To Disneyland Resort (Nov. 2004)

My family and I just returned from a VERY disappointing trip to Disneyland Resort. In the past years we have visited Disneyland several time with our children, including last year (Nov. 2003) when we have our first stay at Grand California Hotel. It was such a wonderful vacation a soon as we returned home we book our trip for the following year (Nov. 2004)

We were extremely disappointed in our last visit to the Disneyland Resort. We went to the resort for 6 days: November 6th-the 11th. We stayed at Disney's Grand California Hotel and paid out over $3000.00 for our trip and close to $1400.00 dollars more for food and souvenirs .

While the room wasn't bad, we still had to wait for the room to be cleaned at 4 pm. Upon entering the room we noticed that it definitely was a rushed cleaning. There was hair on the floor and in the shower there were dirty towels still in the bathroom. The beds were messed up, like someone had already been in our room. We were so disappointed and disgusted with this that we had to ask for another room. After an hour later and several arguments with the hotel staff about how busy they were and did not seem to have the time to listen to our complaint, they finally, very rudely, gave us another room.

The friendly service that we have received in the past from the hotel was so outstanding that we swore to each other it was the only place we would EVER stay if we came to Disneyland. THAT HAS NOW CHANGED!! No one was ever smiling, they were always in bad moods and seemed bothered if you asked them questions, or they just flat out lied to us about information when we asked.

One evening my husband asked the desk services if they still had early admission to California Adventure for the morning ride and he told him no, we don't do that in the off season the very next morning we saw them leaving for the early morning admission ride. We did not expect to be lied to and treated rude in the resort most expensive hotel. We could of stayed at another hotel and received better service.

As far as the restaurants at Grand California Hotel were concerned we had such poor service that we only ate there twice. Our waiter was rude and condescending when it came to our children. He spoke to us like we were wasting his time. For a breakfast that costs over $100.00 to eat with characters we expected to be treated like they were lucky we came there. It was such a disappointment.

Was so disappointing to my 6 year old son that he cried. He had such a wonderful time in Nov 2003, that he so much wanted to go back and have breakfast with Chip and Dale. They never were around. They kept disappearing into the back room, never came to our table.

We knew about the current closures as mentioned on Disneyland.com what was remaining was constantly having problems. The bathrooms at the resorts were continually dirty. Not one time did I walk into a clean bathroom. There were broken toilets with waste in side of them. There was toilet paper on the floors and paper towels missing. It was disgusting.

Every day there were rides that were shut down and there was no compensation for this. For example, on one day the Orange Stinger was shut down, when we asked if it would open at all that day the cast member looked at us and saiddoes it look like it to you it is shut down for the whole day. When we asked why she responded with How should I know, they just shut it down then turned her back to us and began speaking with another cast member.

Screaming Over California was closed more that it was openedalso rude people at the gate telling us basically to just deal with it and there was nothing they could do about it.

The cast member s that worked in California Adventure we consistently rude and had frowns upon their faces. NO ONE was friendly to us. They would give us dirty looks if we asked questions and made us feel very comfortable. Our children said. I THOUGHT THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE HAPIEST PLACE ON EARTH We kept telling them it would get better when we went over to Disneyland, boy were we wrong.

Upon our entry on the first day at Disneyland, the cast member at the entrance gate yelled at my husband and then began to rudely put him down and made him feel stupid. When I asked her why she acted that way to him she just began to get more rude and more belligerent to me and my family, so much that people were turning around and looking at us. I finally had enough and told her that she didn't need to be working there, that people at Disneyland were supposed to be happy and friendly and she was neither.

When we when to City Hall and complained they told us there was nothing we could do about it, but hey we're sorry that happened. The cast members at Disneyland were not any friendlier than they were at California Adventure. At one point after being treated so rude by some many cast members for so may days, we were ready to go home. NO ONE WAS HAPPY. NO ONE WAS SMILING. NO ONE LOOKED LIKE THEY SHOULD BE WORKING AT DISNEYLAND RESORT.

As far as the rides go at Disneyland, one in particular was left unsafe with almost a small child falling in the river. The Boat ride to Tome Sawyers Island was left unattended and the gate left open on the island side. If my husband would not have grabbed the your child, he would have fallen in. When we said this to the cast members that were running this ride, they just looked at us and shrugged there shoulders and said the kids shouldn't be up there by the water Call me crazy, but wasn't Disneyland built for kids to have adventure and to look at things. It should be safer.

I can remember going to Disneyland when I was younger and it was the happiest times I had ever had and I wanted to give my family the same memories, not memories like this. We can spend a lesser amount of money and go another amusement park and make better memories there. I truly believe that if Walt Disney were alive he would be disgusted with how commercial this whole Resort has become. He dreamed of a place to make children's dreams come true and to allow parents to dream with their children. Now all it is about and money, no more dreams, only money. Well you might of taken our money and you might of taken our dreams and crushed them this time, but it WILL NEVER happen again. None of our dreams came true with vacation, it was only a nightmare that we paid close to $4000.00 to have, and that's the scariest part.

Disappointedly Yours

DISNEY CRUISES MUCH BETTER CHOICE

AUTHOR: Californiadreemin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Regular Disneyland Attendee, here. I too have noticed the decline of park service. They simply do not pay the employees enough to live in Orange County. The ticket guy gets $6.20ph in a city where gas is $3.30 a gallon. Ugly rude employees, non-existent characters, crappy food(especially at Goofys Kitchen, cold chikin nuggets & peanut butter pizza for $30+ a pop!). Crowded, crowded, crowded! I noticed the change in 2005. We have been Premium Annual Passholders since 2001 and I fear this may be our last year.We don't even go to California Disney, at all.

Try the Disney Wonder Cruiseship, if you are still a Disney fan. Let the Manager know ahead of time that your money is important to you and that you expect to be treated like royalty(hey, you'll never see him again, right!). They will knock themselves out to impress you. Best of luck and happy new year...
