Warning to hard working individuals; Diverse Transportation Group, or DTG is a ripoff.  You will find ads in the news papers saying;

"START A BUSINESS With a 1, 3, 5 ton truck or hwy tractor long-term contracts provided financing available G Licence ok previous exp not required 905-491-6863 1-877-285-1971 Email

My story
I was looking for a job in the trucking industry, but times were hard and companies weren't hiring. Then I found this ad. I called the number and I was told to come in for an interview. When I got there  I was told that DTG is not a dealer, financial institution, or a transport carrier but rather they provide the service of matching individuals with a job and getting them a suitable  truck. Because  I have AZ Licence I wanted a tractor but Denis said no get a straight truck; there is much more work and they use less fuel. Also he claimed I would be home much oftener. Denis stated that I would be making between $2500 and $3500 dollars a week from this I would need to pay my fuel, Insurance and make the truck payments.  He said that the truck he  would sell me would use about $500 in fuel per week. The insurance would be $600/ wk. This would make my deduction about $250-$300 per week plus the truck payment.

So I fell for it because it was such a fool proof way to earn a living. But because I didn't have the $20,000 for the down payment and start up costs; I borrowed this money privately thinking I would be able to pay it off shortly.

But that is when the horror began. DTG sold me a brand new truck saying used ones were hard to find, and companies won't hire you unless your truck is fairly new; less than 2years preferably. They then had me sign on with a company that had no operating authorities. I had to have all my own authorities.  After I had been driving for two weeks and used way more fuel than Denis had predicted and not made the kind of money I was promised I called Denis and was told that I had to give it some time, although this doesn't make any sense and you should never fall for this. If you are available and the company you sign on with is buzy and they know what they're doing then there is very little slow time in the start up.

After 4 weeks and not making even $4,000 I had to quit. I was supposed to make that in just over a week! Denis then had me go to a different company were I fared no better.  I was on duty from 6:00 am Monday thru Saturday and I couldn't ever make even the minimum of $2500 a week.

I do believe that there was a time in history when expedite trucks were scarce and loads much more plentiful. Then one could have earned a living with a straight truck.

But what DTG does is they buy the cab and chassis and through their working group they add they sleepers and cargo boxes; they then resell the truck to you at an extremely high price (about $30,000 over a similar truck retail at the dealership) and finance it at what one lawyer called an illegal rate of interest.

Because of this setup they refuse to sell you anything but a straight truck because that's how they pocket the money.

Also they will tell you all kinds of things but they are very careful of what they put on paper. Although they claim not to be a dealer or financial

institute  all the paper work was handled by Denis ; I never met a dealer or lender though they say they will introduce you to both.

DTG sold me the truck valued at $112,000 (according to them).  I had to put $16,500 down and pay 2530.00/month for 60 months. That equals over 19% interest!

Also scamed by DTG in Ontario

AUTHOR: Scamed by DTG in ON - (Canada)

I was also scamed big time by this and lost tones of money.... I am actually trying to gather information to see how our cases are similar so that we can do something about it. When i read the original report I felt like someone was posting my own story, exact same details. If someone if willing to speak about the experience and "compare notes" in contemplation for a possible legal action, drop me a line with contact info at Particularly interested in getting in touch with whoever posted the original post.

Same experience (almost) , different St-Gelais

AUTHOR: Jupiter Jones - (United States of America)

I responded to the same type of ad that the original poster did.  I thought the same thing; it's hard and unglamourous work, but if I can make a decent buck for my family, I was willing to give it a shot.

The company was called Ammex this time, and I had a meeting with Jean St-Gelais, Denis' father.  He spoke very reassuringly, and seemed to have my best interests at heart.  The pitch described in the original post is word-for-word the same pitch he tried to sell me.  He took all my information, did a credit check, and advised me to cash in my RRSP for the downpayment because, as he said, "They don't earn much money."

Thinking it sounded too good to be true, I hit the internet.  As soon as I Googled this guy's name, I got the whole story. Fortunately, I found out before any money changed hands.

He told me he'd been a trucker for 30 years, but I found that not to be the case.  Well, at least he would've had to take a break while he served 10 years in a U.S. prison for fraud in the 80's.  He's probably never even driven a truck.

This guy is the worst type of parasite, who wants to defraud desperate people out of their last dollar.  There's a special place in h-e-double-hockey-sticks for people like him, and I hope he gets there sooner rather than later.

The above rebuttal to the original story is obviously fake, it doesn't really even make sense.

Dismissal of Rip Off Report Posted as Diverse Transport Group DTG Denis St Gelais Killed my Future Scammed $36,000 Oakville, Ontario

AUTHOR: Disappointed Father - (United States of America)

I would like to dismiss the complaint posted with the above caption as this was filed erroneously by my son who had nothing to do with this business venture.  These accusations are false and misleading, as well as damaging to the company and individual who went out of their way to help me start a business in the trucking industry.

I personally and exclusively entered into an agreement with DTG with the intention of starting my own business and having my son act as the driver of the vehicle.  My son was not part of that agreement. The first carrier that I was placed with did not work out so DTG placed me with a different carrier.  After a few months my son, acting as driver, found a carrier on his own.  He did not ask DTG's advice nor was DTG aware of the change in carrier.

From the onset it was made clear to me that the earning potential and the successful operation of my business was totally dependant upon my efforts.  DTG had no control over the success or failure of my business but would work diligently with me to ensure its success if that was my goal.  They have always been straight forward and hones with respect to what it would take to succeed in this industry.
Rather than blaming a third party for our failure, both my son and I have to take responsibility, to do anything less would be irresponsible and dishonest.
