Diversified Consultants, Inc DCItmobile TCI mobile ripoff; debt not mine; no statements no receipts EVER Jacksonville, Florida

My family hosted 2 chinese students to our local university (Fort Hays State University) nearly 3 years ago.  At that time I helped the girls obtain a T-Mobile cellphone account so that they could communicate with their families back in China.  It was a one year contract.  All parties understood that.  At the end of the school year, the girls returned home and assurance was given from T-Mobile that the contract was current and paid in full. At that time, we had a Chinese translator provided by T-Mobile, T-Mobile, Tian Tian (our Chinese student), my daughter and myself on the phone to transfer ownership and responsibility away from me.  We were given complete assurance that my name was on the contract only as a contact; someone that the company could contact should there be a problem particularly with the language & cultural barriers.

A year later T-Mobile called with a question about the account and again I was assured that I had no liability; the company was simply trying to contact the students.  It was no big deal; and I assumed that it was over. 

Nearly 18 months later I start getting regular phone calls from DCI trying to collect a debt on this account. My husband repeatedly asked for documentation of some kind (a statement, bill) anything to prove that they were legitimate in their pursuit of nearly $300.  Nothing was ever mailed.  We were told that they don't bill, they are just a collection agency. The calls became more frequent with implied threats of credit fraud and reporting and time limitations.  They became much more demanding.  T-Mobile was contacted and we learned that the final billing had gone delinquent.  They affirmed that we were not liable, but that they had sold the account information to DCI who was now pursuing us for payment.  The calls ramped up in demands and implied threats and of course frequency. Much harrassment was endured on my end of the call and they would not listen to my facts.  Finally I was told to pay up now or at midnight my credit score would suffer from this debt.  I authorized payment just to stop the matter on the condition that I would receive a receipt for my payment.

It's been nearly 3 weeks since the withdrawal from my account for nearly $300.  To date we have not received a bill, or a receipt for the withdrawal.  And yes, DCI was given our physical street address, PO Box, and also has our land line and cell line numbers.  Nothing.  I paid extortion money to make this go away for a phone I never used, and was never billed for.  All that I did was agree to assist T-Mobile in communicating with a couple of Chinese girls who were homesick and wanting a phone.  To date they are distressed by the whole sordid mess and cling to a communication that they have from T-Mobile that the account was paid in full.  THIS IS A RIP-OFF!  IF IT WAS A LEGITIMATE BILLING, I'D HAVE AN ACCOUNT NUMBER, A RECEIPT OR SOMETHING IN THE MAIL.  So my next move is to correspond with the folks at T-Mobile, & FHSU, to make sure that international students coming to Western Kansas use any provider BUT T-Mobile.  Because T-Mobile sells account information that is not accurate to the extortionists at DCI.
