Dream Chihuahuas one of Dawns kennels?
My friend in California almost bought a puppy from the Dream Chihuahuas and I feel awful since I am the one who advised her to go.I was impressed with the site, but since have found that much of the Dream site text is from Dawns site.I am glad Sharon walked away.I think Dawn owns the dogs at the Dream kennel.

Sharon visited to find puppies in a garage with paper over the windows preventing visitors from looking in the windows. Sharon was also upset the puppies are only shown in an area outside the shed or garage. Visitors were not allowed near the home. The windows are covered with paper and tin foil preventing sunlight from entering.

Puppies are not sold with papers according to what Sharon was told. Very sick puppymill practices. Most certainly nothing to do with a hobby.

I saw this text written from another thread and decided to start my own title of this breeder. I saw the same things when I visited tehre house, only I wasn't as smart as I am now and unfortunately bought the dog. Only to find out she has PDU a heart problem and had PARVO which she was treated for and almost died from. Now I have 5,000 worth of vet bills. These breeders are extremely rude, show no compassion and are not going to give me any money for the treatment or anything. They deny any other dogs had PARVO yet my dog was diagnosed with parvo the 3rd day I got her. They are selling these puppies with tons of ads on the internet all probably infected with parvo if not some at least. I am taking them to small claims court. Anyone else have a similiar issue with this breeder or any advice?

Very Satisfied with Chihuahua Dream Ranch

AUTHOR: Alims19 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, July 31, 2011

I purchased my 3 year old chihuahua in 2008. He is healthy and happy.  Regarding claims that they do not give papers with the puppies, this is false. I have four different papers from Chihuahua dream ranch with his vaccination records, reciept of purchase and the warranty if puppy gets ill, etc. I am very happy with how they conducted buisness.

needed to share my experience

AUTHOR: melanie - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 18, 2011

My name is Melanie, and I was looking up Karens name on the internet because I have never seen Chihuahuas Dream's webpage.  Once I, instead, stumbled across this website and posting, I absolutely felt the need to post a response.

When we were living in Santa Cruz, my husband had been talking to Karen about looking for a dog for me and, in December of 2009, scheduled to drive up to San Jose to meet her at Claudia and Dave Sotos house, which is also their place of business.  The house and dog barn/house, (where most of the dogs live), are right next to each other and surrounded by lots of land and trees and grass.  There are fenced in areas behind and around where the dogs live in and the entire property is surrounded by a fence so there are no dogs running off in to a street or the woods somewhere.

We had to open the fence at the bottom of the driveway.  Where we were going was a suprise for me(christmas was coming), but I could hear barking through the the trees as we climbed their long, windy, rural driveway.  When we got out of the car, Karen greeted us followed by a big, old, sweet bulldog and his chihuahua buddy jumping all over him.  Dave Soto came over to say hello and we talked about the bulldogs he rescues and his love for them.  Karen took my husband and me in to the house to meet Claudia Soto.  There were a few dogs in the house that were their pets, (they wouldnt let us take them home), and some older dogs that permanently resided in the house due to special needs and care and attention.  The Sotos sat us down to get to know us and to figure out what dog would be perfectly suited for the both of us.  They showed us a gazillion dogs, answered all of our questions, did not pressure us, and made sure we were good people to be adopting one of their dogs and knew how to take care of a chihuahua.

I love my little fur man more than any other dog I have ever seen or met or could even imagine.  The vet always says he is healthy, and everyone he meets wants to take him home.  Hes happy, healthy, calm, easy-going, never barks, he loves playing with other dogs both large and small, he loves people and hugs, he can walk on a leash down a crowded city sidewalk or hell ride along in my purse, he loves parks and the beach or sitting around, he is NOT needy or territorial, he always uses a litterbox, and hes the most handsome little guy ever!

Im an animal activist, Ive been vegetarian since I was nine years old, and I love animals.  Ive temporarily adopted several rescued sanctuary animals to train and socialize them a bit and to build up their confidence and trust while finding them a permanent forever home with someone perfect for them.  Ive learned that the MOST important factor in forming a dogs temperment is the first several weeks of its life.  If a dog is not properly socialized and cared for in the first several weeks(months) of its life, then the resulting behavioral problems are extremely difficult to change.  I have seen many a chihuahuas all too quick to nip or growl at an admiring hand because the dog wouldnt know that only good things should come from an outstretched human hand-  or too quick to snarl and chomp at any friendly inquiring dog because the chihuahua was not properly socialized to know what the proper greeting to play is from another dog- and I have seen way too many dogs so NEEDY that they can never be alone, (they howl and cry and bark and jump when left alone):  they beg for constant attention and become extremely anxious if not right next to their owner.  These dogs were given way too much attention and coddling early on and were never left alone.  They have no self-confidence and feel afraid and vulnerable when their owners have left and cant protect them.  Sooo, anyways, the point of that whole schpeel was:  I would not have the most amazing, sweet, trusting, relaxed, friendly, playful, eager to learn, not to mention handsome doggie without the loving, caring, attentive breeding and upbringing of the Sotos.  When I first met my husband, he hated small dogs with a passion.  After we got Milo, or Mellow Boy from Claudia and Dave Soto, he calls him his son and carries him around everywhere with him.

The Sotos watched our little guy several times for us while my husband and I went on vacation.  Each time, he was so happy to see them.  When he stays with them, he gets to see and sleep with his doggie mommy when he does not cuddle with Claudia in her bed.  They are some of the sweetest, most caring people.  It was winter when we had flown in from a vacation- there had been storms all week, and the power had been out in the whole county for several days.  The Sotos were running around all night in the mud and the rain, getting dry blankets and food, and making sure all of the generators were running to keep the dogs toasty warm and dry.  They could care less about the house not having any electricity at all for days:  their only concern was the dogs.  The poor puppies!  The noises scare them.  They need to stay nice and warm.  They were so sweet to watch our dog, telling us they were happy to and hugging him goodbye.

Now that my husband and I live in Miami, despite the plethora of dogs, I think my pup wins the cute competition.  We are planning on calling Karen and flying back to San Jose for the single purpose of getting another dog from the Sotos.  I tell everyone who asks where I got my dog because everyone always wants to keep him once theyve held him.  Im sorry to all of the people that have had a bad experience, but I can tell you that Karen along with Dave and Claudia Soto are caring, giving, loving people who were immeasurably helpful.  I am an animal lover, so this is coming from an empathetic, caring person.  I carry Karens card in my wallet and my purse, even though I live in Miami, because I know that if I ever need to for any reason, I can call her about my little guy....  and I know that when my husband says we are getting another chihuahua, I have her number on hand.

rebuttal for Chihuahua Dream

AUTHOR: Karen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 28, 2009

This is in rebuttal to some of what has been posted about me on this site. I am the Karen referred to in some of the posts regarding Chihuahua Dream. Some of the statements about me are complete conjecture, with absolutely no basis in fact, and since posted in a public forum, slander.

I am not a broker. I have had the pleasure of working exclusively with the Sotos/Chihuahua Dream for over 2 years, assisting them with advertising and customer service in placing their pups. I have never brought "truckloads of sick puppies" to or from anywhere and did not know that Chihuahua auctions existed until reading the slander posted here.

I am a big Chihuahua fan and have shopped for Chihuahuas for myself, prior to meeting the Sotos. I, personally, have never met any breeders, so aboveboard, so friendly and so willing to accommodate people and guarantee their dogs, as they are.

Claudia is an extremely skilled breeder with a medical background and because of the caliber of standard that they operate with and provide, I have come to consider what they do to be more of a service to people, who want to find a safe place to buy a Chihuahua.

People are fortunate to find Chihuahua Dream and to not be subject to the many heartbreaking pitfalls that you can run into when buying from oftentimes, lying, uncaring, sub-standard breeders, out to make a quick buck on these wonderful small dogs and who don't know what they are doing.

I can honestly never say enough about the Sotos, having watched them work tirelessly over the years and bend over backwards, working with people and making sure they are happy with their dog. They continue to amaze me, in instances where I know that no other breeder would have the patience, take responsibility, make concessions, refund money, etc. People can be very fickle when buying a dog and do take advantage of the Sotos' good nature sometimes. Still, the Sotos always err on the side of the safety and welfare of the dog and try their best for a positve outcome for the people. Money is never the object. Theirs is a labour of love.

There is no limit to what they will expend, be it time, travel, energy or finances, to save any dog, young or old, if it is in any kind of trouble. Part of my job is to answer the phone 24/7, in case anybody needs any tips or help, emergency or otherwise, in case the Sotos are busy with the dogs and aren't able to answer the phone. We always ask people as they leave with their pup, to contact us immediately if there is a problem while the pup is in transition in it's new home.

Sometimes people have been pretty unreasonable when the Sotos tried their best to help. In example, a possible heart murmur was diagnosed in a pup that someone had owned for only 24 hours. The Sotos immediately offered a full refund on return of the dog. The person refused to give up the dog and they all agreed on a partial refund with a release of liability for the Sotos from then on. Though they had all contracted for that, later on, the Sotos still offered the assistance of their vet, at their expense. The person refused that help and incurred an enormous vet bill on her own, which she then sued them for. When they got to court, the judge asked the person if she understood that she never needed to incur the vet bill she was suing for. The Sotos had offered everything possible and gone above and beyond what was legally necessary on their part. This person lost her case in a court of law, but continues to complain on this site.

I don't know who is behind the more venomous lies and hearsay about me, but if I could, I would take them to court, for printing it about me and the Sotos, here in public, when they know they have no firsthand knowledge or factual basis for their statements.

It is just really too bad, that when people try as hard as the Sotos do, with a love and a passion for what they do, that a few people on this site could paint such a twisted and corrupted picture of who they are, what they are about, and what they strive for. The Sotos are two of the nicest people you could want to meet, and especially in the Chihuahua breeding business.

The Sotos try harder than anyone I have met in the business, to do their very best in every regard, if people are at all reasonable, and at least even let us know if there is a problem. Dogs are living things and baby dogs are delicate and can have a hard time in transition. Sometimes if there is a problem, people just get mad, blame the Sotos, and don't inform them, until sometimes, sadly, it is too late for the innocent pup, due to the new owner's own negligence. By the time they do bring the pup back, and still receive a full refund, Claudia then sometimes needs to spend many hours and sleepless nights trying to save the poor pup, again due to the people's own negligence of the pup. I have also seen, if need be, the Sotos jump in the car at any time of the day or night to drive long distances, to check on a pup, or pick it up because the new owner was concerned about something, but wouldn't make the drive themselves.

Some people complaining here about me, never even contacted or inquired of me with their complaints. So, it really makes me wonder (based on what they've said that I do know to be outright lies, hearsay, and at best conjecture) if there is any validity or truth to any of what they are stating. From my vantage point, most of what is posted here, is slanted and slander, plain and simple.

March 2007 I purchased a Beautiful Chihuahua from Dave and Claudia.

AUTHOR: Louise - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 10, 2009

March of 2007, I purchased a Beautiful puppy. Her name is "Emily Anne". My experience with Dave & Claudia was Awesome! Claudia put Emily in my arms, we had an Amazing Bond the moment I held her. It was late evening when I arrived at their home in San Jose. I was driving in from Los Angeles. I had been looking for puppies for 4 months. I saw there ad in the San Jose Mercury knews & kept the paper in my car. I was thinking of puppies on my long drive home & remembered I had the ad. I called & they were very sweet to let me to come over so late.

Claudia brought Emily Anne's brother to me first. No connection. Then she gave me Emily....I was there for a 2 hours, I couldn't put Emily down. Emily Anne was Gorgious. Perfect face, eyes, she was a little lover and when you put her down, she was fiesty & playful. When I picked her up again she was snuggled back in the warmth of my neck. She was a "Dream Chihuahua".

I know that there is a "Ripoff Report" filed because of a puppy with poor health. It is unfortunate that this woman had a bad experience. There are complaints that there are no papers.

When I purchase Emily, Claudia & Dave gave me full disclosure. "I was told that if my puppy was sick to bring her back to them right away so their Vet could check her out" & that they did not supply papers. At that point I had a decision to make do I want to buy a puppy from them? Everything was in writing, black & white. I could have gone to another breeder that offered papers. I was the consumer that was making a decision based on what I was told, what I saw & what was in writing. Their "mini ranch" in San Jose sets up on a hill and is a family home from Dave's family. I would live there in a heart beat. I saw pictures of where the puppies are breed, born and when they are ready to be sold they bring them to San Jose. I saw Emily's parents. It was the BEST experience that I had when purchasing a puppy. It was the Best Decision of my life to buy from Claudia & Dave. I have referred many people to them.

It was important to me that I purchase my puppy from a breeder that loved animals. Dave & Claudia gave me a Beautiful, smart, well behaved (98% of the time), loving, Healthy, fun, active, "Dream Chihuahua". Emily Anne still cuddles my kneck and the best part.....Emily Anne was potty trained to go on puppy pads....that lasted about 3 days. The first 3 nights I had her she would wake up and cry at 2am, so the first two day I took her out. I thought that is so cool. The third night I didn"t want to take her out....she gave me a surprise on the end of the bed, she was too tiny to jump off my large bed....(my fault)....from then on I got up and took her out. She never used another puppy pad after the third day. She will only go outside.

I would not hesitate to recommend Dave & Claudia. They love their animals, they are straight forward. I was given a contract. They are Professional and Very Sweet people that do not deserve to have their Good name slammed by a bad experience.

I am a business owner for over 15yrs in Los Altos, CA. Emily Anne is well known around town. She is loved by all the local merchants that she visits for her daily treat and tummy rub. She loves her UPS driver (she does growl at FedEx...I think the UPS driver givers her more treats), Mailman and all my clients that stop in to say hello to Emily. She has a very big Personality. I know that I have a Healthy, well breed Long Coat Chihuahua that will be with me for many years to come.

If you are looking to purchase a puppy from Dave & Claudia....I know that you will have a Beautiful experience just like me.

Oh....I forgot to mention....Emily and I share the same birthday, January 3, two Capricorn's.....that are always right!!!

Puppy Love....

Emily Anne & Louise

To Chihuahua dream

AUTHOR: Ben - (U.S.A.)

You know WHY we don't reveal our identities?? Because there are many psychopathic breeders who'd track us down to hurt us, that's why!

All breeders who "mass produce" dogs are nothing but con artists! Even if they follow "Standard cleanliness". Mass breeders are like the "Wal Marts" of dog breeders. Just like big corporations stepping on little businesses, big breeders step on small scale breeders.

Know the Whole story...

AUTHOR: Chihuahua Dream - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 03, 2009

IT'S SO EASY TO RUIN SOMEONE'S GOOD NAME WHEN YOU ARE NOT REVEALING YOUR IDENTITY! I guess it's in HUMAN NATURE Maybe that is the major reason why we are DOG BREEDERS AND LOVE SOOO MUCH BETTER THE COMPANY OF OUR DOGS THAN MEETING NEW FRIENDS!!!! IF A DOG IS UPSET AT YOU IT WILL LET YOU KNOW RIGHT AWAY; BUT NEVER WAG ITS TAIL FIRST AND THEN ATTACK YOU FROM THE BACK!!! NOW WE WOULD LIKE TO START ANSWERING SHARON/SHANDFAITH AND ANNE.
SHARON WHO???? WHEN DID YOU COME??? YES, we have a four car garage but it is open, no windows and have no dogs in it but does have cars. That's usually what we use our garage for. By the way, that garage has had the same use and look since 1954.
There is no shed anywhere on our 8 acre ranch; there has never been one since the ranch was purchased in 54. You are welcome to come by and look for one. We do have a little house that was built as a guest house. It has sentimental value because Dave raised his first child in it (today that child is 46 years old, very healthy and happy by the way). This little house is connected to the main house and can be seen clearly when you drive up. If the house is good enough to raise a human child why not a canine one? Which if you must know, a human being resides in that guest house as we speak.
Visitors are greeted in our Bowling alley which is a part of our house. Yes, it sounds eccentric but we do have a bowling alley in our house. It was built by Dave's father in '61. Just because we don't give people the complete tour of our private areas such as the bedrooms and kitchen doesn't mean we have something to hide. We do believe our family deserves to have their privacy too. It's a fantastic place, big enough, easy access and comfortable.PERIOD.
Puppies are sold with AKC or CKC papers (depending on the lineage) ONLY if we agree to it and specify that in our Contract (every single puppy that leaves here goes with a contract). We mainly sell AKC/CKC puppies/dogs that are to be in the SHOW RING or another AKC or CKC professional breeder. Otherwise our puppies go as PETS and that means NO PAPERS or limited registration. Which doesn't mean the parents don't have papers, just we don't want to encourage backyard breeders that will breed a dog JUST because it's purebred and has pedigree. Why do we feel this way? In our years of experience we have received announcements from AKC congratulating us on a litter that we didn't breed from owners that received applications when they adopted a puppy from us and never transferred the dog in their names but guess what? They have puppies! And for AKC those dogs were ours even though we don't have them in our possession. Then we have to start looking for all the information about that puppy that left us maybe three years ago and fax AKC with the name and address of the new owners to prove to AKC that we sold the dog when it was a puppy hoping the owners still have the same address and phone number to be verified by AKC. Very stressful and time consuming. If you want a pet that you are going to spay or neuter, papers are irrelevant.

You are stating, Very sick puppy mill practices. Most certainly nothing to do with a hobby. WELL, SINCE YOU ARE SHARON WHO WITH NO LAST NAME, YOU ARE SAFE, OTHERWISE I WOULD SUE YOU FOR SLANDER!! Do you know what a puppy mill is? What a puppy mill looks like? Have you ever seen how horrendous a puppy mill is? Before referring to a breeder as that you may want to know what you are talking about. And exactly what that particular breeder is doing. WE ARE EXTREMELY UPSET AT YOU FOR THAT STATEMENT WHEN WE ARE THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE. WE ACTIVELY FIGHT AGAINST THOSE PRACTICES AND EVEN HELP FINANCIALLY TO SUPPORT ASPCA, D.E.L.T.A RESCUE, PETA AND MANY OTHERS TO HELP PUT THESE CRUELTIES TO AN END. WE NEVER PUBLICIZE THAT PART OF OUR LIVES, WE DO IT BECAUSE WE LOVE ANIMALS. CAN YOU SAY YOU'VE AT LEAST DONE THAT MUCH? WE HOPE SO FOR THE WELL BEING OF THE ANIMALS. IF YOU DON'T THEN WE CAN SEND YOU SOME INVITATIONS TO JOIN US. BY THE WAY WE ARE ADDING SOME INFORMATION FOR YOUAND ANYONE ELSE THAT WANTS TO LEARN:
What is a Puppy Mill?
"Puppy Mill" is a general term that refers to commercial canine and/or feline breeding operations that mass produce large quantity of pets in substandard, overcrowded, unsanitary conditions with little regard for the pets' health, safety, or welfare; which frequently results in an inferior pet for the consumer.

11 Facts about Puppy Mills

1. Puppy mills usually house dogs in overcrowded and often unsanitary conditions, without adequate health care, food, water or human company.
2. The breeding dogs are bred as often as possible to increase profits and probably will never see life outside of the puppy mill. The owners rarely pay attention to the health or happiness of the dogs.
3. Puppy mills often generate health problems for the dogs they are selling. The puppies may have immediate health problems such as respiratory infections or pneumonia and some even have genetic diseases that show up years later.
4. Breeding dogs suffer continuously, imprisoned in small cramped cages, often soiled with their own excrement, breeding litter after litter till they can no longer reproduce.
5. No states have laws against a breeding kennel legally keeping dozens of dogs in cages for their entire lives, if food, water, and shelter are provided.
6. Thousands of puppy mills aren't even regulated or inspected by the USDA, since many of them sell directly to the public.
7. The average puppy mill has between 65 and 75 animals housed in hutch-style cages with wire floors. The waste drops to the ground below and accumulates beneath the cage where flies and other gross things fester.
8. Dogs at puppy mills are often not actually purebred, and the breeders sometimes lie about lineage records.
9. Dogs housed in indoor facilities deal with equally terrible conditions, with ammonia vapors and odors permeating badly aired buildings.
10. Solid surfaces aim to protect the legs of puppies, but as they mature and scout out their surroundings, feet and legs often fall through wire floors designed to allow excrement to fall through. The resulting injuries compound their misery.
11. Unlicensed puppy mills often sell puppies at six weeks of age even though federal laws prohibit licensed mills from selling puppies less than eight weeks of age.
11 Facts to know about Chihuahua Dream Kennel:

1) Our dogs are kept in large kennels were they are cleaned out regularly and food and water bowls sterilized daily. Our dogs see a vet at least once a month for a regular check up. They are handled at every opportunity and showed love, hugs and kisses. Each puppy leaves with a genetic health guarantee from u and a health examination report card from our vet.
2) Our dogs are given breaks between litters to build up vitamins, nutrition and general health before the next pregnancy. They are given Revolution to protect them against fleas, ear mites and heartworms every month. We also worm our dogs on a regular basis as well to prevent tapeworms, hookworms and roundworms according to our vet's directions.
3) Our dogs see our vet immediately if any signs of illness or depression shows no matter if it's a young, old, or middle aged. If she/he has to be spayed or neutered the dog will still stay with us to enjoy the rest of her/his life in comfort unless we feel he/she is young enough to adapt easily to a new owner. We DO NOT euthanize our dogs, we don't believe in it, they live till they are old. We give them all needed medications to give them that one more day to live happily.
4) Our kennels are 8'x 4' with no more than four dogs in each or for 4'x'4 for our mothers with litters. We have a nursery that is kept at a comfortable 70 degrees at all times. It's insulated, ventilated and monitored. We have air conditioning and Heating available in our kennel to give our dogs high quality of life. We have a large fenced in play area for the dogs to run and play in the sunshine when the weather permits. Remember Chihuahuas are indoor dogs and they hate extreme temperatures and weather. They can have the whole 8 acres open field to run but they would go directly back inside to their comfortable beds if the weather is not perfect.
5) We provide separate diets for our mothers that are expecting, our mothers with litters, our retired dogs that stay with us, and our young adult dogs. They are given fresh clean water every day through water spouts and bowls. They drink the same water that we drink directly from the city through the automatic watering system.
6) Our kennel is inspected by our local Humane Society officers in our area and are happily welcomed and greeted when they show up. We don't consider them our enemies but our friends. Yes, we even wash their boots and sterilize their hands when they come. We are also inspected by one of the toughest Inspectors of the AKC and approved by her completely. The AKC inspector's words were, No one can hold a candle to your kennel. And she inspects Arizona, California and New Mexico
7) All of our kennels have cement floors that are cleaned out daily. NO WIRE CAGES OR FLOORS!! The feces is taken out of the kennels and disposed of. It is not allowed to accumulate at all in our kennels to keep flies out and away from our dogs. Our kennels are vacuumed daily with a commercial vacuum cleaner.
8) We keep all AKC records on file with us and record each breeding to make sure there is no inbreeding in our kennel. Lineage, vaccinations and health history are kept track of with each and every one of our dogs.
9) Our kennel has windows that are opened each day to let in fresh air. During the nights or bad weather we have ventilation fans turned on to keep the air clean and fresh so that ammonia odors cannot build up. We even have a special air purifier for our nursery room.
10) Our kennels do NOT have any sections were a puppy or dog can get their legs tangled or broken. The entire kennel is of solid ground.
11) We are a fully licensed kennel that surpasses the expectations of both the Humane Society and AKC inspectors. Our puppies do not go home till they are at least between 10-12 weeks of age, no exceptions, vaccinated and with their health examination report card from a California Licensed Veterinarian. .

Isn't a hobby something that costs you a lot of money but you do it because it brings great joy in your life? If so, then yes, this is a hobby for us. An expensive one, like golf is for others. Only us, our vet, our accountant and our local store were we buy our pet supplies knows how expensive this hobby is. But we don't need to publicize any of that. At seventy years old Dave feels no one should be able to tell us how to spend our time and money. Dogs are a passion for us and we love each and every one of them. Some women love diamonds, well we love dogs and we spend our money on them.
ABOUT THE PAPERS ON THE WINDOWS We are not sure what building was seen that had papers covering the windows since our guest house is occupied by a friend and our kennel has screens on the windows to keep out bugs. Unless she arrived during the days we were painting. Remember this is an old ranch and so we have to do a lot of upkeep on it. SHARON WHO? YOU MAY HATE PUPPY MILLS, WE DO TOO. BUT FOR SURE WE ARE NOT ONE.

SHANDFAITH, this goes for you. And in this case, we know who you are. We request that you make a public apology on this site stating you were in the wrong on this matter according to the Superior Court of California. We have both of the court files to prove this. It's true you took us to court but you lost the case twice! Remember you were not happy with the first judgment and tried to take us to court again and lost the second time as well. The court ruled in our favor because we did all that we possibly could to make you happy and you refused. This is the story: the day after you purchased your puppy you took her for a check up (as our contract states). Your vet found the heart murmur and you called us. We sent you to our vet who confirmed the diagnosis of the heart murmur. Two Californian Licensed Veterinarians found nothing else wrong with the dog at that time other than the heart murmur (we have the letter from the vet with such statement). We immediately offered you a full refund or exchange the puppy. You refused to give up on the puppy and told us instead you wanted some of your money back. You stated the amount; we agreed and immediately refunded the money in the same way we got paid for the puppy through paypal. You didn't have to wait a single moment for your refund but as we agreed, from then on, we were no longer financially responsible for the little girl. We talked about it, we wrote an agreement and all of us signed it. The puppy was beautiful, she wasn't sick at all (we have tons of pictures to prove it) and we have no doubt she must be a beautiful girl now. We presented all of our documents in court. You presented yours and we won twice. Who is right? Are 2 California Judges wrong as well? We don't think so. We wish all the best for your little girl, Faith.
WE WOULD LIKE TO ANSWER ANNE: It's true that we have purchased some of Dawn's bloodline just because we love her dogs and admire her. The dogs are fantastic. Excellent pedigrees. Healthy and well behaved. If you have a complaint about us do not get Dawn involved at all. You are talking about a dog that has a pedigree from out of state. This is the real story behind: Years ago we bought our first Chihuahua from a Breeder who used to live on a ranch close to the beach here in California. That little tiny puppy was the Chihuahua of our dreams and the corner stone for our hobby because after her, we developed a strong passion for these little dogs. We named her Dream. That's the reason why we are Chihuahua Dream. We named our kennel after that particular little, tiny, black and tan Chihuahua. Since we were not familiar with the breed, we used to seek counsel from the Breeder of our little Dream. That was how a friendship was born, this Lady used to love going to the beach with the kids, that's what she used to call her dogs. The Breeder's name was Myriam. Years ago due to a severe illness our friend moved back to Oregon were she was from to live with her family. When, later she felt a need to give up some of her kids we adopted them from her resulting in pedigrees from out of state before we transferred her dogs in our name. We still have kids from that particular bloodline and have NEVER had a problem with registration. We have NEVER sold a dog from another breeder that was from out of the state. If you took home a Chihuahua from Chihuahua Dream and had any problem with your Chi, you should have informed us immediately concerning it!
As for Karen, she is NOT a BROKER and WE DO NOT SELL OUR PUPPIES TO HER OR ANYBODY FOR RESALE OR PET SHOPS. If anyone out there is selling or buying puppies in our name we will take that person to court for identity fraud. WE DON'T NEED BROKERS AROUND US! Our puppies are born here, raised here, given love and spoiled here and from here they go to their forever homes or stay with us for their entire lives. We keep a record book for every single puppy that left us, puppies with pedigree or not, AKC reg., CKC reg. or Pets. We have a contract that lists the name of the new family, the address, etc., etc., etc. We screen the families that come to adopt a puppy and sometimes we don't allow the adoption. We firmly believe that families with young children or toddlers shouldn't have a Chihuahua that is super tiny. Instead they can adopt a stockier Chi that fits the family's profile. Many people don't want to listen to us and leave without a Chi in their arms. We don't care. We still look after the well being of our Chihuahuas. Another word that makes us sick is TEACUP THEY DON'T EXIST! It's just a runt of the litter with all the problem situations that a runt may have. If you want to learn more, read our website! YES, THEY ARE ADORABLE BUT YOU BETTER BE PREPARED TO SHRINK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT FOR THEM. It's exactly what we do to keep them alive and doing well. Our friend Karen does NOT travel up north to purchase any puppies in auctions. We don't approve of such practices as we have said before; we are active members of organizations fighting against puppy mills, dog auctions, and brokers. Karen is a single mother of two kids who is a Chihuahua lover just as we are. She doesn't have the time to travel up north and she doesn't support such activities either. Make sure you are talking about the right Karen! Karen is part of the friends and family of Chihuahua Dream! She may meet you at our home if we were unavailable at that time but that doesn't mean we don't live in San Jose. And for sure, it doesn't mean that we live nor have our dogs in Los Angeles!! The Soto family has been at this address since 1954 with no intentions of moving any time soon. As we have said at the beginning, you should be informed before you talk!

Sincerely,
Dave and Claudia Soto

Sincerely,

Shandfaith asked a question. There's confusion and clarification is needed. Re-read my comment. I never said you sell puppies to Karen or that you are up north (ei. out of state). I do know, however that the Sotos have recently purchased dogs previously owned by you for breeding. Someone by the name of Wisper, AKA Sunshine, claims she's your daughter and works for or with the Sotos. This person says the Sotos bought your dogs because you're no longer breeding chihuhuas. If this isn't the case, then people should know you're still in business. True, the issue is with Chihuahua Dream, not you.

Dawn is NOT the owner of this kennel , has never met or sold to a KAREN !!!!

AUTHOR: Dawn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 22, 2009

I'm the mentioned Dawn, Dawn Dalyce of SugarNSpice Chihuahuas. FIRST , I am NOT the owner of Chihuahua Dream in San Jose California, (or MUNCH kin land..the other complained about breeder) those breeders are simply two of hundreds in the last 35 years who have simply bought show /breeding quality dogs from me, to pursue their dream of breeding Champion AKC show chihuahuas, and providing improved quality puppies for people as pets. I am TIRED of being beat up for other breeders mistakes, or problems. Just because I've been breeding for decades, and other breeders buy their show quality breeding stock from ME, does not give you the right to drag me into any complaint you have !! I've only got about 15 adult chihuahuas and 5 puppies of my own.... and my Pet Resort is FULLY OPEN to the public, every room, every day !!!! which you can see on my "letters" pages, people RAVE about my place !!!!! snschihuahuas

The girl who made their website, copied my website nearly word for word. I didn't complain , or threaten to sue, because imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. These are nice people, and they do a great job for their puppies. The puppies and dogs get to get out and run in the sun on their 8 acres. They have big fenced- in dog playgrounds. Just because they weren't out when you showed up, doesn't mean they never are.

I've seen the "garage" you mention. It's about a 5000 sf. barn that's a licensed kennel, and is clean, and well lit from other windows, and has indoor /outdoor runs on the other side. The driveway side has a blocked off window, because it faces west, and the sun beating in that one is too hot. I'm allowed to go in , because I spray my shoes with bleach, and because I've run a licensed kennel for years, decades actually, WITHOUT PARVO !!! I'm careful to bleach everyones shoes as they arrive. You won't find complaints that I sell sick puppies, unless someone is lying, or injured a year after it's sold by being allowed to leap off of couches and stairways as growing puppies (which I refused to pay for ) ! My dogs and puppies are VERY healthy, that is why other breeders, veterinarians, show judges , and buyers of my pups that have become Champions and GrandChampions have been shipped to 9 countries around the world !!

As far as someone named Karen, that you seem to say is a puppy Broker. I have never met, or even spoken on the phone to any such person. So don't connect Dawn Dalyce or SugarNSpice Chihuahuas with any such person. Puppy Brokers are MUCH more likely to bring in parvo, if they're bringing young puppies from several breeders to one place. That's like kids going to kindergarden and coming home with flu, colds, chicken pox, and everything else. Puppies aren't immune from the first vaccine, and not fully immune till about 6 months old. Also, did you know that a puppy with an underlying immune issue, can get parvo from a vaccine??? It's a modified LIVE virus, that can give a mutated case of parvo , on top of something else, that can cause great sickeness (even heart problems) . Again, I don't let MY puppies leave till they're 12 weeks old or older, and have had 2 NEOPAR, super parvo (up to 6500 times higher titer than a puppy shot) plus a DA2PP puppy shot. That also gives the puppies time to mature enough to show any other immune issues, and to be well cleared and to start building immunity to parasites like coccedia. We treat our puppies with Marquis, Albon, and fenbendazol just to be sure they're clean, and our stool tests before shipping prove it. STOP BLAMING ME FOR OTHER PEOPLES PROBLEMS !! Just because my dogs names are in someone's pedigree, doesn't mean you bought a dog from me!! I don't sell to Brokers like Karen. and I'm not UP NORTH, wherever that is. I'm east of San Jose, and I'm willing and ABLE to sue people for slander. So, if you have a complaint, and think you should tie MY name to it, you'd better be SURE of your facts. Otherwise, I'm likely to find out WHO YOU ARE, and drag your butt into court !!! Lets see if your insurance covers SLANDER !!! If you bought a puppy, from some Karen a Broker, who bought puppies from some other area, and you got a defective or sick one. It might not be from ChihuahuaDream, and it SURE IS NOT a SugarNSpice Chihuahua, not raised by Dawn Dalyce !!!!!!

Dawn Dalyce SugarNSpice Chihuahuas. Visit me, you'll be impressed. I've got the best Chihuahuas in California. People fly to me from around the world !

AUTHOR: Anne - (U.S.A.)

Hello. I too am a victim. I found your post under "Dave Soto". The name of the operation is Chihuahua Dream. They have recently purchased many of Dawn's dogs. I was sold a sick pup by "Karen". I experienced the same...no one else was around to meet me, paper on the windows. Visitors are not alowed to see the parents of the pups. I bought a pup and later found out it was sick and come from a breeder out of state. AKC papers were not valid. The dog was sold to me as a "pure bred tea cup" but was actually a mix and has grown to be over 8 lbs. Since then, I have heard that "Karen" makes road trips up north and brings back truck loads of sick puppies from auction to re-sell at outrageous prices. Very sad situation. I don't know how they have managed to stay in business for so long. I'm glad that your puppy survived the ordeal.

Anne
