Over the last 3 years I have made several orders to Doheny's Water Warehouse and on each occasion the orders have been incorrect, delivery has been an issue, or items that they said were in stock were out of stock when the items were delivered.

Two years ago I ordered a new pump and filter from Doheny's. When it was first delivered the items were in a flimsy box and the top of the filter container had been broken. I called to have this corrected and initially they seemed very responsive. However, the weeks went by and no new filter unit was sent. I made multiple calls to the company and they kept telling me that it would be delivered by the end of the week. However, it never showed up.

After a while I called them up to cancel the order and get a refund. They stated that I would need to return it to them at my cost. However the box that it came in was too flimsy to go through the shipping and I asked them to arrange for a new box. They indicated that the manufacturer could not set this up and I would have to find another box to send back the entire filter and pump.

At this point in time more than 3/4 of the summer had passed and I decided that I would continue to wait for the new filter since they promised me it would be in my hands within 2 weeks. Finally, 11 weeks after the delivery of the first broken filter unit I received a new unit. Unfortunately it was already fall and I could not use the pool.

Recently I decided to try Doheny's again for the pool start-up supplies. I went on their web site and ordered multiple items that were indicated to be in-stock. I did not think there would be any issue since other items indicated that they were not in-stock and were on back order. In addition, when I received the order confirmation it did not indicate that any of the items were out-of-stock. However, when I received the packages from them it was missing several items that the bill of lading indicated were on back order. This is only a recent incident that follows several other incorrect and deceptive orders.

This incorrect inventory and delivery information puts people in a position where they are already committed to an order because they have made a payment for the items. To go to a local pool supplier that may have higher prices seems like wasting money so most people will wait until the orders from Doheny's are filled. However, there is no good idea when they will actually supply the back ordered items.
