i contracted with this company to move me from connecticut to florida.when i signed the contract i got a not to exceed price from them, and was told i would have alles i needed. i was also told that all my mattresses and mirrors would be boxed. liers liers liers.
when my furniture was delivered to florida it was a disaster. they couldn't find the movers for two days , and i was charged 2 days down time. when i got the bill i was also charged over $800.00 for boxes. when they unloaded the truck none of my mirrors were boxed and none of my mattresses were boxed.
bottom line they ripped two of my mattresses, broke the bottom of my wall unit all smashed in. parts were missinf from my bed frame, my t.v. was broke on the front. this was a disaster.
to top it all off when i asked for the total to make out the check i was told $6418.07 i freaked. my not to exceed price was $5029.00. they held my furniture hostage until i paid them.
its not right was movers are doing to the consumer it can't go on like this someone has to stand up and take action and do something about this. they are supposed to be regulated by the federal govt, bull look what they can get away with and who suffers the consumer, its just not right.

I have the same situation as the gentleman from Florida. Dolan Moving Company was hired to move a restaurant located in Trumbull, CT. I hired them to move the restaurant out into (2) containers that this company said they would store for us. They told me that the charge for the move would be $3500.00 and the monthly storage fee would be $250.00 per month, per container. I had checked on these prices in the area and they seemed to have the same charges. The move all happened in one day and when I was there during the move this gentleman (now I know he was the owner) approached me and told me that I had to sign this paper, stating that he would have the items in his possession and that I authorize the items taken from the restaurant. I signed the paper seeing that we had agreed verbally on the cost of the move and on the storage per month. Guess what!! He had me sign the paper stating that the storage charge per month would be $3500.00 PER MONTH FOR (2) CONTAINERS!!!! The average in the area is 200.00 to 300.00. THIS OWNER SHOULD GO TO JAIL!!!
He tricked me into signing the papers stating that the items he would take for storage! I called this company several times and can not get a straight answer! They say they will get back to me, I ask to speak to the owner...they tell me he's away! they call me and tell me that they will auction my this off so they can pay the bill of over $40,000.00!! This is incredible!! What SCAMMERS....LIARS!!! They told me to come up with $20,000.00 and they will release my goods to me! I paid them $18,000.00 and said NO!! Now there bill is over $40,000.00 IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING HIRING THIS COMPANY YOU MUST BE CRAZY!!! STAY AWAY! IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME GET MY GOODS PLEASE EMAIL ME.
Do yourself a favor and stay away! Look at what this company has done to me! Who has heard of $3500.00 a month storage fee? This is insane! Now I have hired a attorney and trying to resolve it through the courts! If anyone can help me, please contact me.
