To Whom it May Concern:
I am writing in regards to an incident I incurred with Dollar Rent A Car at the Salt Lake City airport. I made a reservation online through Kayak. The reservation was for $480.00 including taxes and fees. We arrived were rushed through the registration process. I ordered insurance online for $11.99. McKenna, the Dollar agent, said it was that price. We were told to sign on a few lines and were given back one paper to pick up the car in the lot. When we returned the car, I was given a bill for $972.05. The agent couldn't explain the charges and told me to call the next day. I called back that night and spoke to McKenna who was extremely rude. When I questioned the charge the only thing she said was, "you signed it, it's in your contract! It's highlighted with a purple circle".
She was unable to explain the doubling of the quoted price and denied quoting us the $11.99 price for insurance. I called back one more time after calling my credit card company because I was actually charged $1100.00! The girl who answered the phone was Lindsey and she was extremely rude! I was put on hold because she was unable to answer my question and did not help me before. I was then hung up on. I called back once again and McKenna was extremely defensive and argumentative. She basically told me she really didn't care if I was the customer or not. That she was offended that I questioned her.
The next day I spoke with Julie Katasalic, who was just as rude and unhelpful, she refused to help me and give me a copy of my contract. She also was confrontational and was void of any customer service skills. I asked her who her supervisor was she said she was the only supervisor. I continued to press for information on who she reported to and she said that she reported to no one, signed her own paychecks and was the president and CEO of Dollar rent a car.
After further research into this matter I discovered several complaints and bad reviews, including a class action lawsuit, on various websites about Dollar Rent A Car.  This seems to be a common occurrence with this company. I feel that I was scammed and cheated out of my hard earned money. I am also severely disappointed in the manner that the employees at the Salt Lake City Airport franchise handled the manner. It was unprofessional and disrespectful.
