This may seem small and petty to some, but not in our home, seeing as Pizza and Kickers and Dominos Dots go hand in hand with our every weekend family movie nights, and enjoyed through summer vacation even more... and we are "Extreme Movie Rental Addicts". We use home delivery even more than pick up. We have enjoyed this service for years. We have been very understanding and polite of ALL mistakes made on Dominos side, and believe me there were many over the years...we always just simply absorbed the inconvenience as human error...always "tipping" over and above because of it being a small town and everyone knows everyone...even a wrong order still deserved politeness and a tip ! Let me add my WHOLE Family lives on this land...6 homes enjoying this convience !
This is not the first time that Dominos has out of the Blue decided that we are on the boundry line of "Non Delivery" (mind you we are one driveway past that line). Well they decided AGAIN ! So I am here to vent this time !
They might as well come right out and say...Your Understanding, and GOOD Tips, and your $40 or $50 sometimes twice a week for years now does NOT mean a thing to us at DOMINOS...and that other 6 homes of your family that has been loyal to us for years now...TODAY we at Dominos have decided AGAIN not to deliver to you, because you have not ordered a pizza in a certain amount of time. Excuse me ! I did not know that they was counting Deliveries and Pick Up orders that came to our homes. I DO know this time it has become OFFENSIVE, RUDE, CONFUSING, UNAPPRECIATIVE and just plain RIDICULOUS behavior from a business we have frequented for many years now and spent much much money. Appreciation of customers is a honorable attribute not to be dismissed as meaningless.

But we will survive this Pizza Drama ! We do have a Pizza Hut right across the street from Dominos...and they DO deliver !

Your loss Dominos...our couple of hundred dollars a month might not be much...but my family says to be sure and tell you to times that by 6 !

#17 UPDATE EX-employee responds

I used to be Area Supervisor

AUTHOR: Brenpierce25 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 23, 2009

I realize this thread is old but I wanted to help out anyone who reads this.

Dominos corporate sets up the delivery area the first time with help from the franchisee and it is restricted to a 9minute drive time on a friday at 5pm. The boundaries are established on streets, railroads, rivers, and ocassionally a specific house if none of the others are available. The store owner is only GUARANTEED a 1 mile radius. One the D&S (Delivery and service) area is set up then the owner must follow it.

Only the owner has the official D&S map and unfortuantely sometimes the computers are wrong with updates and new streets and such and a phone person or even a manager may not know the area.

D&S areas can be revised due to high crime and other environmental factors to stop delivery or restrict it to daylight hours but when this is done the Franchisee must re-evaluate the area every 6 months.

IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE THE D&S AREA you should contact the store franchisee and be polite and tell him your story and ask if he could put a note on your account so when you call it will tell everyone that they do deliver to you. Keep in mind though that Dominos automatically pulls your caller id (Safety Policy) and your caller ID brings up your account. Which means your home phone may say that you get delivery but your cell phone will say NO-DELIVERY.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU CALL DOMINOS CORPORATE.
Calling dominos corporate and telling them that the store will no longer deliver to you gets the franchisee in trouble and will not help you in any way. The franchisee delivering to you is a bonus and if he is caught deliverying to you during a Store Inspection (2 times or more per year) he will get in to trouble. Also if you are outside a delivery area then it is 100% impossible to get delivery through an online ordering system (managed by corporate).

Dominos pizza is set up completely to do everything as fast as possible and corporate does not want the franchisees to deviate from this at all. They even have a new computer system that tracks side items ordered, toppings and order frequency as well as delivery addresses if they are out of the area. The computer system connects to corporate mutiple times a day but a franchisee knows how to put you in the local store computer without getting caught.

Also for a franchisee to change a D&S area a member from corporate must come down and drive the area. I have gotten Corporate to come to one of my store to increase the delivery area and gotten very angry because they drove the area and due to increased population and traffic light timing they actually REDUCED my area.

Okay i have to agree with everyone this is not a ripoff and should not have been posted but it is a idea good to vent. Businesses grow and change all the time one minute they deliver to your area the next min they don't it happens and its a terrible inconvenience to loyal customers. If it's possible maybe you should go and pick up your pizzas or ask them if there is a possible way you could set up a meeting place for you to get your pizza. I worked for domino's a while back and it was horrible having to tell customers we couldn't deliver to them because they didn't meet the mile requirement but were more than happy to set up meeting places for them. I also agree it is ridiculous they cant deliver to you even though you live one house down but what the other poster had said about asking them to deliver to your neighbors house instead of yours is a great idea.

To the poster val: shut up i hate you because your ignorant

To author: good luck hon call them ask them maybe you can make it work!

I'm a driver in Jackson, MS for PH. There are some areas in town that overlap with another store's delivery area. Rather than argue, we usually just deliver and then come back to the store and make the necessary changes. Perosnally, if the customer is a good one, who is known to tip well, then I'd be glad to go a mile or so extra.

one driveway down

POSTED: Saturday, November 04, 2006

You sound like the customers I love at dominos, order frequently and if we do screw up, you cut us some slack. The manager should either say yes, we deliver here, or no we do not. I've heard the, "but we're just one house past the cut off" a million times, but if we extend the area one more house, then someone else is, "just one more house" away, and then someone else is just one more house away, and so on and so on. In your case, if you are that great of a customer, you should probably try to contact the franchisee. I'm sure he'd hate to lose out on a loyal customer.

I read some comments and compliants sounds very familiar

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 23, 2004

I work for Dominos in the Phila region as a parttimer but almost to full time. I read the first part of a situation that I can call it. The Dominos that I work for set the boundary line and I know exactly where they are. The first couple sounds very familiar because theres a webpage called tipthepizzaguy.com and seen a similiar complaint. We had a driver who is a manager for a time beingwho got robbed three different times because the customer lies about an order, sets us the employees up, or a wrong phone number. I've never been set up but the customer tries to pull a fast one.

About the boundary a customer called up and claimed htey seen us. We told them straight up they could be more than happy to pick it up. I will even tell the customer my experiences about distance. As far as where I work at I work in Lower Bucks County and if you want I'd be happy to show you the customer how far we do go.

You the customer have every right to choose where you want to go. That is up to you. I've been working for the company for a year and a half. I don't get many complaints thank god.

I hope this helps.

Not a rip off, but a favor.

AUTHOR: Chris - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 29, 2004

I am a manager at a Dominos store. We run into this situation alot. When we tell people they are on the edge of our delivery area, it usually means that they are out of the delivery area. However, if we told people they were out of our area, they would not order at all. We do appreciate their business, and we are glad to go a mile or two further when we are not too busy.

Its too bad people feel that they are getting ripped off when its busy and you can't accomodate them instead of appreciating the favor when you can.

p.s. If you payed for pizza and didn't get it, than that would be a rip off, but if they don't take your order in the first place, you can't really be getting ripped off can you?

You are getting the brush off from corporate because they decide the delivering area.

AUTHOR: Jon - Shift Manager; Driver - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 20, 2003

It is not a radius area either. My Dominos delivers 4 miles to the West, 5 miles to the East, 1 mile to the North, and 8 miles to the South. From a Manager point of view, if you are a steady and devoted customer, I would deliver to you. We have a few people like that at my store and they are very devoted customers that spend at least $50 a week and always tip very well. We used to be able to meet you inside our delivery area at a certain spot. We used to meet people at a couple Gas Stations and a few housings developments but with the whole sniper incident, we are no longer able to do that. A lot of devoted customers were angered and we couldn't do anything because it concerned a driver safety issue.

Pizza Wars

AUTHOR: Michele - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 28, 2003

I know where you are coming from, my friend! I have the SAME situation with a Dominos Pizza I envy the fact that you have a Pizza Hut to fall back on! I personally prefer Pizza Hut pizza, but the only wondrous option we have in my town is the neighboring towns Dominos.

Depending on the night and if they are busy sometimes I will get delivery, and other times I live too far out. Never have I been told where exactly the magical line ends so I cant use that as a defense. The corporate office isnt much help because I was told that the franchise owners can choose their delivery area they just have to cover a minimum radius. I am not sure how true that is I could have been getting the brush off.

Hey, if I were in your situation, I would do this Though it might be a pain the first couple times, I would call and order a pizza for the address next door the last driveway on their list. When the come, pick it up outside. After this taking place a couple times, maybe they will realize how silly they are being by not going one driveway over.

From what I understand, it is the franchise owners decision on the delivery boundaries so maybe write a letter to the owner of that location. Maybe he is unaware of the money that his store is losing because of one driveway length.

Good luck and have some cheesy bread for me!
