I hired Don Myers to acquired evidence on an adultery in order to expedite my divorce after 28 years of marriage. He asked me for a $1500 retainer fee.

I asked him to keep me apprised of how he was spending the retainer but he did not do this.... He kept all the original documents that I signed with him. Provided me with NO copies of the contract. I was crying and devastated during this time and I made the mistake of trusting him since he was referred to me by my attorney.

He provided me with no tangible copies of his progress. He witheld all the information of his investigation...

At the end, when he was done with my case, I noticed that he had wasted a lot of time coming and going doing foolish things like looking for my husband up and down the beach among thousands of people to snap a picture of him with his lover. How foolish is this? I told him this was a bad idea and a "waste of time", but he did it anyway, and charged me well for all that time wasted. Later I found out that he could have simply placed a traker device on the car my husband was driving, and he could have followed him there discreetly, in order to snap the needed pictures and be done with it. Instead he parked his truck for days and days outside of his dwelling place to charge me more for all the extra time. Don did not explained my different options and his possible methods. He did what he wanted and raked in the extra time.

After a while I got nervous since I noticed he was wasting time. I asked him about how much he had already spend from my retainer, he said that I was "almost there" (meaning $1500) but that he was done, since the attorney had told him that he had enough evidence. So I asked him to then stop his work.

After this, I received an addition invoice from Don for $1500 with bogus unnecessary charges that cannot be substantiated. He said that "if I did not paid for these too, then he was not going to provide my divorce attorney with any information he would be needing in court" and that "the attorney's work was nothing without his evidence, that he deserved the money more since his work was more important, etc". I had already paid him $1500 and he had told me that he had finished. But he was not satisfied. He argued that I was going to pay a settlement to my good for nothing husband and so he wanted some of that money because he was more deserving. How greedy! I told him to keep his evidence and that I would hired a different agent. I want to take this greedy man to court but I think he made me sign for a "mediation". He is probably in the habit of extorting money.

The moral of the story is that this man is greedy and will try to milk the job. He will pretend to be simphatetic and then turn around and extort more money by keeping all the evidence and asking for twice the sum.
