Doug Morrison K-9 dog training What a Rip Off!!! Ottawa, Ontario

Hi.  Out of sheer curiosity to see if this fraud of a trainer was still in business, I googled him and found that I am not the only one who had problems with him.

6 years ago, I hired Doug to come and help train my chocolate lab who was a hyper handful.  I was pregnant and unable to do this on my own.  I found Doug through the internet and on the surface he seemed alright.  His credentials checked out and he seemed to know what he was talking about.  At this time I was also interested in becoming a trainer myself and was almost convinced by Doug to invest in his business for $5000.00 after I had my child.  

He came to the first 2 sessions.  At the second appointment he upset me as he struck my dog and hurt him... all to make a point of who was in control.  I was clear from the beginning that I would not be physical with my dog and corrected him of this.  Then he proceeded with the lesson of getting a "stay" from the dog and we scheduled our next appointment. 

The following week I was waiting on him and after a couple of hours he was a no show.  I called him several times over a couple of weeks and kept getting no answers.  I finally left him a blunt message saying I felt ripped off by him and that given my circumstances he was really leaving me in a bind.  Because he failed to respond to my messages, let alone return the money he was paid ($400) I was put in the position of having to rehome a dog that I loved very much. 

At that point I made sure I contacted people I knew who had dogs and advised them of the situation and to not recommend or hire this man.  I reported the fraud to the local police station and contacted all my local groomers, vet offices, pet stores and humane societies to inform them of this fruad.

After this, I was unsuccessful in finding him again.  Even now I am unsure of where he is but last I heard he was in the Ottawa area still teaching. 

I don't ever expect to get my money back but it would be nice to see him out of business so he cannot hurt another animal let alone prey on other people who are trusting him with a very special family member.
