D.R. HORTON drhorton poor workmanship, faulty materials, bad construction, independent contractors 350 weeks later horrified Fort Worth, Texas

I bought an investment home in January 2010.   I understood that it was constructed in 2005 by Americas Number 1 Home Builder  D R Horton.  It has a 10 year structural warranty.  All sounded good.

Now after some wind driven rain damage, the contractor discovered some disturbing facts about the construction.  I had a second and a third opinion from other competent contractors.  Even AS insurance said they will not pay due to faulty construction.  You can see the state of the house at drhorton.webs.com and I am quite frankly disgusted.  I am now looking at over $10,000 in repairs, why?  because this D R Horton home was not built to stand the test of time and weather!   In the same community, many more homes are also showing the same problems.   The contractor told me tat the builder should have overlapped metal plates when the butted them together.  The quality is very bad. The RWC warranty is actually a con,  the builder gets off the hook because they only warrant for 2 years and then it is the insurer for years 3 to 10. If you read the exclusions in an RWC warranty well.....forget about making a claim unless house falls down of its own accord of becomes inhabitable.

D R Horton customer service end their emails with  Have a nice day!   and the exclamation mark is a sign of ignorance and being cocky.  My message is clear, DO NOT buy a D R Hortom home if you care about what the exterior will be like a few years down the road.  My house was maintained and painted, didn't make a difference, its what the underneath is like that effects the longevity.
