This place advertizes that is it a place to go and trail ride horses and see the scenic veiw of there county. All it is, Is a short trail around a dirty old farm on skinny under fed horses, There feet are in terrible shape and they are all thin, Nothing like advertized, and foul mouthed people who run it.
Says in there ad, that they hire the best cowgirls and cowboys. Thats bull, These people dont know anything about horses, it's obvious by the health of the horses. I am a 5 th yr. Vet student and i was amazed of the health of these animals, that they allow the public to ride. they charged us by the hour to ride and we rode about 35 mins total around a path in there hay field. Horses were put away without ungirthing them or offering them any water. Place was dirty.. Not for family fun.... Looks like a way to make a quick buck from the city people that dont know anything about horses.

The report on Drafty Acres

AUTHOR: Lori - (U.S.A.)

I have known Johnny and Rena for about 4 years. I have seen all their horses and have not seen any starved or mistreated in any way. Rena has Helped me with my confiedence and I am able to ride again. Her horses are all well broke and good mannered. They showed draft horses at Coshocton Fair and I was there every day helping them. If the horses were in poor shape the fair board would have asked them to leave. I think these accusations are uncalled for because of a personal vandetta which I am not familiar with , but I do know of Johnny and Rena's caring nature this is not possible.

FPF Needs to get their facts straight

AUTHOR: Rena' Martin - (U.S.A.)

Ms. Lisa,
It seems that once again you are grasping at straws with information that is once again libelous and untrue. You see, since you are the one who contacted the Dept of Ag. you are the one who specifically gave my husbands name. If you were so positive that this was my horse, why then didn't you give my name in your complaint? Also, the horse was not missing for weeks, nor was he left laying there for weeks unnoticed. He died Wednesday night. He was (per USDA Documentation) buried on Thursday. He was not a "trail horse", he is clearly a 2 yr old belgian stud colt. There is no division of pastures here between horses, breeds or disciplines. I believe you mistook my boundaries for someone elses if this is what you think. Considering you have never legally been any further than my house, and in front of my barn, you would have no way of knowing where my property lines are now would you? You have never been in my barns, so don't even go there with me lady. Your little informant hasn't been on this property for well over 10+ yrs and doesn't know as much as he leads you to believe he does, so you need to stop putting all of your stock in his words. He will bury you alive and I can't wait to watch it unfold in your lap.
I had nothing to do with reporting you to the USDA or whomever you were reported to, ask Zona Gabbard she will clearly confirm that for you. I AGAIN, know nothing about any stupid fliers you reference repeatedly. I asked her directly about this situation while she was here on Friday and she openly stated that I had nothing to do with your issue, and she would gladly tell you that. If you want the truth, why don't you call her yourself since you like to lie and tell the world you are USDA approved? The USDA is not in the habit of "approving" you or anyone else for that matter. She only sent you the same format of a letter after having investigated your facility for dead livestock complaints with regard to the dead horse left at the fairgrounds. Only difference between us is that by the time she received her complaints on you, you had already buried the dead horse that laid on public property for 2 days. The same horse that the Deputy in Pike Co. tried to tell you wasn't fit to travel by trailer over 130 miles. The same horse you chose to inhumanely transport regardless of his condition, the same horse that DIED on the trailer due to your negligence and greed. Big deal who cares? I damned sure don't give a flyin rats a** what you think. You are just trying to run interference in hopes that you won't be "uncovered" for what you claim to be or do. I haven't made the first slanderous statement about you, I also have "documentation" and "affidavits" from many who don't think you are what you claim to be. Not real nice to think your world is crashing down around you is it now? Who is gonna fund your high priced habit when the truth comes out? You too will get the chance to see those if this stupidity doesn't cease immediately.
I am sure your "high falutin'" Attorney can tell you what LIBEL in inclusive of and trust me non of what has been posted anywhere is libelous, nor is it slander. It is just simply my personal opinion of who and what you are! We are all entitled to our opinions, this is still a country that believes in FREEDOM of SPEECH! Sorry about your luck.

Talk about barking up the wrong tree- you better check your information on who you think owns what out here honey! I will laugh you right out of the court house when it is over trust me! I have lots of experience in fighting frivolous lawsuits, just ask your buddy R. Pyle. He can tell you all about that whole deal. Guess what? I own that one too! Get a life, go back to doing what you claim to be a professional at, tending to your "rescued" horses, and leave me the he** alone.

I have no "totes", that obviously is again your guilty conscience speaking for you. Most who read your little quirks can see that you are in desperate need of psychiatric help. You couldn't tell the truth if it hit you in the pie-hole and attempted to pour itself out of your body.

Hmmm Guess again.

AUTHOR: Frogpondfarmdrafts - (U.S.A.)

I'm afraid that you're mistaken that I'm the one that wrote this report on your facility. Firstly, I have much better grammar. Secondly, I'm not a vet student nor have I treated others horses for money as that's to be left up to certified vets. See, what you don't understand is that I have no need to post on sites such as this. I welcome your investigations by any legal authority you see fit...because my operation is run by the book. What you failed to write when you posted your libelous statements about my organization is that you posted FALSE information about a horse that passed in transit to our farm. Those flyers from Sugarcreek are now in the hands of our attorney and you will again get to see that VERY SOON. Oh, and lets not forget the visit I had from the USDA/Dept of Ag on your false complaints. You forgot to post on our report that we are now PROUDLY USDA APPROVED! Anyone wanting that document is free to contact us for that. We will also proudly display it on our website very soon.

Maybe here is where you should post the pictures of the dead horse (2.26.09) in the wash bed in your pasture that's been laying there for weeks for local kids who pass down the county road by your farm to see. Did you think that everyone in the county hated us and wouldn't call to get something done? I also have the violations you were cited with by the USDA and Ohio Department of Ag. *Contact me directly if you would like a copy of this document. Im sure the Guerney Co Health Department will have one as well. Pretty petty of you to make your husbands name take the brunt of what was clearly one of your trail horses. Guess that's so you can now say it was his and not yours? Funny, considering your horses are pastured in one field and his in another.

This clearly shows the HORSEMANSHIP your farm proudly displays...a horse missing from the herd for more then a week and nobody cared or noticed enough to find it. Do you not feed these poor creatures or check their well being daily?

But again, I wish I could take credit for this posting, however, you're barking at the wrong person on this one. Guess you better start searching thru the totes of information you hoard on people.and find the real culprit.

Slander of Drafty Acres Employees, Livestock, an Facility

AUTHOR: Cripple Cowboy - (U.S.A.)

On Febuary 22nd 2009, I was at this Facility. I noticed no thin or skinny horses as it was previoulsy stated, also the barn was in very good condition. I expecially noticed that her watering troff was crystal clear, i was very impressed by it, because i know myself how difficult it is to get a troff that clean as i do have horses myself.

If it wouldn't of been for the owner of this facility, my newest mare that i aquired on this specific date (Feb. 22nd) would of been placed in a kill pin if taken to an auction. The owner of the facility was good enuff to go an pick up the mare an bored the horse in her facility over night so that i could pick her up the next night. Also if it wasn't for the Drafty Acres owner helping me with the transaction of my newest mare, her fate would of been much different then it is now. So i'd like to thank Drafty Acres for my newest addition to our facility, and for giving the mare a second chance at life.

As far as the trails being underrated, i myself have never been on the trails. But i indeed plan on hauling my own horses to this facility an riding these trails. Not every facility would let you bring your own horses to ride on there trails. I myself have a dissability and i am not confortable on jus any horse. This facility has welcomed me an my trusty steed to come an join there rides. This is a good source of therapy for me, so i appreciate what Drafty Acres is doing for me.

Thanks Drafty Acres,
The Cripple Cowboy

Drafty Acres is NOT a rip off etc.

AUTHOR: Jane - (U.S.A.)

I have been working with and riding horses for nearly all of my life. I have been to quite a few riding stables throughout Ohio, even working for a couple of them. I have been to Drafty Acres in Lore City numorous times. In fact I have gotten to know the owners quite well.

First of all, the Drafty Acres staff are well knowledged in the care, feeding, use, and handling of horses. Rena and Marci and the rest of the staff are very experienced horse people.

Secondly, I have been to thier barn many times unannounced and I have NEVER seen days worth of manure in the barn. Seems to me it must be cleaned oftened.

I have seen probably all of Drafty Acres horses and I have only observed one that was "skinny" He was a 30 something year old App. He did show his age, not neglect.

I have never seen the staff at Drafty Acres use foul language around a customer now bad mouth an inexperience rider.
I have seen the staff use patience, kindness, and lots of laughs to help a new rider get over thier first time jitters.

Last fall my stepdaughter wanted a horse and to look for one I took her to see Rena and her staff. That is how much I trust them. And of course they did not let me down. They had "the perfect horse" for my stepdaughter. Here it is coming spring and we still have the mare purchased from Drafty Acres. Proof it is.

#6 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Drafty Acres has a fantastic reputation

AUTHOR: Rena' Martin - (U.S.A.)

This report is an absolute bunch of lies. The individual who wrote this report is an obvious supporter/volunteer/owner of a local rescue in Cambridge Oh that we are preparing to file charges of slander against. These people have slandered my business on a public forum for over a year. I just recently stumbled upon that information and have contacted my Attorney to file suit citing slander, defamation of character and lieble. Please visit alexbrownracing.com and search for Drafty Acres Stable and/or Frog pond farm and you will be able to read further the information that lead to this false report, as well as the rebuttals made on that forum. These are a group of supposed rescue people who have developed a huge pattern of "adopting" horses out to people, collecting the money and fees, and after a short period of time, they go and take them back and accuse them of not feeding etc. so they can "adopt" the horses out again and make more money. They are actively under Legal investigation regarding their fraudulent practices while being a non-profit organization. They dump dead horses off of trailers in public places, as well as many other things which will become public in the near future. They are trying here, to do damage control for their own actions.

My barn is always open for visitors and they too have been publicly informed of that offer. They have chosen to continue to lie and speak untruths to try to scar our reputation. We have very good references and will gladly forward those to anyone who wishes to speak to them at any time. Our facility is NOT dirty, our HORSES ARE NOT SKINNY and our GUIDES are NOT filthy mouthed. I offer to the public: vet bills, farrier receipts, feed bill receipts and basically any other information requested. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any concerns or questions.
