My story is just about the same as Kevin's of Westfield, IN.

My boyfriend called me and was actually the victim of this scam. He was at Glendale Mall parking lot going to the library at 2:30PM on 7/18/07 and was hailed by two guys in a silver mini van (liscense plate BLV3385) offering a great deal on a surround sound system.
They said they were on their way to a client installation for Dream Audio Works and this was additional product that the client didn't order and wasn't supposed to get. The box said it was a Matrix Mx605t surround sound home theatre system. The scammer said it was worth $3,000 in an unopened box adn wanted $300. He also offered a $500 warranty, $400 worth of cable and wires. He said "you can call my boss to verify the system, man!"

As I am on the phone with him, I looked up the system and found one on craig's list saying it is worth $2,500 and selling for $1,000, so we thought $250 wasn't a bad deal. I hung up and he went to the bank to close the deal. Apparently the scumbags followed him there.
Then I looked up Dream Audio Works on the computer and did not find anything...hmmmm....except a RIPOFF REPORT. Before I could even read it, I am dialing my boyfriend's number to tell him "NO". I was 30 seconds too late as he already had given him the money and opened the box to show him. I heard the guy on the other end saying, "dude, I already opened the box, I can't do anything with it now, you bought it". I was then worried about a robbery, because he was at the ATM. Luckily that didn't happen

As he sped off my boyfriend got his plate#BLV3385. There was a police officer in the area that he flagged down and gave him the whole story. The cop said it didn't even sound like a legitimate plate. A few minutes lapsed and not sure what happened after that, but the cop took off in the direction of the van, but unable to do anything about the rip off.

I haven't gotten home yet to see if the system is valid or functional. I'm just po'd that I was 30 seconds too late to stop this from happening. Not sure where these guys are getting this equipment. The only name we have is Andrew with the same phone as Kevin's in westfield's previous listing 317-645-5739.
Hope this helps someone else beore it is too late.
