I became a victim of fraud in June when i found charges from Avangate, Dri.Avast and Norton on my bank statement for software I never ordered and had never heard of. There was another from another company called Esett but They and Norton refunded the money between the bank disputing charges and my contacting of Norton myself.

My bank initially covered all the charges but months later, reversed the charges because they said the hacker had used my mailing address which was an unusual address and therefore it was disputable that I had not ordered the services myself.

I traced the mailing information to a Amazon account i had created to order from and yet the bank refused to honor any furthur dispute and I was forced to continue to try to resolve the disputes with Avast - Avongate myself.

At first Avast responded within weeks sounding apologetic and said they needed proof that I had been charged since they could find no record of my account.

I sent photo proof of segments of my bank statement showing the charges and Avast wrote back to say that I had the wrong company, that they were Avast and that i had ordered Bit Defender and they could not help me.

I looked at the statement again and noticed that one of the charges was from Avangate and one was from Dri.Avast so i wrote back and clarified.

I then looked up Avangate and called them and got to speak to a rep. who said i needed the now defunct debit card number to be able to look up the account. When i provided that, they said that i needed proof that the bank had closed the dispute because their records showed it was still open.

I contacted my bank who said they would have trouble providing that proof but would look into it.

I wrote to an address that the rep at Avangate gave me - email address of pay@avangate.com.

When i looked at my sent emails, it brought up the same link that i had been corresponding with Avast on, proving that it was actually the same company.

Researching this on the internet has also showed this link. I am still out for 89.99 for a charge called Minnetonka.Mn linked to Dri.Avast and a charge of 179.95 showing up on bank statement as Bitdefender. Avangate B.

This is unbelievable fraud to me as I see others have experienced completely hacked charges for similar items from this company. I will not stop until i get my money back and am hoping they somehow comply to refund the money that was stolen from me.

Update on refund from Avangate and Dri.Avast

AUTHOR: Frayed - ()

POSTED: Sunday, December 14, 2014

After almost six months of re submitting proof of charges Avangate proved to be very helpful at getting the facts straight and refunding the 179.00 approx.charges. I however have gotten nowhere with Dri.Avast. I have been deflected to Digital River and a website they use as an auto response that says.. to serve your needs better..and gives the web address of avast.com support. I have tried every way to send or forward to this address. Even complete with the http:// www. Version. Nothing works. So I've gone directly to Digital River and am hoping for a breakthrough. I'm not giving up. I got refunds from all the companies that were used in my hacked debit card experience. That would be Norton and E.set. and Avangate.bitdefender and Dri.avast. I made almost minimum wage and was ripped off for about a total of 500 dollars. I've gotten most of it back but noone should have to just eat hundreds of dollars of unauthorized charges so that's why I keep writing publically.
