I wouldn't recommend any one ever to purchase a car from drive time my experience with them were horrible and they need to be stopped I was only 5 days late on my payment they came to my job and repossess my vehicle after one of the reps told me on the phone they wouldn't as long as I made payment that week . I called them the next morning to see how I can get my vehicle back that I just had purchased from them 2 months ago to mention this was my first time late on a payment and I explained to them why anyways I called them the next morning to see how I can get my car back the rep was extremely rude and told me I have only 24hrs to come up with $798 to get my vehicle back or else it would be gone for good . 24hrs ???? Are you serious that's just not right something have to be wrong with that just collect my down payment and except my payments but one time I'm late they come to my job make a seen and repossess my vehicle then tell me I have only 24hrs to come up with payment .. Luckily my sister has a kind heart and let me borrow the money to get my car out .. If anyone is doing a law suit on them count me in .. Also if your reading this I repeat do not by a car from them there money hungry and they will screw you over any chance they get worst mistake ever ..

Consider this your wakeup call

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, December 10, 2015

You need to consider this your wakeup call.

Yes, I know at 18 you have the "I know everything" attitude and think you have a Teflon coat that nothing will ever stick to you.  I also know that the odds are that you will continue to ignore this advice and go about your merry "I am not going to be told what to do" ways.  But in a few years when you run into credit issues, I do also hope that you remember what people tried to tell you.

So first off you can not have "good" credit at 18.  It takes years of POSITIVE history.  Since you can not legally get credit until you are 18.  If this was your first car loan, at most you may have a couple of credit cards that aren't even a year old.  You perhaps may have a student loan if you are in college.   Sure you may have a "high" credit score but it is based on a very thin credit file, and for more major loans creditors won't even consider you until you have 2 years of positive history.

Yes, if you go on the "well as long as I am not 30 days late I can't be touched".  Eventually that will come up and bite you.  As you see Drivetime doesn't play the 30-day "game".  They don't because they deal with people who in the past have not shown they can handle credit and have attitudes such as yours.  Over time you will find that creditors will tend to hold you to the agreement you signed, and any breaks they cut you are totally up to them and consider yourself lucky if they do.

You can come here and tell us that you had other finance companies, and you just went with Drivetime because of a reccomendation.  But as you see people with a few more decades of experience know that is just your "defense" mechanism where you don't want to admit you goofed, or you outright lied.  Because people who know what they are doing don't decide to pay more interest just because someone recomends them. If Drivetime was the best rate you could get, that goes along with the entire lack of credit history situation where other creditors considered you a much higher risk.  Oh and yes there are companies much stricter than Drivetime.  Many of the Sub-Prime lenders require you to put a GPS device on your car that not only will disable your car if you fail to make a payment, it makes it simpler for them to find it for a Reposession.

So in the end I really do hope you take this as a Wake-Up call and don't do down the dark path of credit.

Two months. Too funny.

It takes several years of on-time payments to establish a good credit history. Two months is NOTHING. It will be at least seven years before the repossession cycles off your credit report.

“If anyone is doing a law suit on them count me in”

Sue them for what??

You failed to honor the terms of a financial agreement. You may get sued for the difference between the resale price and the amount you still owe.

Typical deadbeat whine

Here is the deal..

You are with a sub-prime lender because you have not proven you can handle credit and no other finance company would touch you with a 10 foot pole.   As such they are going to be stricter in making sure that you follow through on the legal agreement you signed.  This includes making your payments ON-TIME.  If you fail to meet your obigliation, they will use their legal rights and reposess the vehicle.

You seem to think that 2 months of payments give you some sort of creditiblity and allows you to be late.  You are 100% wrong.  This is also probably the main reason why you are stuck with a sub-prime lender to begin with, and will be with companies like this for a long time.
