Unfortunetly I found my way to these con artists by a relative. I had heard that it was easy to get financed by drivetime because it was in house finacing, and I had no credit at the time and I was turned down by multiple dealerships. I ended up getting a 2002 ford taurus and it all went down hill from there. When I purchased the car the manager told me of a few things that he noticed that were wrong with the car when he drove it( which didn't seem to bring down the price of the car). One thing was that there was a thumping sound and slight vibration/thumping when driving, also that the face place for the audio system was loose. So he made an appiontment to bring in the car to be repaired at the riverside office.

The service man there told me the thumping was caused by a dented rim. He replaced it and I thought everything would be fine. About a week later the thunping came back and got worse and the brakes started making a really loud squeak noise and made a grinding feel in the brake pedal. So I called to bring it in again and I had to take it to montclair. I ended up going there three diffent times for the same problems and another problem which was a sqeak in the engine. They ended replacing the rotors, brakes twice, repaired the right drive axle, and deglazed the brakes.

You would think by then all my problems would be fixed but no. Again there is a thumping and it's the worse that's ever been, so bad that it makes the steering wheel vibrate violently, the car vibrate, and the brakes are sqeaking still with the grinding sensation. it's to the point where I do not feel safe driving my two kids in the car. So, I ended up purchasing a good car and I am thinking of letting Drivetime do me a favor and reposses the crap car they sold me. Do not deal with these people they will only take advantage of you. If any one has any advice for me email me I am looking for some good advice

As you stated in the complaint, you took the car in several times and DT did all kinds of things to try and make the car right. But DT doesn't care, it's all DT's fault.
75,000 cars a year sold for DT and this site has all of 233 complaints from over 10 years of business. What a joke. You buy a car with 70 or 80k on it and you expect it to be perfect for forever? This is an impossibility for a co. that sells so many cars. Dt is great for people that take it for what it is......a place to help you re-establish credit via the use of a financed vehicle. No one said it was cheap to repair the damage YOU did to YOURSELF by not paying your previous bills on time. Pay the piper, whether it's the DT Piper or some other Piper, no one is giving you back your credit without something paid on time for a long time.

As for the cars, they do the best they can and no one is intentionally selling a bad car. Fact is cars don't talk and it's not always as black and white as you want it to be. In the big picture......these complaints are small potatoes compared to the thousands of satisfied customers that DT services every day.

Are deplorable and a worse representation of your company then her claims about the car.

ALL Fords are a piece of junk? Come on you really don't believe that do you? There were known problems with the car when she bought it and the car is only 4 years old.

Its unfortunate that you have a car that is not running properly but it seems as though you have had it only a month or so since your report was filed in April of this year.

Drivetime is a dealership strictly for those, as yourself, that have turned down elsewhere and have no other place to go for a car. As such, they are giving a chance that no one else will and because of that and the enormous risk they take on by allowing you drive home a car for a few hundred bucks down, is a good but pricey opportunity for you to have a car.

For every 5 customers such as yourself that buy a car from drivetime, 3 fail to make payments ontime- or ever, and then turn into a repossession resulting in drivetime losing thousands since most of these cars are trashed by the buyers and unable to be resold. It would be as though you had a $1000 and lent $200 to 5 friends expecting them to pay you back and 3 just left town and never paid you- that is simplifiying it but its the same principle. If you desired to help other friends after being screwed over, you would have no choice but to charge them a higher fee since you have no idea which of those 5 friends will never pay you back- you risk that all 5 will not pay you but hope that all of them will.

There are very strict laws that protect all car buyers against bad cars sold by dealers- its called the Lemon Law. I know for a fact that drivetime has no desire to sell you a bad car on purpose as it increases the chances you won't keep making payments on a car that is not driveable. If you behave rationally and calmly and educate yourself on your rights and approach the situation with a cool head and a goal of getting the car fixed properly or exchange it for another car at drivetime, I can almost guaranty you will get this problem remedied. My first suggestion is to take a day to learn about your rights as a consumer and start pulling together repair documentation to support your situation. File your complaint with the state and communicate with drivetime in writing, with proof of delivery for everything you mail.

Drivetime is a huge nationwide company that has spent a lot of money to be known as a high risk lender that desires to make their customers happy. If you attack them or make threats in person or by phone it will get you nowhere. Act promptly as time is critical and keep all documentation.
