I fell off of a low roof while at work and hurt my arm. It hurt like hell but I thought maybe I could tough it out and not go to the emergency room. I didn't know if it was broken, I knew I couldn't move it without feeling trmendous pain. I barely made it home, and had to drive about 30 mph or less because I was in so much pain. Every bump just intensified the pain. Once home I got some ice and placed it in a bag and put in on my arm. I ntoiced it started turning black and blue, so I called up a friend and said that I needed to go to the emergency room. She drove me to the emrgency room and I walked in and told them what happened. I was told to wait in the lobby. I waited there for about three hours in immense pain. Finally a nurse called my name. She asked me if I was running a temperature. I told her no, then she asked me if I felt nacous or sick to my stomach. I told her no it's just my arm. She went and got a themometer and placed it under my toungue. She then had me remove my shirt and sit on a bed. She told me the doctor will be with me shortly. I waited another 15 minutes before the doctor showed up. He asked me another round of questions while writing on a tablet. He then asked me if I had a history of mental illness. I thought that was strange and I said what does that have to do with my arm? He said it's just a standard question. I said First I had to wait three hours and then once I finally was called back I didn't even get any pain medication. I've been sitting here with no shirt on while freezing my a** off, and you ask me strange questions that have nothing to with my arm. He said nothing but uh hmm , and wrote more on his tablet. I was pissed! He then said okay wait here and the nurse will come by and direct you to the x-ray room. He left and once again I sat there with my shirt off. Finally the nurse came and told me to follow her to the x-ray room. Once there she asked me to turn my arm in several different directions. I was already in pain but that just made it worse! Then she had me go back to the first room I started from and sit on the same bed that I was sitting on. She put alcohol on my arm and wrapped it in a sling and told that I would need to come back in a few days to get a cast on. She left and I sat there for a little while and then another nurse came in and asked me if I had been helped yet. I said yeah. She then told me that I needed to leave because they need that room for other patients. Not one drop of pain medicine! I asked if I could get help with my shirt, and she acted as if she didn't hear me. I had to grab my shirt with my other hand and put it on. I walked out and was told they would mail me the bill.

Once I got the bill, I was shocked to discover that I owed $2,532 for just having an x-ray and getting a sling and some bandages. I called and asked what the hell this was and the clerk said well the doctor had to see you and for the x-ray and of course other care and treatment. I said well I can't pay this! She said, okay well then we will have to garnish your wages. I told her fine you do that!

Duncan Regional Hospital doesn't have a professional staff and they don't seem to care about their patients unless they have MONEY! If the patient doesn't have money they're treated like crap!

I think an investigation needs to be launched into the questionable activities of this hospital. I've heard many reports of people who were in car accidents that don't get treated properly and some who mysteriously die. I've also heard that some people who have injuries but are talking and breathing fine mysteriously die a few hours later. I wouldn't be surprised if they have some kind of deal with funeral directors in Duncan Oklahoma or the surrounding areas in which Duncan Regional Hospital makes money after someone dies and the funeral director and the hospital both get a cut.

I would reccomend going to another hospital for treatment of injuries. They seem to take on interns who don't know what the hell they're doing, and they rack up unecessary charges on your hospital bill!

Emergency rooms are for emergencies! The reason you probably had to wait is because there were real emergencies like people with dire life or death situations.  You did not receive pain meds because a nurse needs a Dr to prescribe them.  I can only think the reason they gave you a sling is because your arm was too swollen for a cast.  As for the x-ray - the teh needs to x-ray the bones at all angles to see the break (the arm has more than one bone). I know this because I have broken lots of bones and x-rays need to be done in order to see the real break.  As for your bitching about the bill - that is what any ER charges.

Don't like it then wait and see your own physician - THAT is the way healthcare is today.  Like it or not. As for the intern crap they are not allowed to practice any kind of medicine until they pass Medical school.  And as for your "stories" that is just hearsay period.  Grow up
