ordered a 13-DVD set of How The West Was Won for a friend of mine. The set was received and she was very excited until she put them in her DVD player and tried to view them. The first 2 would not even load and the subsequent ones that did either were of extremely poor quality and had the TNT logo in the lower right corner. As an extra "feature" some even had commercials!

I wrote to the company and received the same reply multiple times that has appeared in other ripoff reports:
_______________________
Hello,

Thank you for your recent contact.

We appreciate ALL feedback, both positive
and negative.

Please keep in mind an Official DVD Collection
has never been released for this series and
what you received was a Collectors/Fan
Version.

Unfortunately, there is a problem with the
actual DVD Collection and sending a replacement
set will NOT help as we are no longer dealing
with that supplier.

Therefore, there are 2 options:

1. Receive a $30.00 REFUND and KEEP the DVD Collection

-OR-

2. Return the DVD Collection and get a Full Refund

Please let us know which option you prefer
and we will take care of it immediately.

Thank you!

Ok, fine. I wrote back requesting their return address and an RA number if needed to return the set. Not having heard anything from their 24/7 support site, I wrote a separate e-mail two days later asking the same questions. The same day, I received the same reply as before with neither question answered. I sent another e-mail pointing out that I had received the same reply and told them that I wanted to receive an address on where to send the set along with a full refund of $69.99, letting them know that if I did not receive the expected reply to my questions along with a refund, I would be going to my bank for a chargeback.

I have not received any communications since and feel that I have been very fair in dealing with this organization. Tomorrow I am headed for my bank to initiate a chargeback.

Last update - Finally got the refund from the (para)site

AUTHOR: dimples - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 11, 2007

I wanted to make sure that I posted an update to my previous reports. The bank statement that I received in the mail on Saturday showed that I finally did receive a refund for $69.99 from Universal Gift Ventures.

Ironically, I still haven't seen that the package was delivered to the address given so it could be stuck in customs for all I know. The $5.00 shipping charge that was part of the original payment was not refunded and I paid $8.26 to ship the garbage back to the company. This little venture cost a lot of time and $13.26 but it sounds like I was more fortunate than some of the others who have posted their reports. It is a real shame that people cannot purchase something online from what appears to be a reputable company and receive legitimate products.

After e-mailing these people twice a day for several days and receiving either no reply or the same reply as shown above, I gave them a final choice. I would either go to my bank and request a chargeback or they would give me their address to mail the DVDs back to. I checked my e-mail before going to work and found the following e-mail in my inbox:

you a COMPLETE REFUND of your purchase.

The next e-mail once again, was the same one that was shown in my original ripoff report for a total of 5. I boxed up the set and mailed the package at the USPS the following day according to the instructions. At this time, I am waiting for a refund. I have called my bank regarding the process for receiving a chargeback and once it has been confirmed that the package was delivered but no refund has hit my bank account, I will start the process in motion.

Response to DVDCollections.tv Complaint

AUTHOR: Kim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 26, 2007

Hi. I too have had problems with this company. I ordered the Columbo Series and paid like $85 for the set but I was told by The Canadian Post, where it was shipped out of Scarborough, ONTARIO, that it was "stuck in customs" in the U.S.

I have written to the company now several times about tracing the package but they will not respond. I tried locating their phone number to no avail, so I went back to my credit card from my bank per the charge and found out that they are UNIVERSAL GIFT VENTURES in MISSISSAUGA CA.

I was to receive the DVD set on Oct 21, but this company won't even respond. Do you know how to contact the Official Business Site where Canadian businesses are to register to conduct business? I'd like to know who the actual owner is to this company and or report them, or at least get more identifying contact information on them?

Any suggestions?

Thanks and I have an email addy if you can contact me: (((ROR REDACTED))).
