Earthlink They sent me a bill with charges due on 1/18/07. Charges that I had disputed because I had cancelled my account with them, owing to my addition of high speed internet. Upon contacting an online representative to talk about these charges, i was told they were in collections. Atlanta Georgia

I cancelled membership with earthlink after I received high speed internet. I continued receiving bills from them. The last bill stated the charges were due on 1/18/07 for 34.41. I then got on to there web site and spoke with an online rep. She subsequently told me after many wordy responses that the charges (due on 1/18/07) had been forwarded to CCS, corporate collection services, and gave me a phone number for them.
I immediately dialed their number as I was chatting with the rep, and they said they had no record of anything in my name being forwarded to their dep't. The representative said she could not help me any more, and CCS said they could not help me either.
I have had a very bad experience with earthlink in trying to resolve my bill, and phoned them numerous times. They said they had only 1 record of any conversation with me on Dec. 29/06. NOT TRUE.

AUTHOR: Willie - (U.S.A.)

Keep a record of every conversation you've had with Earthlink/CCS. Once you get your first collection letter from CCS, respond by sending CCS a certified letter requesting they validate the debt. You can also fax CCS a letter to (216) 292-5713. If anyone with CCS or Earthlink contact you after sending that letter, you should file a complaint with the FTC, you can also file a lawsuit for violating the FDCPA.
