Called to cancel Earthlink dialup service because it didn't perform as expected.Was told by customer service rep that if I agreed to extend the service for one month for free as a backup to my new satellite ISP I would not have to pay the required cancellation fee.
I agreed. Called back a month later to cancel because I did not use earthlink at all during the extended time period.
Received email that the service would be cancelled effective 12/25/2015. Later received bank statement that earthlink withdrew monthly payment on 12/28/2012, three days after cancellation.
Called customer service 01/14/2013 and was told the withdrawal was part of cancellation fee. Explained earlier conversation with customer service rep aboput no cancellation fee. Received no acknowledement of prior call, just told would have to pay fee.
Would never do business with again. Only company where I have expereinced worse customer service and lied too about fees, etc is SiriusXM radio.
