On june 15th 2006 it was brought to my attention thru slickdeals.net of eastbay.com having a 30% off coupon available and that they also had a hannspree 15' lcd basketball tv advertised showing reg. price at $399.00 with that price slashed out and showing the clearence price of $49.99 with a $30.00 shipping charge so after coupon and shipping the total coming out to be about $ 65.00.
I ordered 4 of these tv for a total of $259.96. At 8:30 am I recieved 2 order conformation later that evening at around 10:30 pm, I recieved a call from someone from eastbay informing me that the tv I ordered were a typographical error and that they could not honor the price that I purchased the tv at but that I could have them for the price of $499.99. Then went on to email me a $25.00 gift certtificate for my inconvenience which I never used

I used to work for Eastbay several years ago and have since worked for three other call-center-based companies. Typographical errors are unfortunate, but they happen with every company. In many cases, deals simply cannot be honored at the incorrect price.
As long as there is no financial loss to the consumer, it's difficult to label this as fraud, or even a rip-off. If you accidentally put out a classified ad for your used car at $1K less than what you meant to, you wouldn't be obligated to honor that price. You would have the opportunity to explain the error to any interested parties before any money exchanges hands.
It sounds like a similar situation happened here.
