I purchased a puppy from petland and of course I financed the puppy. Petland ran my credit and came back immediately saying I was financed. What they didn't tell me was that Easy Pay Finance charges 180% interest. The very next day Easy Pay Finance called me and said my payments were wrong. I originally was supposed to pay $175 but they changed the payment to $294. My puppy was supposed to cost $2500 now cost almost $7000 through Easy Pay. Do not now or ever use this company. They sent me a statement saying that I could use their website but I cannot get into the site. This company is a HUGE ripoff!

Why Did You Agree To It?

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, March 26, 2017

At some point in the sales process, you were presented with a CONTRACT which YOU were to READ and agree to the terms therein by signing said contract otherwise they would have let you leave with the dog. Did you even bother to read what you agreed to? If so, you would have seen the APR and at that point could have said "no". Being that you agreed to the terms, you have no legitimate complaint!

I believe you.  The fact is - you didn't read the loan paperwork. Lenders are required to give you the details in writing before you get the loan and you clearly failed to read the loan documents before signing.  Never sign without reading. If there are blanks, don't sign it. If it is on one of those electronic keypads where the paperwork is hidden from view - don't sign it. Have the paperwork printed so you can go over every single line.  If you don't understand it, take it to an attorney to read and translate to you.  The point is this:  never sign for anything without a complete understanding of the document you are about to sign. That is how you get hurt financially.

Now - about financing a puppy. If you have to finance the purchase, then you can't afford one. Once you buy a puppy, or any pet, you have ongoing expenses for food and veterinary expenses and grooming etc. The last thing anyone needs to do is finance the purchase. Save your money first if you want a pet so you don't have finance charges on top of all the other charges incurred with pet ownership.
