As a recent college graduate of a prestigious institution, I am taking my first steps into the real world, and the unstable - unpredictable job market. I have been using numerous resources to attempt to get my resume and name out there so I am able to start supporting myself and obtaining the so called "American Dream." (and a new Camero)

Anyway, one of the resources that I have been using are the numerous internet-based career service boards (Monster, Career Builder, The Ladders, etc), and on most of them, I came across the ad for the company named "EB Manning." The ads(listed on pretty much every possible website known to modern man) read that they are looking for an entry-level sales consultant(or some variation of that vague title) in the Cleveland, Ohio area. The definition of an entry level job as far as I am aware is one in which the applicant just finished a degree program, but has no prior experience in the sought-after industry. All of the job postings list that the applicant must have a degree, and the position is for a sales, consultation, or marketing background.

In addition, if a person is not deceived by the poorly worded/cheesy listing and continues on(like I did), the posting promises the applicant bonuses, travel, training, and lastly, unlimited earning potential. That should have been a red flag right there, but my desperate need of employment and income made myself blind to the corny and obviously unascertainable promises.

In addition, after reading the posting, right away something did not sound exactly right, and it all seemed to be to good to be true. A check of their website(www.ebmanning.com) turns up a website that lists only vague information about their so called "company." The only information tabs listed are careers,FAQ's, and some kind of contact information. The thing that really stood out for me was that all of the information is geared towards attempting to reel-in employees who fit the characteristics that they must have borrowed from a self-help video for employment-seekers or their textbook for their online business degree program.

Now for the good stuff. After reading(and admittedly, in my desperation, applying), I continued my job search on another job-listing website, where I stumbled across an add advertising for entry level pharmaceutical sales listed by a company called "Keystone International". I clicked it, and low-and behold an advertisement came up that looked strikingly similar to the EB Manning listing.

Now it may be just me but that listing looks similar, especially when one examines the contact information. Actually, it is the very same. Whats more, if a person puts the address into google maps, they find themselves staring at an "office building" no bigger then a dentist office or pizza shop. I find it hard to believe that two separate company's could be in such a small office. The thirty or so people they supposedly want to hire(both "company's together) would have to stand all day without the aid of a desk or even possibly a chair for lack of space. The best part of this new company is that if you browse their website, the designer must have really been impressed with the website for EB Manning, for both have exactly the same information, with only slight differences in design and overall layout.(www.keystoneintl.net/default.aspx)

It may just be me, but I find it really hard to believe that two supposedly major companies having dealings with "Fortune 500 & 100" company's have such ill-conceived and poorly designed websites. Surely, since they have positions available for numerous employees with "huge income potentials," they could hire and pay an eleventh grade computer geek to come up with a better website conception to attract sales and employees. A company's website should not be solely geared to attract employees, but attract sales and clients, since they are the ones that pay the bills(and the employees).

I am not taking the time to write this to bash the people who responded to the advertisements of two fictitious companies'. After all, I did, and I am a college graduate with two degrees. The state of our economy is dire, and we are living in desperate times where people are concerned for themselves and their own families. People should not advertise for positions that have little possibility to pay, for it is a waste of time for the people who are tricked into responding and their time could be better spent driving to interviews that actually do have good paying positions.

My deduction, after researching as much as I can in a short time and relying on my education(lol that sounds good doesn't it?), is that the person who placed the ad's on every website(with the exception of Oprah's) is one who is an independent contractor of another company, who's job description reads that they are supposed to keep tabs on the "Mother" company's sales and service people and brick and mortar stores, but is to LAZY to do it by themselves, and wants unsuspecting innocent people to do it for them(walking and talking is hard these days isnt it?).

My advise to anyone reading this is to stay away from EB Manning and/or Keystone International (not the real company that is in the business of providing support for other legitimate business, and also who's website strikes resemblance to the other fake Keystone Intl's website). Please keep looking for REAL job opportunities that are out there that provide real money(not just Monopoly dollars) for compensation and benefits.

Also, well writing this I came across another 'hero,' who wrote a report about Keystone Intl(I am using the abbreviated name because I'm mad and they are not worthy of any respect at this point) that a similar company named Commerce Consulting Inc., who's website and advertisements promise the same things that the other two above "company's" do. Note the resemblance between websites, although this one is better done and does provide a better description.

In closing, keep pursuing legitimate business opportunities, they are out the and will provide more rewarding careers. Anyone can pose as an employer that is supposedly looking for employees to fill fairy tale positions, and can write a half decent sounding proposal to grab up applications, or worse snatch up social security numbers for who-knows what purpose. The moral of this epic post is that be careful to be sure you research the company you are applying with, because there are a lot of scams out there on the internet, and protecting one's personal information is getting even harder because scammers will try to get it any way they can, for they are to lazy to earn an honest living or buck, as such it may be with the people over there at EB Manning. RIP-OFF!!!
