After a chat conversation with eBay this morning regarding the fees that they charged me I discovered that eBay charges you 8.75% on the final value of the item sold when you use the "free" insertion fee for the first 5 items that you list each month. The problem is that they don't tell you this and when I inquired as to where this policy was listed I was referred to a June2009 newsletter. There is no where on the eBay site that this fee structure is explained. The fee for items 6-?? listed with eBay the fees are 8.75% of the first $25.00 and 3.50% of the final value over the $25.00. This means that you are paying eBay an extra 5.25% of the final value of an item sold in order to save $0.15. This cost me over $11.00 on one item.
Deceptive practice.

From the OP:
"There is no where on the eBay site that this fee structure is explained."
I went to the eBay website and found the fee structure in less than twenty seconds. Here's the link (ROR may redact it):
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/selling-basics.html
There are two links on that page that take you to an explanation of eBay's fee structure.
