Today 6-5-13, My son in law had his vehicle towed from an apartment complex. Yes he was in a marked handicapped spot, however, this private company is from Odessa and the complex is in Midland. approx 20 miles. So this justifies them in charging $290 to a 19 year old newlywed with a baby on the way.

When they showed up to claim the vehicle they of course were upset. They don't have that kind of money and most wreckers leave a sticker notice on vehicles before they are towed. but not this place. The lady that supposedly was the owner of the place told my daughter that since she was not the registered owner she would have to wait outside. She is pregnant and it is 108 today in Odessa.

I called the lady in charge and I asked her why she thought it was necessary to make my pregnant daughter wait outside and she said anyone with that comes in with an attitude will be asked to wait outside. I told her that was rediculous and that I was possibly going to call an attorney and she hung up on me. Real mature ma'am.

They also towed this vehicle that has 26" rims on it. To our knowledge it is not safe at all to do this. It can cause major damage to the vehicle. When my son in law asked how they towed it he was told ... It doesn't matter how it got here but it is here. wow I am appalled and this person has no business being in charge of any business.

To you Ms. Stacy. My daughter is 20 and was at the time. She is married. Graduated from high school and is a Junior at UTPB. She has a full time job and is a Christian young lady that waited until she was married to have sex. So yeah I think I did do a pretty good job as a mom and my daughter is amazing. So is my son in law, he has a great job and takes very good care of my daughter. The rims were a gift from my daughter to him for Christmas. She made payments on them and worked extra to get them paid off. So, quit judging people that you know nothing about.

I never said my son- in- law was right parking in the handicapped spot. She should not have done that. It was a private parking lot for the apartment that they do pay $1300 per month for. My complaint is the rudeness of the company. or is customer service something that is not required anymore? I know it is at my job and I would never be allowed to hang up on someone or talked to them the way this lady talked. She should be ashamed.

As far as how did they get there? They drove my daughters car. She has a vehicle too. They made her go outside like she was a dog. They over charged. And they could have damaged the vehicle.

Yes he probably should have been given a ticket. Not had his truck towed to Odessa.

As I said. This is about customer service. Being professional and civil.

My fiance and I live in an apartment complex and pay PLENTY of money, never late, never had the cops called or any complaints from neighbors.

We just got back into town last night/this morning at 130am and it was labor day yesterday, the office was closed and we had a rental vehicle and parked it in a space and had to have it back by 8am. We woke up this morning and IT WAS GONE!! I was so f'n livid and when we called the tow company they gave us all this attitude and well, let's just say it didn't go over very well with me.

So then we went to pick the truck up.....when we showed up they told us we had to have the rental agreement from the place we rented the vehicle from, ok whatever got it, THEN we went all the way back across BFE and THEN they told us we had to have a stupid little paper notarized to prove it was us (because obviously our ID wasn't good enough for them but it was for the notary).

We take back the paper and had to pay $291 to get the RENTAL vehicle out that they towed from OUR apartment complex!! I could go and punch one of those stupid a** people in there!!

What a load of crap

He parked in a handicap space therefore he broke the law.  As far as the from Odessa to Midland - please.  I know that area in my sleep.  Just think for a moment - this complex has every right to hire any tow company they want.  Show me a law that states they MUST hire a Midland company to tow illegal vehicles.

Seems he has money to buy huge rims but not money to take care of his obligations ie: parking in an spot that was designated for the handicapped!! Plus I doubt you have any Attorney at all - blind threats - these people hear that all the time.  19 and pregnant - way to go MOM.  Great values you are teaching your daughter.

So this justifies them in charging $290 to a 19 year old newlywed with a baby on the way.

- Umm your son in law parked in a Handicaped space.  So don't expect any sympathy for the situation he got himself into.  He is an adult and is supposed to know right from wrong.  Not right from..well...if I feel like it.

You talk about justification.  So does what he did justify the possibility of a physically challenged person who really needs that space to have to park farther away?  Oh and I hardly doubt that your son is hurting financially..after all he has a vehicle with 26 inch rims.  Perhaps if he is really hurting he could sell them and use the money toward his new family.  As for them telling your daughter to stand outside.  Well if she did come in with an attitude, sorry but pregnancy is not an excuse.  But then again..why did she need to go anyways..after all the car was towed from in front of their apartment?  This also brings up a question of how did your son and her get there?  Did they walk?  Did they get a ride?  If they walked how come the 108 degree weather didn't bug her then?  If they got a ride, why didn't the person wait for them?

Now, with all of this said.  IF you can prove that they broke any laws in doing this you may have a case.  But since you admit he was in a Handicapped space the only thing you probably have left is to see if the cost they are charging is too much.  But to give you some perspective.  If you park in a Handicapped space in CA the fines START at $250 regardless of if you are on private or public property, and that does not include the tow cost..which could be a few hundred dollars.
