Mr. Ed Sides was contracted to make home renovations to my home in Austin. Texas in October 2013, and, as of February 2014, he has failed to meet contractual obligations. As of this report, he will not return any correspondence that I have attempted in order to remedy the situation.

He owes me a significant amount of money! He has been partially paid for his work, and he has stolen over $10,000 from me. This is in the form of work that he has not completed - or has not even begun. He appeared to be trustworthy initially; So,  when he aksed for funds for materials and a labor draw, I paid him.

Hence, he has been paid for work has not been completed or has not even been started. I have several voicemail messages left by him acknowledging that he owes me this money, but he will not pay the money to me, and now he will not call me back or respond to my communication attempts to him. he cites "bad times" and that he "cannot catch a break" I have since learned that there are other households in the same situation as I am now- for whom he contracted and told them the same excuses regarding a  "sick relative," "I've been ill," "I lost my carpenter....electrician...plumber...."

I do NOT Want this manipulator to affect the lives of anyone else!!!!!! He has left the home in complete disrepair and has acknowledged this lack of completion, but he has made no attempt at reconciling the difference,e ither in work or return of any funds. He is a complete con artist, and has ripped me off of thousands of dollars.

Response regarding Ed Sides, Oasis Construction, Deceptive Business Practices

AUTHOR: Bryngerta - ()

This is in response to Sean; I am glad that you wrote so that I could better inform you.

Ed Sides, dba: Oasis Construction and Oasis Design Services and several other fictitious names has stolen thousands from, not only me, but others as well.  I am one of many. He has not paid workers thousands of dollars in work that was performed by them. These workers have families to support and would appear to work every day. In total, he owes a group of sub-contractors in Austin over twelve thousand dollars.

Regarding my renovation, I tried multiple times to contact him in hopes of reconciliation. He avoided me - disconnected his phone at one point for nearly a week - and he failed to return my many calls, texts, and emails. I was involved in a conference call with Mr. Ed Sides and a third party in an attempt to clarify the work schedule and to have the work finished, and he continued to manipulate and deceive.

Unfortunately, in talking with others and in reading about him in various reports from the last 30 years, it appears that this type of malicious and criminal behavior is typical for Mr. Sides. I believe that this is his history

Thank you for the opportunity to educate you regarding the mal intent of this man. My hope is that he is stopped before any others are adversely affected.

Sean is a No-Show; Oasis NOT to be Trusted

AUTHOR: jdhudson3 - ()

Sean has been asked by two victims of Oasis to defend his post that Ed is a "very honorable man", but has not responded. This clearly shows that Sean is either a friend of Ed's or Ed himself. As a result, Sean's claim that Ed is honorable goes unfounded. Ed owes me a lot of money and left me and my family in a very bad place because we trusted him.

Response to Sean

AUTHOR: Bryngerta - ()

Dear Sean, After reading your words to me on this site, I wanted to respond so that you might become better informed. Hopefully, this way, you will realize that there are people truly suffering for what this man has done. It sounds as though you have worked for, or with, Ed Sides and Oasis Construction/Design Services on several projects, per your post.

If you have and have been paid, I am very glad for you.

You are one of the fortunate ones, as he has left several homeowners without project completion, and he has left, in his wake, several sub-contractors without payment for weeks' and months' worth of work. To inform you and remove all doubt and ignorance on your part, in addition, I should let you know that I do have verbal acknowledgement from Ed himself regarding monies owed to me. He is fully aware of this THEFT.

The cancelled checks demonstrating payment to him, the printed work orders for work never inititated, the invoices for work never started with payment dates clearly marked on them by Ed Sides himself, the photos of the incomplete work, and the very sad stories from the subcontractors themselves are all very telling.

This is a hard business, and Sean, I am truly grateful that you were not part of this web, but I have met several people who were less fortunate, and the courts will be sorting all of this out shortly. Thank you for posting - for if you had not, then I would not be able to further eduate you to prevent further ignorance regarding his wrongdoings.

Thank you.

No He Is Not!

AUTHOR: jim_austin - ()

To the author (Sean) of the above rebuttal of this complaint review,

I would very much like to sit down with you and share with you how Oasis stole thousands of dollars from me and almost nearly ruined our lives. The fact that you are refuting this complaint review tells me that you are either a friend of Ed's, or Ed himself. However, if you are neither, once you are done hearing my story about how he deceived us and preyed upon our trustworthiness and naiveté, then you will surely change your tune.

More importantly, he failed to pay several of his low income workers despite receiving funds to pay them from me. He has displaced so many people, and has shown no remorse whatsoever. The only solace my wife and I have is that we were not the only victims of Oasis(i.e. the author of this complaint review). As the complaint review mentions, he has done this several times and will, no doubt, continue.

Please be sure you are 100% confident of your vindication of this swindler, because if you aren't, then you will have to share the guilt when he continues to deceive and steal from the innocent citizens of Austin.

Very Honorable Business Man

AUTHOR: Sean - ()

I wanted to respond to the previous VERY negative and untrutuful comment.  I have worked with Ed and Oasis Construction on several projects over the past few years.  I have lived in Austin since 1999 and as a long time resident.  I know my wy around the city's contractors.  Ed does what he says he is going to do and does it with skill and honesty I have not found elsewhere from a contractor.  If you are forward with Ed about a problem and he understands what you expect....he works to resolve that problem in an honest way.  Maybe you were not clear with your expectations but to say that Ed was ripping you off is flat untrue.  Oasis Construction is a good company and Ed Sides is a good man.
