I used elace.com to have some writing done. I just do not have enough time in my life. Most of the providers did good work. One provider did not finish her project and just disappeared. After a two months of trying to contact her I asked elace.com for a refund which I had prepaid for the project. I was told to down load a 4 page word document and fill it out and upload it. As I looked at the document I realized that the reason elace.com did not have a web form was elace.com was trying to complicate the refund procedure so they could keep my money. It was just not worth my time to get a refund. They were keeping my money. I will never use elace.com again! I hate cheaters!

Received a call from Elance Management

One day after posting my report I received a call from Elance management. I was assured they were going to try and get my money release and process my refund. They also stated they were working on a better system. I can see that management has the best intentions but a system was not in place to make this happen.

Elance Escrow Process
AUTHOR: Jon - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, March 26, 2008
Elance offers an escrow service that allows our customers to engage safely with each other in business transactions. If there is a dispute over the work performed, there is a clear process by which to recover the funds held in escrow. However, both parties must consent to the release of those funds. If there is a disagreement regarding the release, there is a well-defined path to resolution that includes mediation and failing that, third-party arbitration.
In no circumstance does Elance profit from unclaimed funds as they are ultimately turned over to the courts of California.
