Elephant Structures Bait and switch, poor customer service Boone North Carolina

I am writing this report to warn prospective buyers of a metal building to steer clear of a company known as Elephant Structures.  They are a representative company that sells Cardinal Buildings based out of Mt. Airy, NC.  I was looking at buildings from three different companies and after discussing what I wanted with a rep from Elephant Structures I chose to buy a Cardinal Building.

The rep's name was Jayme.  He emailed me a quote after we discussed in detail what I wanted in my building.  I chose to have an entry door, a 6'x6' roll up door, entry door in front of building and two windows on side of building.  Due to being in a wind zone 3 the building needed to meet the code for that zone.  I discussed this with Jayme and this was to be included in the price of the building.  Below is the part of the quote that listed what Jayme and I discussed.

One week after ordering the building I called Jayme to discuss some issues about the building and was told he was not at work that day.  I repeatedly called and left messages and sent emails but he never responded.  I finally asked to speak with a supervisor and was put in touch with someone named Andy.  I told him I did not want to deal with Jayme any longer and he handled the issues I had originally called Jayme about.

The quote was sent to Cardinal Buildings by Elephant Structures and an install date was agreed upon.  My building location is at my place at the beach 2 1/2 hours from my home.  I scheduled myself to be there for the install date and was called by Cardinal Building's scheduling department three days prior to install date and it was postponed two days.  They rescheduled for another date and the install was postponed a second time.

The installers showed up late on that Friday install date.  They began unloading and I noticed something didn't look right with the materials on the truck.  I then noticed I did not see any doors on the truck.  The installer was clueless about what I ordered so I had him call his boss.  Sure enough they had not loaded the doors.  His boss said they had forgot the entry door but there was no roll up door purchased.  I told him according to the quote I had purchased a roll up door.  He told me to call Elephant Structures which I did.

I spoke with Andy and he looked at the quote and told me I did not order a door.  I told him the quote included the door.  (See above).  To my amazement the FO on the quote stood for Frame Out but no door.  I asked him who would frame out a door opening in a building and not put a door in it.  Now I am told that the door will be an additional $450 above the original agreed upon price.  He would not consider absorbing that cost since it was his companies mistake.  I made my decision on purchasing the building based on the original quote.

Long story short I would NOT recommend anyone purchasing a Cardinal Building through Elephant Structures in Boone, NC unless you like dealing with a lot of headaches.  If you do order a Cardinal Building, do yourself a favor and make sure they have what you ordered on the truck before leaving the plant.
