Ellis HomeSource took the tenant's security deposits held in trust by Ellis Homesource and deducted from the tenants security deposits management fees/commissions allegedly due by owners of leased propery.  John Richard Ellis, a licensed Realtor/Broker in the state of Texas, aka as Rick Ellis, sent our tenant a letter stating that the tenant's entire security deposits were surrendered to us, the owners of the property Mr. Ellis was supposed to manage, and send us a check missing over 1,000.00 of tenants security deposits.  We had terminated our contract with MR. Ellis when he used tenants security deposits for his companies personal gain.

Recently seeing this comment about my single family property management company has prompted my very tardy response.

This former client and her husband contracted for our company to manage their home in Tarrant County.  After placing excellent renters in the home who took great care of the home and the outside landscaping, the Smiths decided to cancel their contract.  We agreeed that this business relationship was not a good match.  My company made the mistake of using the resident's deposit to reimburse money owed to us by the Smiths.  When we were notified by the TexasReal Estate Commission of this error, we immediately returned the money to the Smiths who at that point retained control of the tenants security deposit.

We did an excellent job leasing and managing the home but it seemed these owners had a different perspective.  The customer is always right so we have parted company since this incident.  Note that the other 200 plus property owner/customers for whom we provide services are happy and believe we add value monthly to their real estate investments.
