I had a move come up on very short notice, after calling around I thought I found a good company and a good price. I was quoted 2 to 3 hours and 2 guys and everything was agreed on.
Come moving day the time got pushed back, whatever. Pushed back again, getting nervous. They finally arrive and what do I get? 3 guys. By now it's too late in the evening to call someone else and I've got to be out of there that night so no way to set something new up. Reluctantly I agree and figure it will at least help it get done in a reasonable time. Holy hell that did not happen.
The first 15 minutes of so was looking great, 1 guy busting his a*s and the other 2 guys working decent. Pretty quick the 3rd guy basically stops. He's spending nearly all of his time in the back of the truck slightly rearranging things, the second guy slows down and is constantly bitching about guy number 3. Only the first guy keeps working non-stop. I've been helping the whole time because I just want this done and without going horribly over budget and pretty soon I've moved more of my stuff than one of the guys I'm paying and probably as much as another.
This drags on until it's finally packed up. We're running getting near 3 hours thanks to useless labor but the new place is near and it's 1st floor so it should be a quick unload and under the wire.
Well, maybe if they did not decide to do 20mph under the speed limit the whole way there (35 in a 55 zone). They also manage to lose my car and I get a bitchy call about how I need to slow down so I had to pull over and wait for them to catch up.
We get to the new place and it's over the mark so I gotta pull cash out the ATM next door while my stuff is being held hostage. They volunteer to start unloading while I do that so that I can get unpacked right away and I stupidly take it. When I get back things are being tossed from the front of the truck to the back in an effort to get it out with minimal work despite the fact that we just rolled to the 3rd hour and have plenty of time before I gotta worry about paying another.
Also the rate on the website or the phone? That's now what you're gonna pay. There's a nice big extra hourly fee that they tried to explain away as tax but that would only make sense if the Texas sales tax was just under 20%.
In the end this cost me about $120.00 more than what was quoted over the phone. And the results? Couch damaged, dining set damaged, TV stand damaged, bed damaged, dressers damaged, bookcases damaged, picture frames damaged. All sort of lesser stuff minor dings as well. Basically anything wood is scratched to hell and dinged up. All I know is it's a good thing I already packed my electronics and glass stuff in my car earlier in the day.
Here I am weeks later, still pissed and out the money. If you try and complain you will never even get called back to discuss it. I wish I did not pay in cash but now I know why I had to. If I could have put it on a card I would have called mastercard and had the payment reversed.
Do not hire this company.
You'll end up paying way more than a mover that looks higher cost just in out of pocket cash not to mention all the damage your belongings will take. It's just not worth it.
