I am writing this because I can't believe that Employment-1 agencies in Maine are still able to operate as a legit business. I worked for the company back in 2008. They advertised excellent jobs with pay over 12/hr. When you called you spoke with a someone and for $180 they would help you get this job. BIG SCAM! First you call and speak to someone in the Bangor office named "Deborah" (however the client didn't know this they though they were talking to someone in Portland), they are very sympathetic to you situation and want to get you in right away so they can get you working very soon. The client is told that the listings were unique and listed exclusively at Employment-1. So the client makes the appointment and you go to the local Portland office to meet with "Deborah" the person to whom you explained your situation to that had much empathy for you.

However, "Deborah" had leave on a emergency and you meet with someone else. However, "Deborah" was never going to meet with because she works out of an office 2 hours away. You pay the $180 and get access to a computer database of jobs. As an employee I was to find jobs to put in the database. First part of the scam is that the jobs that are listed in the paper are already filled or fake. They are too good to be true and are just printed to get people pay money they don't have. Next they say that the jobs are unique. We would look through Southernmainehelpwanted.com, jobsinme.com, and the newspaper for the jobs. So people were paying $180 for jobs that could find for free. Such a scam! They would not list any job for over 10/hr however would not pay their employess over 9/hr.
