I have rented many cars from Enterprise Rent A Car over the past 10 years.  However, on a trip to Denver my wife and daughter checked a car out and the preson checking out the car did a cursory inspection and they left with the car.  Upon return the person checking in the car began an inspection process that was extreme to everyone who watched him.  After looking at the trunk lid for nearly ten minutes he wrote that there was damage to the trunk lid and it was my wife's fault.  The problem was there was no damage, my wife refused to sign the receipt with the notation and was smart enough to note that she disagreed with the claim.  My daughter also took pictures with her phone.  We then received a "Notice Of Claim" letter in the mail asking us for our insurance information and no statement of the amount of the claim or the basis of the claim.

I believe this is a scam by Enterprise.  They see perceived vulnerable parties such as a woman and teenage girl traveling alone and they make up a damage claim which is clearly without a basis in fact thinking they will give in to the bully checking in the car.  Then they use the claim procedure to increase their profit similar to the baggage charge for traveling on certain airlines.

Travelers beware of Enterprise Rent A Car pay the extra ten bucks to a reputable company and avoid the claim procedure with Enterprise.  I will be caesing all rental activity with this company and suggest everyone look eslewhere for their rental car needs.
