I began renting a car while in the middle of a divorce.  I was more capable of paying for it than my now ex-wife, and we had one car between us, so she was able to use it.  Payments were always made, with only one issue at a time where the bank halted a payment thinking it could be a fraud issue.  Once I spoke with the bank, payment cleared, and we were good.

However, at one point some debris was hit in the road and the tire became damaged.  I put the spare tire on it and asked what I should do.  I was told I needed to come in and redo my contract but needed to get the tire fixed first.  Alright, fine, I have my priorities directly from an employee.  I keep hearing that we need to get the contract redone but the repair place I was told to go to had difficult availabilities to match my work schedule.  I informed one of the employees of this and they said that was fine, and thanked me for keeping them informed.

I went for a run one morning around 8AM and came home around 9:00.  There was a card in my door with an Enterprise associates name on it, a woman I hadn't really talked to.  I had taken the day off specifically to get the car taken care of and EVEN TOLD THEM THATS WHAT I WAS DOING.  The appointment was at noon.  I went to shower, make breakfast, and realized I got a voice mail stating I had to come in and get this done by close of business, or they'd have to tow the car.  This was approximately 10:30.  My appointment was in an hour, so I got ready to just go down and see if I could sign the paperwork before the tire was repaired, which was the exact opposite of what I was told I could do, but they were adamant about it.  At 11AM I went down to find my car was missing and had already been towed.  I checked my phone to ensure the message wasn't from yesterday.  Call was from that morning.  I called to ask and was told because I didn't "let her know" she decided to call the tow immediately after I received the call.  So the original statement of "close of business" became null and void within MINUTES of the phone call, on the day I was going to get the tired fixed before bringing it in, doing EXACTLY what I was told to do.  No amount of getting upset mattered, I was told she just made the decision to go ahead and do it even if I had paid every bill and they knew I was getting it fixed.  They "could no longer do business with me".

On top of this, I was told I needed to immediately drop off the keys and get my possessions.  Fair enough.  I went in that day and dropped off the keys, expecting to pull any and all belongings out of the car (approx 2-3k in value worth) from it.  I was told that the car was not there and was getting fixed.  Understandable.  They didn't, however, know when it would be available.  I hitched a ride to work with a friend at that point until it got handled.  I was furious but I figured there would be no fighting it.  A few days later I received a phone call that went right to voicemail while at work around 3:30-4PM.  I was informed I had to come get my stuff by close of business at 6:00 they would be throwing everything away.  We didn't even leave work until 5:30, and I work in a building with bad signal, so I didn't get the message until about 5:45, and we were still almost 45 minutes away with traffic.  Attempted to call and got no answer.

At this point we stopped by the enterprise just to see if someone would be there to assist, and there wasn't.  It opens rather early so we were going to go in the morning, but when I called to ensure we could pick up my belongings, I was informed they were thrown out.  This includes full suits and clothing, electronics, important paperwork for my job, and numerous other belongings.  I was given nothing but cold responses and basically told I was given "warning and time to get my belongings".  3 hours is NOT a reasonable amount of time!  Especially on a work day!

To top it off, she then asked when I could come in and pay THEM for the final amount owed on the car, as I immediately told my bank to stop all transactions from Enterprise when it was towed.

So I was told to do something, took of work to finally get it done, let them know what the plan was, got warned I had to get it done by close of business only to have the car taken at 11AM when a tow was called in immediately afterwards, was given no warning of when it'd be available for me to pick up my belongings, and now they want money from me after throwing everything away with only a few hours notice while I was at work.

Oh, and they claim I owe for damages done to the car as well.  Things that weren't issues with the car while I still had it.  Because that's top notch customer service.
