I bought tickets from TicketWeb. I remember seeing a rewards offer, but certainly did not sign up for one. But here I am , finding a $9.00 charge on my bank account for Entertainment Rewards. Coupon Book??? Online Coupons?? Who knows!

The website is a blank page. The phone line is not being answered. However, I used the phone number listed on my bank statement and they did answer! Here it is: 877-793-6866. The man on the other end of the phone said I could surely cancel, however since this is a service I had agreed to, there would be no refund.

I remained calm. Asked him what kind of scam this was. Where was the website? Where were my signup emails??? I told him (again, calmly) that if my charges were not reversed I would press charges. He said that it would take two billing cycles, but my $9.00 would be credited back to me. Now, do I believe that? No, not really!

I did receive an email stating my membership had been canceled, but no confirmation that they were going to credit me back. Then he told me I couldn't sign up again. AS IF!!! The sad part is I was half questioning whether or not I did sign up for this. I know I didn't, I never do this kind of stuff. But this was posted on TicketWeb (operated by ticketmaster) Shouldn't I trust them?

Anyway, I am wondering whether or not to close my bank account. Who knows what other charges will come my way from this operation. Glad I found this site. Just as the others had described it. Two months had gone by before I saw the charges. Would have been longer if I did not have internet banking.

Benjamin's Rebuttal

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 20, 2005

Benjamin's rebuttal is highly misleading, I think and it gives simple but bad advice for dealing with this company.

For one thing, I assume he gave his rebuttal as a company employee in error since he writes like another scammed consumer.

He says people just need to contact the write person and get it taken care of and that the Rip Off reports have been inflammatory.

In practice, though, calling Entertainment Rewards isn't hard, but getting through to a live human is. I waited for more than an hour on hold. I have seen others claim 2 and a half hour waits. So these guys aren't easy to contact by phone. You could use their Web site but I was wary of doing that as emails can be ignored easily and because I'd hate for any use of their Web site to be used as proof of the validity of the charges.

Repeated unauthorized charges to a credit card, of any amount, is a big deal. A company that does that is, by definition, not to be considered reputable, in less they can prove that you're the one mistaken and that the charges were actually authorized.

Also, when you do speak to one of their reps, their line is that their company did nothing wrong and that you're the one in error. Calling them IS contacting the right person, but they're combative about the call, according to my experience and the experiences of others who have written about them on this site.

In order to get my full money back, I had to complain both to them and to my credit card company, so it was a two step process.

Given my experience and the experiences of others here, I would call these guys "easy to deal with," and they are certainly not properly apologetic, given the cirumstances. The key with them is to be peristant and to not be afraid to stand on principle.

Read the fine print and contact the right person.

I too saw the charge on my account information after a Ticketmaster purchase. After googleing the company name I saw this report and freaked.

I have used Entertainment books in the past as have friends of mine and considered this a reputable company so I was shocked and upset.

What I did was go to the website and emailed them.

I immediately got a phone call and email.

I was given an explanation, and apology and a refund as well as an invitation to use the service in the future.

Rip-off report caused more of an upset than the incident with Ent. Rewards and consider this particular forum over alarming and written by someone who perhaps hasn't the resources to resolve issues.

My advice from this experience is to avoid this in the first place by reading all terms for "anything" offered on any website that I didn't initiate and to know how to contact the right people should this occur in the future.
