I had purchased concert tickets online through I saw the Entertainment Rewards offer, but didn't want it, because it was a deal where it was free for 30 days and then you had to cancel. So I made sure that the box was not checked and went on with my order.

I never thought any more about it. I got my ticket confirmation in my email. I went to the concert. All was fine.

I get my bank statement and notice a $7.00 charge that says Entertainment. I didn't think much of it, because I was receiving the magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and figured it was just part of that payment.

It was the next month with the same $7.00 charge was there again.

This time I called the phone number that was listed on the statement. It said it was Entertainment Rewards.
I asked why I was being charged $7.00 a month. I was told that I signed up for email some coupon and discount program/service.

When I explained that I did not sign up for anything, and that I, in fact, remembered specifically not signing up for it. I was told "Well it's not our fault that some people are too stupid to read." I had been perfectly polite and patient, and the lady had the nerve to call me stupid.


I tell them I want my money back.

They say it is against their company policy to give refunds, but that they can cancel the service.

I tried to explain that I never signed up, and they didn't care. I then told them they would be reported to the BBB and they would be hearing from my banks fraud department (which they did - my bank got my money back). They said that again it's not their fault I was too stupid to read.

This company has some problems. I was told that they send you emails telling you when your 30 day free trial is up, and when I said that I never received a single email from them I was told that they aren't required to send an email. They negated their own comment, and they say I'm stupid?

I will no longer buy tickets from ticketmaster as they support this Rip-Off of a company.

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!


Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.


If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

There was a response to my report that said that there is no way that any of Entertainment Rewards employees would actually call me stupid. Well, I hate to tell you that they did, but it's true. I was told, "It's not our fault that some people are too stupid to read." I really had been quite polite with them, because believe it or not I was always told that you win more battles that way. I am not one to fly off the handle, and start something, so I really was very even tempered with the lady I spoke with. She, however, was quite rude.
It is all beside the point, I got my money back, so I'm not stressing about it. What gets me is that this company has ripped off many people, and I'm sure several don't even notice. If there are this many that unknowingly sign-up there is something that is obviously flawed with their system. They need to make a change, not us.
It is funny how one will say you have to check a box to sign up and the next will say there is no box to check. One will say they send you emails and the next will say they are not required to. They sure do double talk an awful lot.

Because they are owned by the same scammer, er corporation. They are both owned by IAC who also own HOme shopping network,, lending tree, usa network etc. See richmond, va response.

Employee rebuttal UNTRUE ***THIS IS A SCAM**** Why would give my personal information to a 3rd party to rip me off is the question.

The same thing happend to me. However, being a web master and computer programmer I have additional tools and knowledge this company is not aware of. First of all, I have a DSL modem log showing all internet activity. I see where I purchased my tickets from and there was no internet activity after I purchased my tickets. For ANYONE to say I accidently clicked their button or link after my purchase is an outright lie. I can prove it in a court of law. They say they sent me emails. I do not have any SPAM filters whatsoever. I know for a fact they never sent me anything but will claim they did, but I never got it. They didn't send anything, I can prove this as I have not deleted any emails since the date of my ticket purchase. Entertainment Rewards made me sit on hold for 2 hours and 17 minutes to cancel this service that I never ordered.


Why would give my personal information to a 3rd party to rip me off is the question.

I doubt someone called you stupid

As an employee for Entertainment, I can pretty much assure you that you were never called stupid. They monitor all of our calls closely, and trust me someone would have been either fired or you would have been placed on hold while and employee got thier head chewed off.

Secondly, there was not box to check or uncheck.. you either clicked on the continue button and placed your email address in twice and clicked yes.

As for the e-mails.. if you have a spam blocker on or they go to your junk mail.. we have no way of knowing this when you sign on to the free trial. Legally we are required as is any e-commerce business to notify you, that you have authorized the transaction which just took place. I bet you got the cancellation letter in your e-mail tho? If you recieved one then it would indicate you received the rest as well. Why would only one make it through?

As for us refunding the charges, no your bank or credit card company refunded you. See they call us, we explain what you did and how.. they know the laws for e-commerce and they then decide if they want to be nice to you or not. Has nothing to do with us.

I'm not saying that the geneaal public is stupid but what I am saying is people refuse to read things they sign up for, they see whatever they chose to and click away not understanding what thier random mouse clicking may have gotten them in to.

Even the most computer sauve person, can overlook something in a rush. All of us have done it.

And trust me if the agent did manage to give you an attitude, I can pretty much guarentee you were not the nice sweet person you claimed you were. Most of the people on Rewards have the patients of saints especially when thier lives and thier families have been threatened in addition to the countless amount of cuss words we have been called by so called nice people.
