The arrest is connected to a theft of inventory and property from Mann’s prior employer where he worked as a System Administrator.  It is alleged he used his system administrator security access to access secure areas of his employer’s facilities off hours and steal equipment which he later sold.

As of the time of this report, Manns purports to be a Network Engineer for Northrup Grumman Corporation since June 2014 working onsite at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a contractor (www.linkedin.com/pub/eric-manns-ccna/52/b1b/a6).  Mann’s LinkedIn profile also states that he has been issued Interim Security Clearance by the U.S. Department of Treasury.  If this is true, Manns, arrested for felony theft and deception, was in a position of having access to sensitive tax payer information, including social security numbers, home addresses, and employment records.  A felon in possession of everything required for massive identity theft is a major risk to U.S. citizens and tax payers.
