Erietreats agents as employees. They contract agentsas an independent contractor butviolate IRS rulesby controlling andmaking production demands.The Charlotteoffice, under the direction ofTeresa Youngusesunethical methods to terminate contracts creatingharmto the agent and the customersheserves.
Teresa Young, an agressivewoman with apitbull 'know it all'attitude, is personallyknown to meddle in agent affairs.Sheis alsoknown tomake personal attacks againstan agent if she determinesthat 'she' doesn't like the agent or'agency'. Teresa thinks nothing of generating false reports andbelieves agents are working for her. It's unfortunate, but she can not be trusted.
Teresause the corporatebuddy system to filter down confidential information about clients.(violation of privacy laws) andputs her nose where it doesn't belong. In fairness, there are always nice people that work anywhere, but I wouldcertainly AVOID contracting withERIE to handle any of your business especially if your agency is under the thumb of Teresa Young andthe Charlotte Branch Office in NC.
If you're a potential agent, RUN. If you're a customer, talk to your agent and take his advice.

I am a former employee of Teresa Young & the Charlotte Branch with full knowledge of the ex agent who wrote this complaint. Teresa is an honest, loyal, responsible, intelligent, ethical Branch Manager who gives agents every opportunity to improve their results before any steps are taken to terminate their contract.
There are over 90 agents in the Charlotte branch & while I can't speak for themI don't believe you could find one that would agree with the opinions of this disgruntled ex agent.Teresa has been with Erie for over 10 years and has risen from a District Sales Manager to the Manager of the Charlotte Branch. If the Charlotte agents are successful, then the branch is successful. Teresa works veryhard to develop productive relationships withCharlotte agents and their staff members. The Charlotte Branch staff and theCharlotte Agents work together as aclose knit team each offering support to the other.
If you are reading this and you are a potential agent, please call any Western NC Erie agent & ask their honest opinion of Teresa. If you are a customer of a Western NC agent please feel free to discuss Teresa with your agent.
Teresa goes out of her way to help agents in any way she can. She is not "an agressive woman with a pitbull know it all attitude" as described in the original complaint.I would encourage anyone reading this to please talk with an agent or with Teresa directly and form your own opinion of Teresa Young and Erie Insurance.
