Esurance went beyond bait-switch tactics to out-right theft. First, they cancelled due to non-payment, although they were the ones who failed to debit my bank account. When I called them on it, the first question was "do you want to continue with Esurance" to which I replied "let me think about it for a couple of days" (policy was still good for about 4 days). Two days later, I informed them that I was switching to Geico, and would no longer use their services. Two days after that, they reactivated my account, charging my bank account over $300 and causing over $150 in late fees. My bank reversed the debit and credited the account for the overdrafts, but the late fees are still my cost and Esurance continued trying to debit my account. The total they have cost in late fees is over $400.

BTW - Type Esurance into Outlook and do a spell check -- one of the recommended words is "esuriance" which means "the state of being esuriant." Esurient means greedy.

Esurance - did all that

AUTHOR: Randy - (U.S.A.)

I have done all those things, including providing a run-down of payments showing that I had payed in full until the end of my term, a month after they cancelled my policy. They have this sort of "escrot" deal - evidently half of the first double-payment goes into it and it can't be touched for some unexplained reason. They end up charging you 14 monthe worth of payments for a 12 month policy

Here's what you can do:

Have your Geico policy information ready and call esurance. Tell the representative the effective date of your geico policy, ask for their fax number and send them the dec page or insurance card from geico. They must waive any charges accrued after the effective date of your new policy.

In many states they are not allowed to cancel you until 10 days after a non-payment notice, or until they receive proof of new insurance.

You may owe for any charges BEFORE the inception of the Geico policy, but anything afterwards must be waived.
