My girlfriend & I just completed, what we thought, was going to be a nice 5 day / 4 night vacation at a Lake Tahoe resort. What a surprise we got once we arrived.

Here’s my story which, if not compensated, will be posted on every available web site.

On 3/24/13 I received a ‘Your Choice Getaway, Platinum Vacation of a Lifetime’ from a local car dealership. I chose a 3 day / 2 night getaway to Lake Tahoe & chose to purchase 2 extra nights at a charge of 99.00 per night + tax thinking it would be a nice resort. What a mistake....and disappointment.

I sent in my 50.00 refundable deposit. Then I booked my reservation through ETTSI and received a payment request for 271.48 (12.12 tax per night + 99.00 each addl night + 25.00 processing fee). After getting my date request confirmed I booked my non-refundable airfare. I was then told we would get our check-in documents about 2 weeks prior to departure. I kept checking & got no check-in documents until the last day ETTSI was open before we departed. I finally got the check-in documents on 7/3 (ETTSI was closed from 7/4 thru 7/7) & we were leaving the morning of 7/8. I opened the attached document & was shocked to see the ‘Days Inn’. It was too late to complain so we took the trip.

Once arrived at the Days Inn we were told we got booked into a small queen bed room that sold for 59.00 + 8.90 tax for a 4 day total of 271.60. After asking for a king I wound up paying an addl 44.00. What happened to the resort & 2 nights free? My girlfriend & I were shocked. The pool was a small hole in the ground with water. The Jacuzzi fit about 3-4 adults. The room had a shower where my girlfriend could barely turn around (she’s not a big lady). The shower was for someone no taller than 5’9”. I had to squat down just to take a shower. Then on top of all that we found not 1, not 2, but 3 spiders crawling around the room during the 4 days. One spider was even crawling in the bed.

Despite being totally ripped off we did enjoy our time at Lake Tahoe.

Right now I’ve found enough web complaints about ETTSI that I could start a book. If something is not done I promise I will do everything in my power to cause as many problems for ETTSI as I can.

What does ETTSI have to say for themselves?

I will anxiously await your reply....

Are you kidding me? Discounted Rates, I don't think so

AUTHOR: Bob W - ()

POSTED: Thursday, August 22, 2013

The post from ETTSI stated discounted rates, not free....if that were the TRUE case than why did I pay more with ETTSI than I would have booking with the hotel direct?

Also, if ETTSI is so good then why does the Better Business Bureau rate them a C- with NO accreditation? Also as noted on the BBB website - there have been 240 closed complaints within the last 3 years & 37 already in 2013.

Now you tell me....why would you ever do business with a company that has such poor ratings & so many complaints?

There are many more 'complaint' type websites with all kinds of complaints posted against ETTSI.

Executive Tour and Travel

AUTHOR: ETTSI - ()

POSTED: Thursday, August 22, 2013

Executive Tour and Travel Services, Inc. - ETTSI - is a licensed and bonded seller of travel located in Daytona Beach, Florida.  ETTSI has been in business for over 22 years. ETTSI generates its travel business through the sale of travel certificates.  These certificates provide discount travel services to the end used with a portion of the travel cost being paid by the sponsor (purchaser) of the travel certificate. None of the certificate programs they offer are "FREE Vacations" but consumers sometimes think the vacations are free either because they wish to believe this or because they have been erroneously told this by a 3rd party.

Like any discount program, these certificates have restrictions and fees associated with them.  By law all restrictions and fees are openly disclosed on the certificate. The accommodations the complainant requested were not available pursuant to the terms and conditions of the certificate offer. When the end user of a certificate wants to arrange travel services that are not covered by the certificate, ETTSI offers to sell them the travel services outside of the travel program at their prevailing rates which may or may not be competitive with internet rates or direct rates.  The end user always has the right to purchase these services elsewhere. Had the traveler informed ETTSI that were interested in upgrading to a larger bed or a suite, they would have quoted that to them but it is very hard to anticipate a travelers needs unless they express them.

Insect control is the responsibility of the hotel. ETTSI would have had no way of knowing if there were spiders in the room prior to booking. This is something that should have been reported immediately to the hotel management.

As Rip off Report states, “Every Business has Complaints”.  The more customers you have the greater chance that things can go wrong. ETTSI sells close to a million certificates a year and travels thousands of people every year and they have their share of complaints.  Given the opportunity, ETTSI has an excellent reputation for satisfactorily resolving these complaints. Anonymously posting complaints on an intent web site does not give them the opportunity to resolve anything.
