We booked a hotel online with Expedia.com. When we got to the hotel and spoke with the manager we found out that we could have booked the same room for 30% less if we had of called the hotel our self and booked the room. We were very upset and will never use Expedia again. This is a service that claims to save you money and indeed they do not. It is just the opposite.

It is not just Expedia.  Quite often it can be cheaper(or at least the same cost) to call the hotel directly to see if they can give you any special rates.  This works for the actual hotel, if you call something like a main reservation line for a chain they will give you about the same rates you can find on-line.
