OK this is how it started. 2 weeks ago I registered as a member and received a call today from ERIC, Senior Casting Director. It started off pretty well, though his accent was heavy and sounded like he is situated oversees. OH YEAH, he sounded very young and very unprofessional. I kind of figured till now that this is one of the scam artist and stayed on the phone to hear the part when he is going to ask me for a payment.. He went on to know more about me and said that many directors are interested to cast me after seeing my pic. Since I dont have any professional photoshot of me, he said not to worry and not to spend my money on a proffessional shot, as he will hook me up with a photographer free of charge.

He mentioned that I will be working with movie industry big banners. He mentioned couple of roles in my city that were done deal for me. I just had to show up, do whatever, and get paid..GOSHHH IS IT MY LUCKY DAY OR WHAT...I have worked a lot in telemarketing and it was easy to tell that he is building this "trust" between us. He explined me how this whole thing works and mentioned that he is about to create my very own website. He stayed on the phone for like 30 min then I ended up asking him about the cost. He then laughed and explained me the membership fee for a 3 month, 6 month, or year option. When I made an excuse for not enrolling right now, he got a little upst and said rudely that he has waisted 1/2 an hour and hung up. He then wanted to get off the phone quickly. I cant belive he hung up on me. Any professional will not do such thing.

Their website sounds too good to be true, as well as these scam artists who are running the company. I make $60/hr, which is almost a 3 month enrollment fee. To me the issue is not money, issue is that I could have gotten ripped off by some scums who are building their empire by only lying.

Explore Talent is a proven SCAM! They STEAL castings from FREE sites like Mandy and Craigslist and charges money. They also steal from LEGIT sites like ActorsAccess.com

Respected Casting Director, Industry Expert, and Author, Bonnie Gillespie (http://more.showfax.com/columns/avoice/) has said how her castings that she ONLY posted on ACTORSACCESS.COM have mysteriously ended up on Explore Talent with the dates and some info changed around. GO AND EMAIL HER IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME!

Explore Talent also MISLEADS! They entice people with bogus links such as:

Some kid thinking he or she will get Disney Channel Auditions will end up at Explore Talent and not see any Disney Channel Auditions.

Explore Talent has been around for 5 years. In EVERY Acting Reference/Business Book written no earlier than 5 years and even in the books written or edited in 2008/2009, there is NO mention of Explore Talent!

Let's reference some of the Top Acting Business Books out there:

In Acting is Everything: Gold Edition by Judy Kerr, she mentions LA Casting, Actors Access, and NowCasting.

In How to Be a Working Actor:5th Edition by Mari Lyn Henry, Lynne Rogers, and Joe Mantegna, LA Casting, Actors Access, and NowCasting.

In Making it in Hollywood by Scott Sedita, LA Casting, Actors Access, and NowCasting.

Not What You Think

AUTHOR: Mrs_Holland - (United States of America)

I have been with explore talent for 18 months.  What they are is NOT a casting agency, and no one should have called you claiming to be a casting director.  I'm thinking this may have been a 2nd party company that got your contact info.

I have noticed in alot of the reports about exploretalent that people are upset that they don't "Hook them up with work"...explore talent is not a talent agency.  They have a database that casting directors use to help them find who they are looking for...the also gather info on casting calls in your area.  YES, this IS public info, but what they do it just make it more convinent for you to find it.  That's why they have a small 6 month membership fee, and NEVER have booking fees or other "finders fees".  Pretty much, they are a search engine for actors/models.

Now, they do have a "scammy" feel to them, they lead you to believe its easy to get work, when in reality it's not...if you know how to use their website you will get work, but this is NOT a site that you can just expect a few email and phone calls and you'll become a star.
