so I and 5 other coworkers are staying at the extended stay America in Springdale arkansas why is it that the manager the general manager has the Wi-Fi with zero security and he's allowing his guests to clean flooded rooms. He responded with the password being your last name and room # I've stayed in hundreds of motels and hotel and they always have 1 code for all. Then creepy part about it about 80% of the guest seem to know him and even go begin the counter direct associates I'm baffled

Baffled?

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 13, 2017

I'm actually baffled as to where the RipOff here is.

I've been in many Hotels from mid-range extended stay to High End 5-Star resorts as well as had the oppertunity to use other public WiFi. So if you think ANY public WiFi is "secure" you better stop what you are smoking because it is eating away at your brain cells.

Having your name and room number is actually quite common, and is actually a bit more secure than having some generic password. Why? Because instead of having some single password that after a few weeks any person just walking by could get a hold of. This ones shows that they have a slightly higher system that is tied into the reservation system that verifies only people actually registered are logging on.

I also wonder how you know that about 80% of the people know the manager. How exactly did you come to this conculsion? Did you do a room to room survey? Did you sit in the lobby all day counting the people that said hi to him?

I can't tell you about this specific location but many of these "extended stay" hotels are used by people as their primary residence. So if they are there for a few months, yes they may get to know the manager.
