Extreme Custom Home Remodeling - Don Benedict Don Benedict Walked out on a remodeling bath, bedroom job with $8000 of my money and worse than when he started Plano, Dallas Fort Worth, Internet

He, Don or Donny Benedict, has gone by RetroPlex Custom Home, Extreme Custom Home Remodeling, Xtreme Custom Home Remodeling, Custom Home Remodeling and I am sure there are others. He told me he lived in Plano, Tx but is also listed as in Sherman and other local Dallas Fort Worth cities.

They (he) lists on craigslist alot and use two phone numbers with identical ads. The person with the "25 years yada yada is called Cory, although the phone number is the number that is Don Benedict gave to me and is his cell. Guess his reputation by name is starting to proceed him and he needs to hide. 

If I had dug deeper and not trusted, or had someone tell me just how this company and this person conducts his business, I would have had the bathroom and bedroom that I had saved for years to have remodeled done and looking great. Instead I have this tale of caution. 

 Don (Donny) Benedict, walked out of a job and contract that he signed - with over $8000.00 of my money and a bathroom that is stripped (no shower, no toilet, no sink, no lighting) a bedroom with partial floors, tape sticking out all over the sheet rock, crown molding half done, and what is there is poor poor poor. I have a door to the bathroom sitting in my closet, and materials that I paid for - well I have no idea where they are, most likely used in some other job - guess it makes his cost of materials cheaper when he steals them from another customer. 

They removed all of the electrical outlets and switches, then sprayed texture and paint all over the wiring. While the WALLS were OFF of my rooms, the electrical wiring, I have aluminum, was to be changed to copper and the boxes changed from metal to plastic and brought to code. The wiring was next to impossible to take out, but rather than updating the boxes, outlets, and switches, and use alum to copper adapters, he replaced the sheet rock - and missed the outlets by inches, actually just covered over some outlets and otherwise left my electrical scary scary bad. Without the knowledge or money to fix it all, I am left with hoping I don't burn down. There are no Switches or outlets anywhere. He left them with wire wraps and boxes that are sitting loose in the walls. I will have to have the sheet rock cut out in order to have these repaired - sheet rock that I had paid to have replaced. 

Don (donny) Benedict has been listed as RetroPlex in the BBB bureau, with an ALERT for a status. His contract and business card with me is under Extreme ( Xtreme ) Custom Home Remodeling, although he now seems to be using Custom Home Remodeling. When I searched the BBB I did not dig deep enough and used the company information Don, Donny Benedict gave me. No telling what he will call himself and his "company" next week. He has no license and no company registration with the state of Texas, or the City of Dallas that I have been able to find. 

 I took what I thought were reasonable precautions prior to hiring this person and company, but I was taken for thousands. He changes what he calls his company regularly it seems making it hard unless you dig deep on him. 

I truly PRAY that no one else is taken by this person. Oh, he professes to be a Christian company - yeah right.

His response to me has been and I quote "r a man, r a woman?". The implication being that he took me and I should man up and not worry about it.

After all it's only my home and what little of my money I had left. Good Christian man that he is. He didn't like it when I yelled at him as my one week job was going into week 3, with weekends off and 4 days that he just did not show up, call, email, text or anything else. I had really done a serious inspection of the work on the 4th day he didn't show up (until 3:30 in the afternoon),. The day before he had told me he needed more money. 

When I told him he would not get another penny and to finish the d**n job and do it right, he turned, walked out and that was the last I have heard from him, other than his email: "r a man, r a woman?" to me.

Perhaps being a man in his book is to allow the theft and to suck it up. Screw that. 

I am disabled, with a leg amputated, congestive heart failure and copd. I have been unable to work since 2005, and will most likely never have the money again to make this right. 

I so wish I had checked his name on RipOffreport.com before I gave him any money and worse, my trust.  I am not the first, but am determined to get my money from - this - heck I best not use the name I really want to. 

I can document all of this, and will provide photos of his work - I can only hope I can get the electrical fixed before my place burns down - that is the kind of job this guy will do for you. 

If you should hire him anyway, keep a close watch on both your belongings and your home.

He brought his toddler child through my back gate and in through my bedroom window all the while having nail guns and saws being used. I thought I heard my grand daughter until I realized she was not home.

His parenting is right up there with his work. A lawsuit waiting to happen against some homeowner when his toddler is hurt on your property.
