Face To Face Technologies Two young men came to the door selling magazines and saying money would go towards charity of my choice. The ended up changing the date of my check and cashing it without having to endorse it. Kittredge Colorado

Two young men came to my door. Very clean cut and different magazine brochures in their hands. They told me if I ordered a magazine a portion of the money would go to a charity of my choice. Their were a list of 4 different charities. Some involved children, being a mother of 4 I was intriqued. They had a charity that went towards children's athletic programs. My kids are involved in different sports so I bought one from each of them.

I was told about the cancellation and I could postdate the check to if I can cancel if I need to. I then noticed the checks had cleared my account. They had changed the dates on my check. I did end up cancelling the very next day before I found out the checks went through. I brought it up to the bank and also went to my local police station.

Our town requires solicitors to register before going door to door. They did not register and when the dectives researched the phone number it had already been disconnected. They managed to cash checks from NW Indiana all the way to Colorado within a couple of day. They also got the checks cashed without endorsing them at UMB Bank in Colorado.

I feel really stupid about being scammed. I always do things for my kids and husband and never get anything for myself. The one time I do decided to get something for myself and give to charity at the same time this is what happens to me. I learned my lesson. My bank thankfully reversed everything but it still caused a lot of turmoil. I am still working with the police and trying to get this scam stopped. There will always be more scams but what little I can do to help others from being scammed I will try my best.
