Facebook Facebook Grossly Overcharging Advertisers for Ads Placed on Facebook Palo Alto, California

I hate those adds on Facebook, they suck.

Some of the rebuttals are blaming me, the victim of business criminal fraud, instead of demanding Facebook be investigated and heavily fined. Hello, people, you are just siding with some very dishonest, anti-social behavior.

Buglars steal $5 billion worth of goods from Americans eachyear but business criminals steal ten times as much from Americans-$50 billion. It is time to wake up and smell the coffee people and to demand everyone from your local District Attorney to the U.S. Justice Department prosecute these crimes.

In any event, Facebook now has at least 3 class actions suits against it for overcharging business advertisers. Just google "Facebook business ads overcharging class action suits" to find them.

I also wrote to the CEO of Facebook regarding mysituation. No response whatsoever!

Microsoft owns a 'whopping' 1.3% of facebook. But even if they fail...who cares? Facebook is supposed to be a social networking website.

If facebook is charging the poster for ads..then make a copy of the charges and use it for taxes. $250.00 or whatever the poster stated.

There does not seem to be any denying what the charges or for. The complaint seems to be the poster thought it was a one day test ad for 50..and it ended up being more days, and more charges per day. We would ALL need to see a posting of the agreement to determine the truth.

The poster states they kept billing 50 a day until the ad was canceled. If the poster canceled the ad properly, then any further charges are certainly complaint worthy.

Either way..the poster did not get a single phone call or email from the ad..which means the ad did not work..and whatever was being advertised did not interest a SINGLE user of facebook.  How many people use facebook? I believe 500 million active? So the ad was a fail. How many other complaints will we read about that someones ad was a fail? Ads don't always work.

No ads are guaranteed to generate revenue, phone calls or emails. Either advertise elsewhere that will work..or better yet, advertise a product someone is interested in. Then if you get calls and emails..you won't complain and blame facebook.

Really now, lets be honest...dig deep into your souls for this one. If the ad had generated phone calls and emails..would you be complaining here about it now?

NOT JUST COMMUNICATION DOWNWARD WITH NO WAY FOR USERS TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE BUSINESS ---TO COMPLAIN,ASK QUESTIONS, NEEDING HELP OR ONLINE SUPPORT.

FACEBOOK FAILS TO DO ANY OF THIS.

THE GUY THAT FOUNDED IT WAS JUST A COLLEGE KID. HE NEVER ANTICIPATED IT WOULD BECOME SO POPULAR AND I DON'T THINK HE INTENDED FOR IT TO BE A BUSINESS OR IT WOULD BE BETTER ORGANIZED.

I DON'T SEE HOW IT CAN BE A PROFITABLE BUSINESS UNLESS THE GAME COMPANIES ARE PAYING FACEBOOK TO BE THERE AND HAWK THEIR GIFT CARDS THERE. AND THEN THERE ARE THE ADVERTISERS...

THE BAD THING ABOUT THE ORIGINAL POSTER'S MESSAGE HERE IS THAT HE OR SHE HAS NO WAY TO CONTACT THESE PEOPLE TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE WHICH I AM NOT SO SURE WASN'T MADE ON PURPOSE TO MAXIMIZE PROFITS AND SKIM OFF SOME MONEY FOR THEMSELVES AS WELL.

NOW HOW IS SHE GOING TO BE ABLE TO WRITE OFF THE COST OF ADVERTISING OFF HER TAX RETURN WITH NO RECEIPT OR TEAR SHEET OR ANY PROOF OF WHERE THE AD RAN, FOR HOW LONG, FOR HOW MUCH AND WHEN AND WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE?

FACEBOOK HAS A ROTTEN BUSINESS PLAN AND IT IT WASN'T FOR THE BACKING OF BILL GATES, I THINK THEY WOULD BE AS DEAD AS MY SPACE RIGHT NOW.

Believe me, not everyone is on facebook, I've never looked at it, it's of no interest to me and many others.

I DECIDED THAT I WOULD TRY TO SET UP ANOTHER FACEBOOK ACCOUNT TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN NOW THAT I HAVE 3G.

IF YOU TAKE WHAT THEY CONSIDER TOO LONG TO FILL OUT YOUR PROFILE PAGE, YOUR SPEED STARTS TO SLOW DOWN LIKE THEY ARE MONITORING YOU OR INSTALLING SOME MALWARE ON YOU.

THEN YOU START HAVING MEMORY CAPACITY PROBLEMS WITH YOUR COMPUTER AND THE SCREEN WILL FREEZE AND IT IS LIKE SOMEONE ELSE IS CONTROLLING YOUR COMPUTER AND YOU GET WHAT I CALL THE "ETERNAL HOURGLASS" ICON IMAGE AND YOU ARE ALMOST COMPLETE SHUT DOWN.

YOU WILL THEN GET A STRANGE-LOOKING MESSAGE THAT APPEARS AND TELLS YOU THAT A SCRIPT HAS STOPPED RUNNING OR SOMETHING...MORE SIGNS OF TROUBLE.

FACEBOOK IS DOING SOMETHING TO MY LAPTOP!'

MY UKRANIAN-GERMAN GRANDFATHER WOULD HAVE SAID,"NOBODY PROVIDES A SERVICE FOR NOTHING, FOR FREE --WHAT IS THE CATCH?"

SOMETHING I SHOULD HAVE ASKED AND A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE ASKED BEFORE THEY FELL FOR THE BANDWAGON EFFECT PROPAGANDA --"EVERYBODY IS DOING THIS SO I HAVE TO DO IT TOO."

WHAT IF THIS FACEBOOK PHENOMENA IS SOME SORT OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE SCAM TO ACCESS YOUR HARD DRIVES, INSTALL SOPHISTICATED SPYWARE AND CLEAN OUT ALL OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT IS THERE?

WHO KNOWS HOW IT WILL BE USED?

WHEN I WAS A REGULAR USER, I WAS ALWAYS HAVING TO REINSTALL MY OPERATING SYSTEM AND I WAS USING GREAT VIRUS PROTECTION AND FIREWALLS.

THE THOUGHT OCCURS TO ME THAT FACEBOOK WOULD BE A GREAT WAY FOR THE GOVERNMENT INTELLIGENCE OR SOMEONE MORE SINISTER TO MONITOR WHAT YOU SAY AND SO  ---AND TO INSTALL A PROGRAM THAT WOULD EMPTY OUT YOUR HARD DRIVE AND TAKE ALL OF YOUR INFORMATION THAT YOU KEEP THERE.

EVERYBODY ACCEPTS FACEBOOK USE, WE ARE TOLD IN THE  ESTABLISHMENT, CONTROLLED NEWS MEDIA AND WE ARE CONSTANTLY BRAINWASHED  BY THE NEWS MEDIA ABOUT HOW GREAT FACEBOOK AND THESE SOCIAL MEDIA ARE.

I THINK THEY HAVE PRETTY MUCH SHREDDED THE WORKINGS OF MY LAPTOP.

YOU ALSO CAN'T CONTACT ANYONE EVEN IF YOU ARE A PAYING CUSTOMER AND EVEN IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG. OR EVEN IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

HOW CAN YOU RUN AN EFFICIENT OPERATION IF THERE IS NO WAY TO GENERATE FEEDBACK OR DEAL WITH USER QUESTIONS OR COMPLAINTS.
THERE IS NO COMMUNICATION --OR IF THERE IS, IT IS ALL ONE-WAY --FROM THE TOP TO THE USER AND THAT IT IS.

THAT IS LIKE A CYBER DICTATORSHIP....OR INSTANCE, WHEN I CHANGED ISPS, I HAD NO IDEA IT WOULD AFFECT MY FACEBOOK STATUS AND THEY WOULD SHUT DOWN MY PAGE AND WIPE IT.

I HAD TO REMIND MYSELF THAT THIS WAS A FREE PAGE AND I WAS SPENDING NO MONEY FOR IT SO THEY OWNED IT AND COULD DO WHAT THEY WANTED TO ME AND ANYONE ELSE DUMB ENOUGH TO BE HERDED AND STAMPEDED ALONG INTO SIGNING UP FOR THIS  RICH YUPPIE KID'S SITE.

I HAD QUITE A FOLLOWING BECAUSE OF MY INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING  TRAINING TOO...IT WAS FUN BEING TO WRITE AGAIN AND LOOK FOR NEWS STORIES.

I DO NOT LIKE THE IDEA THAT FACEBOOK SUPPOSEDLY RECEIVED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS IN DOLLARS TO MOVE SOME OPERATIONS TO AUSTIN,TEXAS. FOR WHAT?

I ALSO DO NOT SEE HOW THEY MAKE ANY MONEY BECAUSE THEIR AD RATES ARE WAY TOO HIGH AND THEY HAVE NO WAY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVEY WITH THEIR ADVERTISERS MUCH LESS THE USERS.

THEY REALLY NEEDED A LOT BETTER BUSINESS PLAN.

GOTTA WONDER IF THE CIA OR A BLACK  OPS GROUP OUT OF THEIR PENTAGON IS SUBSIDIZING THIS TO FIND OUT INTO ON PEOPLE AND STORE IT IN THEIR COMPUTER DATABASES.

RIGHT BEFORE THE FIRST DOT.COM BUST, I ASKED HOW WAS ALL THIS TECHNOLOGY MAKING ANY SUSTAINABLE MONEY. SURE THEY DAZZLE AND OVERAWE THE ORDINARY PEOPLE WITH ALL OF THEIR TRICKS AND GADGETRY BUT HOW WAS THIS GOING TO GENERATE ANY REAL MONEY --DOWN TO EARTH, SUSTAINING A REAL ECONOMY --DOLLARS AND CENTS ---IN THE LONG TERM?

CYBERSPACE ISN'T EVEN A REAL SPACE AFTER YOU PULL THE PLUG.

I WATCHED THE SHARKS WILDLY INFLATING THE BUBBLE ECONOMY AND THE CRAZY-WILD INFLATION OF HIGH TECH STOCKS -- SUSTAINED BY WHAT, EXACTLY? AND A BUNCH OF IDIOTS SNAPPING UP THE STOCK WITHOUT REALLY KNOWING THERE WAS NOTHING THERE OF SUBSTANCE JUST HOLOGRAMS, ELECTRONIC ILLUSIONS.

THE STOCKS WERE WAY OVERINFLATED, HYPER-INFLATED, SPECULATION WAS RAMPANT, CONTROLS WERE MINIMAL AND GREED WAS EVERYWHERE. IT REMINDED ME OF THE IDIOTIC, UNTHINKING SPECULATION OF THE 1920'S WHERE THE MARKET BECAME A CASINO.

AND THERE WAS THE DEPRESSION OF THE 1930S.

NOBODY WOULD BELIEVE HOW BAD IT REALLY WAS, HOW WE NEARLY BECAME A COMMUNIST NATION AND HOW PEOPLE LITERALLY STARVED IN THE STREETS AND FROZE TO DEATH IN THE WINNER. WE HAD SOMETHING LIKE AT LEAST A 25 PERCENT UNEMPLOYMENT RATE.  WW II SAVED OUR COUNTRY WHICH IS WHY I THINK IT WAS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN.

CLINTON WAS TO BLAME FOR ALLOWING THE DEREGULATION OF LAWS PUT IN PLACE TO PREVENT ANOTHER 1930S MELTDOWN, BUT I CAN SEE WHERE IT ALL BEGAN WELL BEFORE HIM AND EVEN GEORGE H.W. BUSH, THAT ANGLOPHILE BUFFOON.

THERE HAVE BEEN BOOM BUST CYCLIC ECONOMIC PROBLEMS WITH THIS ECONOMY EVERY SINCE 1800S.

BUT I NOTICE THAT LATELY THE BUSTS HAVE BEEN HAPPENING WITH GREATER FREQUENCY...AND IT SCARES ME.

If you have a billing problem with facebook and what "to your horror" ...."they" interpreted the price to be...is your problem. Don't advertise with someone if you don't like their prices or know how to understand the agreements.

Ironically however... I agree with you. Just like YOU state at the end of your goofy report...I also STRONGLY recommend no one use their services...I know certainly do not anymore.

Ny credit card company concurred with my postion that Facebook had overcharged and defrauded me and reversed all Facebook charges from my credit card.  Facebook immediately illegally retaliated against me by kicking me off of Facebook and when I asked why they were kicking me off of Facebook, amazingly, they stated in writing, in an e-mail that it was because I had requested my credit card company to reverse their fraudulent billings to me.  This has now gone from a possible billing error to obvious civil fraud.  I am filing a complaint with the F.B.I. internet fraud department.  I encourage other people on this Website to file complaints with both the Federal Trade Commission and the F.B.I. regarding their problems with Facebook. 

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I DO NO BUSINESS ON THE INTERNET.

THIS IS NOT LIKE A NEWSPAPER WHERE YOU GO AND PAY YOUR MONEY AND YOU KNOW YOU WILL GET THE AD THAT YOU PAY FOR  FOR AS LONG AS YOU WANT IT TO RUN.

AFTER LOSING TWO FACEBOOK PAGES, I FINALLY, SADLY  LEARNED MY LESSON.

This is an update to my original posting about Facebook's fraudulent ad charging practices.  Facebook charged me yet again for their ad this morning, September 19, 2010, one week after I closed the account the morning of September 12, 2010.  To ad insult to injury, FIA, my credit card company, is illegally refusing to reverse the charges from Facebook and block this vendor from charging me again.  Last week, FIA blocked Western Union from posting my legitimate charge and six weeks ago, FIA did the same thing with my legitimate charge from Skype.  Both Skype and Western Union charges were blocked at the discretion of FIA, the credit card company, without my permission and concurrence.  It took me over an hour to get these vendors unblocked but when I ask that Facebook be blocked, FIA just ignores me.  It makes me wonder what kind of collusion is going on between Facebook and FIA and why they have Skype and Western Union on their black list!!!!
