FanBox sends out email using your name to your contacts so that they can lure you with an email saying "you" have a tiny youtube video and want the recipient to view. Once the recipient clicks anything in the email, including to get off their mailing list, they steal your contacts and will use your name to spam more victims. I fell for it when received a tiny youtube invitation from a video producer friend, but they stole his identity and email contacts. When I clicked the launch, was taken to website that asked if I want my contacts to be notified about the video. I clicked "NO" but that does no good because any click lets them steal your contacts. My name has been used for three years with invitations that seem legitimate. Be careful, too, of using FanBox in searches because as I was reporting them to FCC, for the second time, a fraudulent virus alert appeared claiming to come from Windows Security. Don't click that either.
The address given for FanBox in San Diego is a Postal Annex address. They rent a postal box their and use the address as a mailing address to seem legitimate. FanBox - 113 West G Street, STE 510, San Diego, CA 92101, USA, is their address in the email. Don't click anything in the email. Report them to Postal Annex, the owners of the business address they use by phoning (619) 702-7522. FanBox has many scams, thefts, fake website hosting, fake invitations, and charge your credit card for no services provide if you give it to them. Very dangerous group with people in San Francisco and elsewhere perpetrating the fraud. They appear legitimate, and that is how they lure people whose identities and money they steal. Report them to FCC and local police if you are in San Diego.

Costa Rico??

The company is not offshore in Costa Rica, I am, along with hundreds of other very happy FanBox members. The millions of FanBox users are from all over the globe.
I wonder if the author of this post ever considered that he may be a victim of identity theft, and is just using FanBox as a scape goat?
Some people see a conspiracy around every corner.
I find it odd that of the thousands of people who post messages on FanBox everyday, not a single one of them has a complaint that mentions anything even similar to the bizarre accuzations this author is spewing. I will put my faith and trust in the millions of very happy FanBox users.
Not some conspiracy buff.

spam Fanbox company/site rebuttal from Costa Rica

The rebuttal from Fanbox sites owner/spammer is also part of a hoax to continue using unsuspecting individuals for spam and other illegal activity. Any reports to BBB are bad since most don't report to BBB because company is offshore in Costa Rico. You have to report to BBB locally where business takes place or is located. They have been sending out spam to my contacts for over three years based on one click I made in an email from a friend who they spammed using his contact list to invite a tiny youtube viewing link. I fell for it and tried following their trail after a couple of years of repeated use of my name, my contact lists, etc. Don't fall for any of their activities because you will be burned. Report all activity you encounter to FCC in the United States. We hope to shut them down by blocking their scamming and spamming.

This is not the FanBox I know
AUTHOR: BigJohnG - (Costa Rica)

I have been a member of FanBox for the past four months, and I completely disagree with the statements made in this so called report. In the first place, my investigating has turned up a total of 73 complaints filed with the better business bureau in the past three years, over half of those have been resolved, and FanBox is dealing with the remainder of those.
For a company with millions of members, I think 73 complaints in three years is a spit in the ocean.
I communicate with hundreds of my fellow members everyday. Our comments, blogs and postings are not reviewed or need to be approved in any way. If there were anything underhanded going on we would all be warning each other.
I don't doubt that there have been a few people who might have lacked the basic intelligence to understand the system at FanBox, and maybe had their bank or Paypal account charged for an IPL fee, and not understood what was going on. But any normal person with half of an ounce of sense that can read, can clearly understand the FanBox system.
The proof is in the many happy blog posts I read each and every day about the checks our members have received from this wonderful opportunity.
As far as his accusation that FanBox steals peoples contact information, I can only respond that this was certainly not the case with me, or any of the thousands of other FanBox members I have communicated with. They do give you the option to add your contact list from any of the major email providers to invite others to FanBox, and again, if someone is not too bright, they may click on that not knowing what they are doing.
It is clear that the person who wrote this report has never spent five minutes on the FanBox site.
Thank you for the opportunity to set the record straight.
