My wife and I took our teenage daughter to Faulkner Pontiac Buick GMC last week, looking for a new car for her before she enters college. Our daughter saw a bright yellow 2007 GT that really caught her eye. The sales manager, Kevin Rogers, told us that this car was loaded with options and promotions for easy purchase.

As it turned out, he built my daughter up, got her all excited about owning her first car, and then offered us virtually no deal. When we realized that we were at least $1500 dollars apart, we abandoned the effort to buy the GT and left.

The next day, Kevin called and told us that he had a red Pontiac coming in, not a GT but a lesser model, a G5. He said that this car would be about $1500 less than the GT, making it more affordable for our family. I asked why this car was $1500 cheaper. He emphasized that there were only three differences between the two cars: 1) the G5 had a little less horsepower, 2) the G5 had smaller wheels, and 3) the G5 was a little lower to the ground. In the words of this sales manager, Kevin Rogers, "Nothing your daughter would ever notice."

We drove back and let our daughter take the red car for a two-minute test drive, just to make sure that it rode as well as the GT. Again, the sales manager emphasized that everything else in this G5 was the same as the GT from the night before, and he said he could easily get the G5 in yellow by tomorrow from another dealer. I should have known not to believe this man because, during the negotiations that followed, he tried to sell me the extended warranty plan for $1440, even though I knew it was only $660. When I caught him in his "miscalculation," he ran into another office to check the price of the extended warranty and came back and told me he "made a mistake." More "errors" would follow, only I did not know it until days later.

We finally made the deal and shook hands on it. When we took possession of the car the following week, my daughter noticed -- when we were already home -- that there was no 6-CD changer - just a SINGLE CD changer. This was not one of the differences the sales manager mentioned when he compared the two cars for us. When I called Kevin to question this, he said that he was "human" and "may have inadvertently overlooked it," but refused to change the CDs because he gave me "too good a deal on the car and there was no money left in the deal." He also told me that it was my responsibility to notice the equipment listed on the sticker before making such a large purchase, despite what he told me earlier about the equipment.

I demanded satisfaction, and in the next few hours, I received rude telephone calls from the sales manager again and then from Pat Duffy, a man who introduced himself as the general manager, although he is listed as just another sales manager on the web site. He told me that the problem was mine, not his, since I did not take the time to scrutinize the window sticker. He said that his sales manager, Kevin Rogers, denied ever making the claim that there were only three differences between the cars. Mr. Duffy also said that, in the past, his salespeople have, in fact, made that mistake of failing to tell people about the different sound systems between the GT and the G5, and he had to "eat the $600 and make the switch to keep customers happy," but he was not doing that anymore! When I told him I was going to the top of the GM ladder to complain, our conversation was over.

A few minutes later, I received one final call from this awful dealership, this time from Al Sherwood, the President. He was as rude and sarcastic as a person could be. For a person in his position, he should be a problem solver, not a condescending snob. When I told him I was very aggravated, rather than offer a solution to the problem, he said, "How about if I call you tomorrow when you're a little calmer?" He then went on to play a major semantics game, saying that the responsibility for this error was with the buyer for "ASSUMING WHAT THE SALES MANAGER SAID WAS ACCURATE." He went on to say that the sales people sell so many cars to so many people that they simply can't keep track of all the things that are said during negotiations, and he simply has to believe that his sales manager, Kevin Rogers, never said anything about there being only three differences between the two cars.

He then became insulting, suggesting that "A smart buyer would know that you can't save $1500 just on less horsepower and tire size." He was practically laughing at me, especially when I told him how disappointed and disillusioned my daughter was, especially after believing what Kevin Rogers told us at the beginning. "President" Sherwood just snickered at that comment and told me that, in the future, I should NOT ASSUME what anyone says is the truth, even, I guess, if it's one of his employees representing Faulkner Autos and General Motors.

What a bunch of liars and bullies! After they get your money, they don't even want to know your name. Don't go there unless you want to be misled, lied to, and insulted!

I BELIEVE THIS REPORT IS BOGUS ...

AUTHOR: Lovely_GradStudent - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 29, 2009

I am sorry to hear that you were allegedly jipped by Faulkner, Pontiac, Buick, GMC.  But everyone knows that if a car dealer/salesman comes in and offers you something better, and according to HIS OPINION, your daughter wouldn't notice a difference, that should have been further looked at by you; being her father.  I don't think these guys had a gun to your head, forcing you to make a sale, so if you caught them in one mistake about the warranty, and possibly a lot more - then why would you go ahead and sign the paperwork?

I recently purchased a Pontiac GT Coupe from Faulker and I will say that Jack Alexander was one of the best car salesman I ever had to work with.  The Coupe is fully-loaded with 17" chrome rims, sun roof, 6-disc changer, everything!!!  I'm not one to buy on impulse, so I actually stopped in once with my father and three times with  my boyfriend to see the car in a matter of three weeks, test drove it twice on regular roads and Route 1 at a high speed, and Jack was as patient and knowledgable and friendly as the first time I met him.

Also, once I was ready to sign the papers, I had a mix-up with my financing and in order to get it approved, I had to have the numbers dropped in order to get it approved by my credit union.  They dropped almost $5,000 off the car during the negotiations process!

I will say that they tried to get me with the warranty, but since the car was already GM certified, I didn't get it.  I just simply said no.

I would buy from faulkner again, and you know the stereotypes that women face when purchasing a vehicle.  But since they knew that I had done my research, and knew that I can easily get up and walk out on the sale, they worked with me.  I'm not one to play with!  I believe based on this report that all of things could have been avoided if it was just further thought out.

I wish you the best of luck with your future car purchases.

Wally, don't let a yank chase you away!

AUTHOR: Private - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 11, 2006

Wally,

As far as your decision to stop posting to this site? is it because you are running from an ex-wife or girlfriend? Are you behind on child support? I really doubt that!

Why are you letting a silly Yank chase you off? Wally, how many times have you told people to standup and fight for them selves? The fact remains that you have been telling people to do that? so follow your own advice!

In the United States, politics are such a dirty and vicious process? which is why so many hard working, good and decent people refuse to run for office. They know that the opposition will come along and take quotes out-of-context and twist them one-hundred eighty degrees?

As I type, it has been reported that for the last three years, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald knew that Scooter Libby was innocent of accusations that he leaked a CIA officer identity. It is also being reported in an Newsweek article titled, ?Out of the Shadows,? that CIA agents are now checking there insurance policies to make sure that if sued for torturing people, that they will be covered.

I really do wish that our Government had the best interest for the United States. However, with false accusations against good honest people, with secret prisons and torture, with lies about the Iraq War which had nothing to do with terrorism? I can not be like you.

You have to keep in mind Wally, our government tortured people and I wrote a protest letter. Out government transferred prisoners to governments that are known for torture and then used this information as an excuse to start an illegal war against another county? pull up the Newsweek article titled Out of the Shadows. Our government even took the words from known liars to justify the Iraq war. These facts have been know for several years and can not be disputed!

I retract every single comment and question made concerning you!

It is a shame that I can not nominate you for, ?The Order of Australia.? Because of all people, you deserve it!

It is also a shame that your own countrymen, co-workers, associates and friends have failed to nominate such a worthy person as yourself!

As they say..."nothing pesonal, it's just business".

I never got offended by your jabs at me. I found them quite fun.

It's too bad you have chosen to leave this site. I fully understand your reasons for doing so, however. The only person who should post a full name, or adress of a person, is THAT person. The internet is designed to be anonymous. I have a few different email edresses for this reason. I only use one for this site though, out of respect for ED.

I am sure you know who I am. It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure it out. Just look under the main listing I provided a long time ago, and you should have me within "30 Minute"s. HEHEHE.

Good luck to you, and yours.

Thanx Robert

AUTHOR: Wally - (Australia)

POSTED: Friday, September 08, 2006

Thanks for your comments Robert. Yes I felt publishing a family name was way below the belt. I am aware of yours and a number of other regular posters but out of respect for your families I would never consider doing what has been done to me. Just to clear up a few points also, I.T. is a bit like motor vehicles. It covers a myriad of specialties. My passion and my biggest money spinner is designing and implementing networks and yes, believe it or not $200 plus per hour is usual for this sort of work. I am qualified and certified to do it and have now in excess of 30 years experience. As well I am involved in retail and wholesale, web development and many other things I.T. so there has been no untruths from my side of the fence. I am not a wealthy man because I have no interest in being so. I serve the community that supports me and devote a lot of unpaid time and money in helping those less fortunate than us.

I thank you for the sparring sessions we have had over the years and wish you well with your business and your family. In the interest of safety for my family I will not post anything further on this site. The only threads that I have posted on have been ones where I felt the OP was being unfairly treated so I came to his/her defence with full gusto, which is how I live my life.

Private has sent an email to the address I have registered with this site asking me to contact him/her but I do have a life and have no interest in clandestine utterings. I stand tall, head held high and once again that is how I live my life. In my youth I worked as a bouncer in a very tough nightclub for 4 years and it taught me the futility of fighting and physical violence so if someone did kick sand in my face on the beach I would smile and offer them a beer. Do it to my family or someone who is unable to defend themselves then he has big problems. As you are aware Robert, it matters not how proficient you are in physical attack or defence there is always someone better so therein lies the futilty.

It has been suggested that I owe Lee Vin an apology. If that is truly your name then I sincerely apologise.

Anyway kindest wishes to all from Down Under and try to take life a little less seriously. Politics is dirty, laws are wrong but without some sort of guidelines to live your life you have anarchy. I prefer to have trust in people until that trust is betrayed, you should all try it - it makes sleeping at night very easy.

By the way I am also full call ham operator as well - have been since the late 70's so have possibly spoken on air to a few of you over the years.

Cheers,

Robert,

I am sure that Wally will jump all over, I do think it was a low shot posting your last name, "Bad form", I believe the term is.?

Just consider how silly Wally's statement is: My only disappointment is the publishing of my family name by yourself and "lee ving" or "com ing" - two individuals who, unlike me don't have the courage to use their own names.

Wally, you didn't want to use your full name? What about courage of convictions? Just where is this courage that you're talking about?

Robert, Wally didn't have the courage to go by his name? his full name and he didn't put down his true city and then he slams me about a name? He then slams a person who is using his real name. To me that is hypocrisy.

Ask Wally, if I listed myself as John from Seattle, what would this prove? What would Wally say then? What would his comments be then?

Wally needs to post a complaint on this site. If he would get off his lazy bum and do so, he would discover that it is OK to go by, Anonymous or Private. The Rip-Off site allows that and it is specifically mentioned. It is not for Wally to decide? if he doesn't like it, he can setup his own site and make his own rules.

What does this have to do with a father buying a car for his kid? Not a thing!

It has as much to do as Lee Ving's humorous comments to people who were over charged by rental centers. (Lee Ving has a sense of humor.)

Robert, you mentioned that you were on the receiving end of his comments and you feel that some of his comments don't add up. You also feel that I was in the wrong for posting his name.

Wally says he is disappointed that I posted his family name? Wally, you said a person couldn't be believed if they didn't post their name?

My name is Billy Bob Thorton Jr. and I am from Cincinnati and can I meet your daughter? Does your daughter have good teeth? Does she chew tobacco? Can I be your son-in-law?

Sincerely,

Billy Bob Thorton Jr. (TJ for short.)

This has piqued my curiosity

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 08, 2006

Wally, I'm not taking sides in this tit-for-tat, but you told me you made your money as an IT guy setting up Networks for people. You gave an hourly rate that made no sense...$200/hour.

Now, it seems you set up websites and service them. That's a whole heap different. I guess holding dominion over 500 different domains could generate some real moolah. A bunch more than fixing some guy's computer. Let's try to be a bit more accurate in our description of what we do next time, eh?

At least my story hasn't changed. I own a successful NAPA AutoCare Center. And yes, my name is on the NAPA website. You can also find my name and home adress by going through the State Dept of Agriculture.

I do think it was a low shot posting your last name. "Bad form", I believe the term is.

I am still trying to figure out what ANY of this has to do with this girl buying a car.

Wally,

San Francisco California has a large Chinese/Asian population. I believe that Lee Ving is a real name!

Wally, it is very easy to have courage when a person uses the incorrect city that they live in just like you do, (Warana is close enough.) It is also easy to have courage when a person's last name is not known kind of like what you do with your insults to strangers.

It is not wise to use one's name. Here in the United States ID Fraud is rampant. Your argument about not using my name has no meaning; ID theft is too great of a risk. (This is what I meant about Internet Security/Privacy.)

Wally, please look up http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff206920.htm and tell Honest that she is not to be believed! Tell her that she lacks credibility. Please file a complaint with Ed the Editor!

While you do that Wally, keep in mind that several months ago, I sent Ed an email explaining my reasons for wanting to be anonymous. I am sure that Ed the Editor keeps records, he has my email address, and he knows my name. My IP address is recorded every time I log into the Rip-Off site!

The fact remains, if you had bothered to read my posts, you would have noted that innocent people would go to jail for what I wrote about! (This is what I meant about Internet Security/Privacy.)

People, including myself, publish way too much information about themselves that makes tracking people easy. (This is what I meant about Internet Security/Privacy.)

Wally, you're as guilty as I am when it comes to publishing details and this is what I meant about Internet Security/Privacy.

Not that it is any of your business, but years ago, while living in Texas, I had several death threats made against me by one of my students. This person was upset because of a grade. This person also had a long criminal record. This person was involved with a murder after he/she had threatened me. (Yes, I know TMI.)

Wally, it is not a pleasant experience to be interviewed by the FBI.

Wally it is not a pleasant experience to discover that a nut case, with a long criminal history, has made threats and that my child's life was in danger and my wife's life was in danger all because of a stupid grade and it wasn't even a failing grade!

When I wrote Big Daddy, I was trying to let you know that you made it too easy for people. Nothing more, I knew it was Go Daddy. Heck, Wally you have registered some 500 sites, I know that.

You once wrote that when in the wrong Aussie's would take it on the chin and do the right thing or words to that effect. You owe Lee Ving an apology because he did not publish your name and he used his real name!

Wally, please contact Leanne and get my email address. If that doesn't work, contact Ed the Editor and ask for it!

Wally your way out of line about a lot of things.

Hardly a lesson in Internet security

AUTHOR: Wally - (Australia)

POSTED: Friday, September 08, 2006

When you live in a suburb of a few thousand people and spend a good deal of team supporting the community and you can hold your head up high and use your correct name any one who can access google can locate you in less than 60 seconds. So no, "private" you haven't caused me any distress and you certainly haven't breached any IT security on my end.

My only disappointment is the publishing of my family name by yourself and "lee ving" or "com ing" - two individuals who, unlike me don't have the courage to use their own names. Thank you Jennifer for being able to comprehend that I was defending the OP unlike the others who went off on their own tagent.

POSTED: Thursday, September 07, 2006

Robert,

I happen to believe that Wally Hopper is a decent and honest person. I also believe that if Wally found a persons wallet, he would return it.

Wally Hopper has volunteered time to his community; I can not make that claim and very few of us could.

Judging by where he lives and the information that he has provided, there is no doubt in my mind that he makes 200k a year He has an IT Business and a few of his 40 Internet sites do make money for him and yes, I do believe that he takes customer service very seriously.

However, I do feel that he doesn't play nice at times, none of us do. I also feel that his outlook on life and government are far different from mine and I do not appreciate his rude comments.

This is a lesson in computer security/privacy and all of us need to be diligent!

In closing: My apologies for causing you distress Wally. As I have said in previous posts I know that you're a decent bloke, I just don't agree with some of your methods or some of your beliefs!

As the recipient of nearly half, of the listed quotes, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who noticed.

Giving everyone their money back would never work in this country. It also doesn't work in Australia. Despite it's Socialist bent, Aussieland is still dependent on Income Taxes. If you give everyone their money back, you attain no income...just lot's of debt.

Anyone else get the idea someone isn't being completely truthful in their claims? Someone who trains their employees to hand money back to everyone? Someone who claims they do it themselves? Someone who claims to earn over $200/hour as an IT guy? Someone who claims to be an IT guy, yet didn't know that a WAN is a Network?

Hmmmmmm?

As for David, and his issue, you should always do your research prior to going to purchase anything. The difference between one item and another when you purchase it, is usually very small. The difference between what that same item will be worth after you buy it, will usually be much greater. Depreciation is a killer. If you are interested in something, and don't know "this" from "that", bring someone who does. You'll be much better off for it.

Thanx Lee Ving!

AUTHOR: Private - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 06, 2006

David,

I just want to drop you a note and let you know that yesterday, I sent off an email to Faulkner Pontiac Buick GMC, you would have loved it and I hope it helps.

Lee Ving, I didn't spend that much time looking up Wally; it was less than an hour. He is not a very nice person, he has slammed a lot of people and he decided to insult me and to disparage my decision to go by Private.

Please do me a favor and lookup Rip-Off report ripoff206920.htm because according to Wally the Hop?Hop Hopper, the person who goes as ?Honest? can not be believed.

Plain and Simple? Wally Hopper is an Internet Troll; he comes to the Rip-Off Website and insults people. That is the only reason why I posted his quotes. No vendetta, no threats, no anger, no personal agenda, and certainly no revenge on my part.

(To the readers: Really, it doesn't matter to me? call me a liar, laugh if you want because it doesn't matter.)

I posted this information because most people think that it takes a long time to pull up and this is not true. When I do a search, you're looking at seconds and minutes, not hours or days. I posted this information because a lot of people don't know how to find it. I posted this information because Hopper has no idea as to how many people he has upset and hurt!

I posted this because Wally Boy Hopper uses insulting language all of the time and he has gotten away with it on the Rip-Off Report website.

I don't need to use threats, no anger and no emotions about this at all. I looked up Wally out of curiosity and because I have the training and experience. Then I posted it because I can!

(Maybe now Wally Hopper will have a better understanding about Internet Privacy/Security.)

Hopper spent a lot of time on the Board of Caloundra Tourism, he worked hard to promote his area and it was all volunteer work. Then he came to this site and slammed people with insults. All that work blown because Wally didn't think about his actions!

Considering his own words, ?Don't tell me to butt out you insignificant little moron? or ?Incidentally I have never used spell check in my life - I don't have to - I have an extremely good education.? My question is would he tell this to people face to face or does being anonymous on the Internet play a part in his decision to be rude?

How about it Wally? Do comments to strangers like, ?You are the most outspoken grease monkey that I have ever come across,? and ?she is pigheaded, has tunnel vision and an IQ about the same as the number of fingers on her left hand,? represent the people of Kuwana and Warana?

Wow? just why would anyone want to visit Kuwana or Warana? Why would anyone want to visit the Sunshine Coast?

So? you must be wondering if there are any other reasons why I would post this? When Wally Boy Hop Hop slammed me on my post, then disparaged me for my privacy concerns? and since I have all the training and experience in tracking people who don't want to be found?

I spent less than an hour and found out he knows a thing or two about computers and he slams me about computer privacy? What a hypocrite!

I also notice that he slams a lot of people? (Well, most of the time they probably deserved it.)

Anyway, here he has done all kinds of volunteer work with the tourist bureau and then he gets on and blows it all with insults to strangers? I mean after all folks, this rude nasty bloke by the name of Wally doesn't play very well with others?

Here we have this sorry excuse of a bloke who thinks trusting government is a good idea. Oh come on Wally, get a life!

Our President lies. Heck the Detroit Police tortured prisoners less than a decade ago. Lookup the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiments and read about our loving government. (Do you get it? Syphilis and Loving Government.)

The voters here in Ohio can not even vote against a tax levy? yeah sure it will be defeated, then the officials declare a special election and we vote on it. In less than four months we vote on the same tax levy three times before it passes by less than three-thousand votes? (Yes the tax levies are defeated at least twice in less than four months and they end up being passed on the third vote.)

Wally trust your government and cherish their honesty if you want to, but here in the States, we get to read about an Ex-Republican Governor being sentenced to prison.

Dave, this is about treatment to customers and this is a huge problem that dealerships refuse to address. Thanks to David for writing in!

Again David? I sent an email to Faulkner Pontiac Buick GMC and asked them just how many people have they been rude to today. I hope it helps. (It was easy; I filled out the job application and posted my comment in the question area.)

Lee Ving, Wally doesn't fool me and thank you for writing in.

Would he tell this to people face to face or does being anonymous play a part in his decision to be rude?

Wow! After reading Wally Hopper's comments about people and strangers, just why would anyone want to visit Kuwana or Warana? Why would anyone want to visit the Sunshine Coast?

I think Private has spent a great deal of time trying to make Wally look bad. The responses had so much information in them, it must have taken private a very long time to write up. In fact so long, that private got confused while turning this into his/her battleground with Wally.

From what I read it seems private thinks Wally should stop giving David a hard time. However, I have only seen Wally defending David's rip off report. The only thing I have seen him say is that the guy has a right to feel ripped off and that he shouldn't be blamed for his " mistake of trusting a person/company "

So next time if you are going to use someones report as a way to badmouth Wally... try to get your facts straight. I mean, did you even read the report before jumping on Wally? It's obvious what you are doing..whoever you are.

David ignore "IT Wally" (Internet Troll Wally)

AUTHOR: Private - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 06, 2006

Wally,

My sincerest condolences for your countries great loss, Steve will be missed!

Since you like to give David a bad time, here are some quotes for you and while you think about them be sure to get a pen and pad in order to record any thoughts of brilliance that you may have.

Oh and while you mull these quotes over keep in mind that you Wally yes you are the person I am quoting! So while you look over them, tell me and the world just where are your ethics?

Since you treat strangers like this, do you treat your employees like this?

Here are your own words Wally enjoy and yes these are your words that you have been posting year after year on the Rip-Off site so enjoy them after all it is for posterity.

Don't tell me to butt out you insignificant little moron.

Incidentally I have never used spell check in my life - I don't have to - I have an extremely good education.

There is a lie in just about every post you make - so much for your mantra!

Keep ripping them off and then blame them for your own failings - a great way to run any business.

That's how it's done in the real world where you don't have to spend more than half your day defending your non existent ethics.

I know you perceive everyone else on this planet to be beneath you but if you could explain this one point you would really show yourself to be a man of infinite wisdom.

Whoops, I am talking to you as if you have comprehension or may care and we now all know that is not the case!

Believe it or not Mr. George Bush is liked by a majority of Americans.

You, my little jerk off, are a two bit scammer and habitat the lower end of the food chain.

You, my feeble little friend, are exposed for the scammer you are and your website is very, very average and has the potential to cost people a lot of money through no fault of the own.

I truly believe that you helped put this crappy web site together - the spelling and grammar certainly has your stamp on it!

You are an insignificant low life that nobody has any respect for and I would be ashamed to say I had anything to do with creating your laughable website, it is a joke!

I can no longer understand what you are saying.
Please don't give this goose one cent of your money dear readers.

Perhaps now you have one skill you might like me to teach you why SSL is absolutely essential for your crappy web site.

It must be very lonely at the bottom!!!

You are the most outspoken grease monkey that I have ever come across.

She is pigheaded, has tunnel vision and an IQ about the same as the number of fingers on her left hand.

I felt the slime dripping off you Doug.

You talk about me finding my mental equal in a pond and I'm sure you're right because I feel stupid debating such a moot point with a bloke who spent the best 10 years of his life in the fifth grade.

Nobody is interested in your little cat fights.

You are way out of your depth my low grade grease monkey so pull your head in and stick to the thread!!

I must be showing you up for the fraud you are and hitting a nerve.

Poor little rich boy - born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

I think you are beating more than a horse and it has given you tunnel vision.

After spending the best ten years of your life in the fifth grade did you not learn i before e except after c - receipt not reciept?

Do the world a favour and play your computer games and harrass your very few tenants and if you have nothing constructive to say - say nothing.

Our favourite little greasemonkey who will never amount to anything other than the laughing stock he is.

I suggest you do even a little research before you open your mouth and show the world just how ignorant you really are.

Ignore the roberts, dennys, seans etc they have not a clue about integrity and ethics in business.

You little peon - have your last say. Most of us on this thread could buy and sell you 100 times over.

Wally, I could go on and on and on but I have proved my point. You are an Internet Troll. You're not even a nice person to strangers is this how you treat potential customers? Is this how you treat your employees? Is this what you think about people?

Where is your ethics? Would you show your spouse the letters that you have written? You know the insulting letters that you have posted on this site.

Would you show your customers these letters?

How about your grandson? Would you show him the rude comments that you have made about complete strangers?

Since you seem so upset that I go by Private just what is your last name Wally? I mean you have nothing to hide don't you? What is your street address Wally? What is the name of your company Wally?

Wally are you saying that anyone who refuses to provide there name can't possibly be taken seriously?

To paraphrase your own words Wally the man/woman who is too full of his/her own self importance to have the courage to disclose his/her name full name you have even less credibility than I do.

Wally, your not a nice person, leave David alone he made the mistake of trusting a person/company nothing more.

Be a good Aussie Wally, make like a Wombat, dig a hole and go away!

"Private" what makes a troll? -

AUTHOR: Wally - (Australia)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Private, the man/woman who is too full of his/her own self importance to have the courage to disclose his/her name you don't present with any credibilty. You have branded me an internet troll but I guess the reason you have done that is because I have made comments on more than one thread on this site - but wait! doesn't that then make you an internet troll as well?
You are obviously in politics as you have very selective cognitive ability. "ask him if he was ever accused of Computer Piracy" Yes I was - by an anonymous competitor who wouldn't disclose their name(sound familiar) was I involved in piracy? - NO!! So private why not quote the whole story instead of a part of it that suits your agenda?

"Ask Wally if he has 40 or so website registrations with Big Daddy and ask if any of them are scams and then ask him if he knows anything about computer security?" Because I am an ethical business person why would you even ask this question. The answer is Yes to 40+ websites with Godaddy (not big daddy) NO to scams and yes to security so I guess you are working on the tenet that if you throw enough mud some will stick.

Anyway I just wanted to say that to conceal your name in order to complain about others is pretty weak. Surprise, surprise yes I do support my Government at all levels and always would in preference to radicals such as yourself who don't even have the courage to state their name.

The only celebrity that I have mentioned on this site unfortunately passed away this week. We Australians are overwhelmed by the messages of condolence that have flooded in by the wonderful people of the USA, thank you so much. He was a great bloke and will be sorely missed by us all.

POSTED: Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Refunding money to keep customers happy is a nice concept, and I am glad that it works for you. I don't think it would work here.

Maybe this is a problem in America that doesn't affect other countries. For some reason America is likes to sue and likes everything for free. Infact many people expect it.

If every business owner refunded money to every customer that wasn't happy we would all be out of business. People like to complain. They like to blame other people for anything that goes wrong. Some people will actually lie just to try to get something for free.

Being honest and fair obviously reduces the chance of a customer being unhappy, but some people are just natural complainers and will never be happy. Any place they go they want something for free.

So maybe it's America, or maybe you just have a knack for finding great customers.

David,

I read you letter and can certainly understand what you're saying!

I do agree with you and feel that the Auto Manufactures and Dealerships in this country leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps this is why companies like the Ford Motor Company announced plans to reduce the number of dealers east of the Mississippi. (I bet that GM will soon do the same!)

Also, I noticed that Wally of Australia took the time to respond to your post I wouldn't put that much faith in anything that Internet Troll has to say.

Wally talks really big about ethics but you should ask him if he had an IT School that failed? Or ask him if he was ever accused of Computer Piracy?

Ask Wally if he has 40 or so website registrations with Big Daddy and ask if any of them are scams and then ask him if he knows anything about computer security?

You see David, Wally believes that we should trust our Government. He lives in this fantasy world and thinks that all we need to do is join hands sing Kum by Ya and the Car Dealerships will see the light. He likes to drop names about Celebrities that live down the street from him.

David thank you for taking the time to report this Dealership on the Rip-Off website, we both know that this is far more effective than complaining to the BBB or State Attorney General.

In closing: Don't let the Internet Trolls discourage you from reporting a rip-off company. Get on the BBB's site and file a complaint... most people look there because they do not know about this site!

Good luck!

Thanks for the courteous reply Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer, as an ethical business owner myself I am constantly ridiculed by my old sparring partner in Jacksonville because I will always offer a refund to any of my customers even if they are in the wrong. If they are not happy with their experience in dealing with my businesses I take it personally and the offer of a refund almost always defuses the antagonism and allows me or my staff to rectify the problem in a courteous manner.

Sure some people rip me off but I would rather that than not being able to sleep at night. I don't have to cross the street to avoid any customer I see because I know that they have been treated superbly and they just want to chat. It is amazing how much money I save by not having to advertise for business because all of my business is referral or repeat.

Your car dealers over there should try it - it really is a win win for everyone.

money funded

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 01, 2006

This is just a suggestion that might help.
I heard that IF u finaced a car and its is less than a week that POSSIBLE the money havent been funded by the bank or by a particular FUNDER.The DEALERSHIP might say that you are approved but technically they didnt get payed for the vehicle yet.SO chances are someone might not even be the owner of their car yet... On a VEHICLE that was financed : the contract should shows which FIAIANCIAL INSTITUTION funded the loan.. The coustomer then can ask this institution if the loan has been funded to the DEALERSHIP. SOME FUNDERS will not fund a VEHICLE unless the vehicle is in the buyers POSSESION. So if the loan is not funded then the costumer probably can return the vehicle because its has not been funded. But to be safe it is advisable to READ the CONTRACT properly for hidded CLAUSES before considering this.

hope this might help

I see your point Wally

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 01, 2006

It is an unfair practice and SHOULD be stopped. The easiest way to stop it is for people to be informed! You cannot be ripped of if you do your homework and find out how buying a car works, what kind of car you want, what options you want.
The reason salesmen are allowed to get away with this kind of behavior is because people make it easy for them!!! When you walk into a dealership without knowing anything and nod your head at everything they say without arguement you are contributing to this problem. On the other hand, if you come prepared with the price you know the car is going for, and exactly what you want you may not get it, but you wont get ripped off either.

It's too bad really, and I do feel bad for Dave. But it is A LOT harder to bargain after the fact, than it is to just do your homework and "Stand up to these thieves" before!

Everyone in America would love it if they could go to the dealership and get exactly what they want and no lies. But at this point, it isn't going to happen. Why would the salesman tell the truth when he knows he can get away with telling lies and making the sale now? If people started calling his bluff it might just change. Infact more and more people are buying their vehicles off the internet, and skipping over the salesman altogether. They make the deal over the phone or online and pick up the car.

While it should never be that way in the first place, it is. It would be nice if everyone had morals and such, but they don't. You have to protect yourself and your family from the stupidity and greed of others. The guy should be able to post his ripoff report to warn others of the rudeness and the way this dealership does business, but he can't place the blame of not having his 6 cd changer on the salesman!

And btw the cd player probably wasn't covered by a photo of a 6 cd changer when they test drove it (for two minutes? is that the dealers fault too? Drive it for as long as you feel like!) like your caviar and peas analogy.

Sympathies Dave

Sincere sympathies Dave. I would hate to live in a Country where lying and scamming is tolerated and accepted. You really should do something about it.

To answer your question, yes I would believe what I was told about the stereo system and if I found out I was lied to I wouldn't meekly accept that I should have checked. I would have them replace the stereo to meet the specs that I was told. Nobody in my country has a licence to lie and they are penalised if they do.

You guys should try it. Stop being sheep and stand up to these thieves you call car salemen. With a united front you could clean up that industry very quickly. Buyer beware is reserved for auctions or anything sold 'as is' - it certainly doesn't(or shouldn't) apply to a whole industry.

Next I'll be reading complaints about you buying a tin labelled caviar and finding peas inside. A rebuttal will tell you you should have checked - where does it end?

In this country, it's BUYER BEWARE. If someone told you that a car you were buying had a 1000 watt stereo system with subs in the trunk, would you believe them? or would you check it out first? Nobody should buy anything based on a salesman's "word". The OP should have been more diligent when buying a car for his own daughter. He should have read the sticker, it's very easy to understand, and it spells out the options perfectly.

I agree it was a ripoff, to an extent

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

I personally would have thought the salesman was saying that there are only three differences in the VEHICLES themselves. The difference in the actual models, not the options they carry.
But for the salesman and everyone else to flat out deny they said this is just wrong.

In my opinion the 1 cd is better than 6 anyhow. I also would be more worried about how high my insurance is going to be after purchasing a brand new RED "sports" car for my 18 or so daughter...

But then I never would have gone to the lot to pick a car, it should be done before so you can research the options and what price you should expect to pay. This is what salesmen pray for...a customer who sees "a bright yellow 2007 GT that really caught her eye." after that it is as easy as building "my daughter up, got her all excited about owning her first car, and then offered us virtually no deal." They know they have you. Next time do your research and know what you will pay. Don't expect them to offer you a deal. Don't get so excited about it that you don't take your time and notice the details, both in the car-like the cd player- and when signing the deal.

Just remember the salesman is NOT on your side. They act like they are doing you favors and trying to help you buy the car you want, but they just want to sell a car...even better if they can do it today. There is a very good article that was written by someone who went "undercover" as a salesman. It's long but very interesting, I found it on edmunds.

ALMOST everyone knows that salesmen lie and always make "Mistakes" about the pricing details. They hope you wont notice. So since that is how most salesmen work, and it's pretty well known, it is the customers responsibility to protect themselves from being ripped off.

What a sorry mentality, Dave and Hugh

If I read the rebuttals correctly you are saying it is not a ripoff if a car salesman lies to you. Is it legal and therefore acceptable for a car salesman to lie and cheat in the US?

A man or a woman breaks his/her word then that is a ripoff regardless of their occupation. Why do you blindly accept that because they are car sales scum that they are entitled to scam anyone at any time. For goodness sake fight back. If you can't believe what a person tells you then what is left? Support the OP - he is guilty of nothing except walking into a snake pit and being cheated by everyone from the Owner right down to the low life salesman.

Ya know, this could've been avoided

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 01, 2006

If you read the sticker, it would've clearly shown the differences of the car. Why on earth would anyone believe a car salesman???

The dealership is under no obligation to rectify your mistakes. Yes, they could've been more receptive to the problem with less attitude, but this was completely your fault for not being more attentive to detail. This isn't a ripoff.
