Thinking I was using the safest shipping method possible for an online sale that I made I called Federal Express for a pick up from my home. When I called I explained that I had an airbill but no box/envelope and no plastic sleeve for my airbill. I requested 5 each which I was told the was the maximum I could request. The driver arrived on my street, parked on the street, not in my driveway. He came to my door empty handed and I explained that I had requested envelopes and plastic inserts. The driver looked clean, neat and professional. He extended himself and listened to my needs--I wanted the package insured and signed for and never checked off the box on the airbill for waiver of signature. He told me he would take care of it and gave me my copy of the airbill. He offered to package my contents. I joked and said, if you can't trust the Fedex man who can you trust? They deliver millions of packages...the one my driver offered to package...contents stolen and delivered without insurance and no signature. My client thinks I ripped her off. I contacted security right away. They say they have no record of insurance and danced around the issue as to why it was delivered with no signature. The driver was to have never accepted my package without me properly securing it--something he never made me aware of. I thought he was being polite. He stole my contents, did not insure the item and a empty ring box was delivered to Prescott Valley Arizona. So instead of the driver being held accountable for not following Federal Express guidelines but accepting my package (and stealing the contents) and the driver in Arizona who delivered it without signature being held accountable it looks as though I am out a client, a ring and $500. His word against mine. I thought he was being helpful. He ripped me before my eyes, in my driveway as I told him to have a good night and drive safely. Federal Express seems to be taking the drivers side in spite of their own employees not following their rules and regulations...and because their good natured driver failed to insure my package as requested the chances of me getting a refund are slim to none. Do yourselves a favor--stick to the local post office, Express Mail with signature confirmation and insurance and don't trust Federal Express.

Is This Your First Time?

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 08, 2008

I mean really. It sounds like this is the first time you have ever shipped anything. You state YOU had the airbill. YOU should have filled out the airbill and had the driver attach the airbill to the package. As a matter of fact, YOU should have gotten all the materials, from the driver and put the package togeather yourself and given it to the driver, COMPLETE. That's your fault. That's my 24+ years in the jewelery business speaking. Sent a $200 insured package to a customer via usps. Someone at the post office sliced it open, removed the item and sealed it back up. Years ago, I received a box, via FedEx, from a vendor with $10,000 worth of stock. someone at FedEx had sliced it open, removed the merchandise and reglued it. I open my FedEx packages with a knife. Called FedEx to report it. Since I had opened it with my pocketknife and hadn't used the pullcord, I had the proof that it HAD been glued. FedEx payed the claim. I always use a pocketknife. Common sense tells you not to trust ANYONE, ANYWHERE.
