I worked for this company for a very short period of time. Initially, I was very hesitant to move forward with this company, and was pursued by National Sales Manager, Scott Avery. Mr. Avery finally convinced me to come to training by saying "Try it out for at least 30 days, if you don't like it, we'll pay you residuals for as long as the client stays on the books.". Lived up to my end of the bargain and worked for the company for a little over a month, and ultimately decided it was not for me. The ultimate goal in this form of business is to charge the client as much as you can, as the more you charge, the more you make. Since I did not like ripping off small business owners who work hard for their money, I pursued other forms of business where I can sleep well night by providing a value added service to businesses, and the price is the price with zero negotiation. Bottom line, they paid me residuals for a few months and than stopped with absolutely zero notice. I attempted to call Scott Avery for several months, and he never returned any of my several messages, When I grabbed him on the phone live, he told me he was busy, and said he would call me back, which he never did. After numerous attempts, he finally responded back to me in email as he was obviously afraid to speak with me live, stating that according to the contract I signed, if I do not sell 2 deals in a given month, than the company does not have to pay me any residuals. I recently came accross one of their job postings on Monster.com, and they advertise Lifetime Residuals. Protesting to Mr. Avery via email, as it was the only way he would communicate with me, that it is not what we verbally agreed upon, he dished it off as a signed contract and I could not do anything about it. Seeing my residuals were about $150/month, and I am close to a year since they have not paid me any residuals, the company owes me $1,800 and growing. If you are considering working for this company, I would highly recommend you reconsider, or make sure to go through your contract with a fine tooth comb. If you are a business considering utilizing Federated Payment Systems Services, make sure to shop them, and by all means do not take the first offer they give you. The rate is always negotiable, and I would recommend shoping to at least 2 other vendors before coming to a decision. Hope this information is helpful to other people, so they can avoid being lied to by representatives of this company, and making sure to protect themselves at all levels. #13 UPDATE EX-employee responds

"Beware! He may start trouble and create more deception and fabricate the real truth"

AUTHOR: Annonymous - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, May 28, 2014

To all of Mr. Avery's future employers I would like to forwarn you using his own words, "Beware! He may start trouble and create more deception and fabricate the real truth". The only fabrication is the post written by Mr. Scott Avery himself. First of all, let us clarify a few things. When I worked for federated payments we were forced to take certain breaks throughout the day and only allowed to work hours totalling 37.5 just under the amount that an employee would need in order to qualify as full-time. No benefits need be offered. So that statement was completely incorrect whether he realizes that or not. The man that wrote the original post showed genuine concern for potential victims or employees of this company whose motto is, "What did you do for me today?", at least that was my manger's motto. Having no regard for any previous business acquired  by an employee or successes of an employee and constantly reminding them of just how expendable they are is not only unprofessional but it is just wrong.  BEmployees are taught tactics in training sessions when you begin your new higher education. You are instructed to be rude and speak over people to avoid any objections asking "10 O'clock or 2 O'clock better for you?" The setting at first was much different. First impressions create the illusion that this is a respectable place to work. The office building was nice, there were employees hard at work, they were dressed professionally, the day I went for my interview. My first day I wore khakis and a blouse and never in my life did I think that would be over-dressed at a place of business. I was wrong. I was appalled to see what I had actually signed up for. I refuse to even put that job on my resume because it is downright embarrassing to be associated with this circus in any way.

How much of the residual payments went to you for writing this as opposed to the people who earned them by hard work and dedication?

AUTHOR: Reality worse than any fiction - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, May 28, 2014

I was unfortunate enough to have previously worked for this company and would like to respond on behalf of everyone who has posted and not taken further legal action. Not only is the manner in which the daily operations run very unprofessional people are actually afraid of physical violence or other nasty repurcussions, but some people live in areas where this is a higher paying job. They may be putting their personal feelings aside in order to support their famillies which is absolutely understandable. The amount of pressure put on employees was so strenuous that you always felt your job was on the line. Low and behold it was. I of all people can understand that sales is a cut throat business and you either sink of swim. However, there are certain things that cannot be disputed. I was able to sell ice to an eskimo and kept up with their standard of five appointments to be set daily but most of the time exceeded it. It is absolutely ridiculous that the people responding to these complaints not only show a lack of empathy but then go as far as to publicly ridicule companies that they have previously worked with. This company far surpasses any definition 0f "unprofessional" that I have heard. When I started, I was dressed up for my interview, I walked in feeling like I was entering a professional setting. The atmosphere was great, happy employees who were well-dressed and spoke eloquently. By the end of my three months, people were walking in with ripped jeans, "wife beater tank tops", offensive and revealing clothing as I am sure you are able to get the picture. One manager has gone so far as to actually be well-known for allowing and encouraging male employees to enter her "bat-cave" otherwise known as her, well I am hoping it was a term for her office. Unfortunately as I walked in to speak to my boss about a question I had regarding regarding a policy (to better assist a customer) I decided against knocking on the door behind which I could asctually heaar my boss getting nailed on her desk by just one of a few of the many co-workers who were "advancing their careers" with her behind closed doors as they bragged about it on their smoke breaks.. At one point I was told by a potential customer they with a company sounding like a circus.  Anyway not everything was bad, we were not permitted to throw our cigarrette butts on the ground. So, overall the grounds were well kept. To clarify, I am not a disgruntled ex-employee as I currently am at a job with a major financial instituation making more than I ever could at federated, legally. I just do not feel that people voicing their issues about a company should be publicly humiliated or degraded.

Federated Payments - Federated Payment Systems

AUTHOR: anonguest - ()

POSTED: Sunday, April 14, 2013

They always say its you. But whats always the common denominator? They are.

When an employee almost dies after being found the next morning, blood soaked in an elevator, after using drugs and alcohol in the Melville office with Scott Avery afterhours, you must believe something is wrong

As a former employee of this organization for MANY YEARS at an executive level, I can only agree with the negative remarks posted. Not only have I had a professional relationship with this organization, I have also had an extensive personal relationship with the individuals mention at this company. In the end, I was treated just like everyone else was; disposable.

No matter how good you are, how much revenue you earn them, how hard you work for them It will come to an end and they will fabricate anything to put the blame on the other party. This is a company who fired 20+ employees, just hours before a company Christmas party. This is a company who intentionally cuts off residual payments weeks before they vest for life to the agent. This is a company who will [and has] take away the livelihood of the most loyal of employees.  All because they are greedy. CEO Jon Levitt says it best with his famous line, My kids eat first.

Jon Levitt recently terminated the #1 sales manager for the past 5 years, via a phone call from home, while the employee was at his desk working to earn this company more. This is a manager who has accounted for over 10,000 of their existing clients. Thats more than Scott Avery, VP, has even accounted for. All over a rumor that this individual was looking to advance his career else ware after CEO Jon Levitt stated, as long as L**** is employed at Federated, he will be a sales manager here. Period. Furthermore, they attempted to slander his name across the company after his dismissal rather than resolving the matter privately. This is an employee who would work 65+ hour weeks with no overtime; fueled by his dedication to the company.

They will attempt to discredit you: They will hypocritically denounce you. Calling you irresponsible, dishonest, or disloyal.

Then they use lines like:  Just another case of a rep who cant close Just a guy mad that he cant sell -  You violated your agreement ( usually based on fabricated info)  to rebuttal any blogs like these.

They will tell you: We cant set appointments in your area anymore, its a bad area. (this is how they get you to perform below your contract requirements so they dont have to pay you anymore)

The bottom line at this company is the bottom dollar. I understand free enterprise, I appreciate capitalism, and yes I was part of this organization for a very long time.

Just remember EVERYONE IS DISPOSABLE at this company.

Federated Payment Systems, a.k.a. Federated Payments, a.k.a. FPS, a.k.a. OnePay, a.k.a.  National Debit Card Network, a.k.a. MSI Canada, a.k.a. Federated Payments Canada, a.k.a. Wholesale Merchant Services, a.k.a. U.S. Bankcard Center, is directed by Jon Levitt, John Guirguis, and a silent partner who has no part in the daily operations of this company. Evan Schweitzer is the CFO and Scott Avery is the #2 to Jon Levitt.

I understand were you are comoing from. Scott Avery would tell us the same thing to use when trying to hire someone to come and work for Federated. He will promise you the world and make you believe that you are going to make hundred thousand dollars a year and promise the lifetime commissions when its completely false. And for the people reading this and even current employee I know its true because I am a exemployee and this is a awful place to work.

They must have paid you to say this

AUTHOR: maddog1 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, August 04, 2012

Federated Payments is the worst the company to work for. The back office gives you no support what so ever they just make your every day job one big headache especially sale support. Scott Avery does not care about anybody he is the worst boss I have ever had. I was regional sale manager and i wanted to get out of there my first week. First of all when they brought me out to training to there headquarters I have never seen so many unprofessional people in my life. And especially SCOTT AVERY who was heard numerous time cursing and yelling at his people and to employee over the phone.

Then we were trained by Avery that I must say he is a good trainer I did learn a lot from him in the short time I was there. But the company should be shut down and the owners should be in jail for fraud. I hired sales rep for this company and i got to say if you want to work for this company has a sales rep don't. It will take you forever to get paid because they sales support will make sure of it. I had many reps that had sold deals and sale support had reps go back six times because they always found something wrong with it. The rep would get so mad that he would quit. The place is a revolving door they only keep sales rep for 3 months and then get rid of them.

PLEASE PEOPLE DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY OR ANY OTHER CREDIT CARD PROCESSING COMPANY OUT THERE THEY ALL GIVE A LINE BULL s**t SAYING THAT THEY WILL GIVE YOU 3 TO 5 APPOINTMENTS DAILY WHICH IS NOT TRUE REPS ARE LUCKY TO GET 1 TO 2 DAILY. BESIDES THE FACT THAT 85% OF THE APPOINTMENTS ARE BOGUS ANYWAY. ESPECIALLY THE TELEMARKETERS FOR FEDERATED PAYMENTS IN MELVILLE AND SCRANTON. I WOULD SAY MOSTLY MELVILLE, NY THE SCRANTON MANAGER DID RUN HER CREW A LITTLE BETTER. I GOT TO TELL I AM SO GLAD I FOUND ANOTHER JOB THAT I AM HAPPY IN AND THEY TREAT THERE EMPLOYEES 100% BETTER THEN FEDERATED. FEDERATED MADE ME SO NUTS EVERYDAY THAT I WAS READY TO JUMP OUT THE WINDOW.

Simple Solution

AUTHOR: FreedomUSA - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, April 08, 2012

Very simply, the gentleman filing the original complaint has nothing worth talking about. If the contract states that you have to produce two contracts per month to receive residuals, well that is the contract. When I was new to this industry, I too signed with a company with some type of production requirement in order to receive residuals. I was new to the industry and did not know this was not standard practice. After signing some 30 accounts and receiving not one dime in residuals, I moved on to another company that pays full residuals from day one with no requirements. I now represent multiple companies and draw my residuals each month. The difference is that the contracts I signed plainly stated that I get these residuals without having some production requirement. This is especially important to my company since I represent multiple processors and some months may not sign an account to a particular processor. On the other hand, I may sign 5 or 10 accounts the next month. Bottom line, read the freakin contract! You do not like how it works, don't sign it. I personally think Federated is a good company but because of the production requirement will not be able to use their services but that is my choice and I certainly do not blame them.

You're kidding right?

AUTHOR: Ray - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, September 10, 2011

What kind of a jerk are you? If what you were doing was so bad and weighting so heavily on your concience, why in the hell would you be interested in receiving residuals from this horrible company? Seems to me if they were so bad, you would being doing all you could do to put them in your rear view mirror and repairing the damage you did to your family members and clients (no mention of that in your post!) Instead, you have your hand out asking for more of the dirty money from this company.

Additionally, since when do so-called "verbal agreements" trump "written agreements?" Especially those that you sign voluntarily? Lastly, where in the world can one work for 30 days, sign-up a few accounts and receive "lifetime residuals?" I don't have a dog in this fight, but if I did--he'd be biting you square in the a*s. I hope this company does sue you for liable! You're not even a good liar! Shame on you for even posting this non-sense....

Why does Federated /MSI battle on line?

AUTHOR: opus - (Canada)

POSTED: Monday, August 08, 2011

MSI/ Federated appears to  be in the'Ex employee & contractor  threat business', given the  adversarial tone of thier responses.

They appear to be unaware that new agents read these reviews,& make the decision to either stay away- or if in, to get out- fast.

I work for a competing company - It simply is  a competitive industry to sell in.  No agent needs a head office 'boat anchor'.

Great compnay to work for.

AUTHOR: theyrippedmeoff - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 03, 2010

I previously worked for Federated from 2008-2010. I was extremely please with all of the support and service they provided. When i first started as a sales rep, i was a bit nervous as it was all new to me. After a few weeks it took right off.

The reason I am posting this is because a friend of mine recently started with Federated and he happened to stumble upon this posting and I felt compelled to stand up for Federated and provide some good info about them.

The support that Scott Avery and his team offer is second to none. I even visited the office for a Christmas party and got to meet everyone. I was shocked to see over 400 people at this event.

I was always paid right on time and accurately. In fact, even after I left due to personal reasons I still continue to receive my monthly residual income right on time every month. My contract with them said I had to remain an active rep for at least one year and sell 2 account per month to receive ongoing residual income just like the person who started this post said too. I did my part and they held up to their end perfectly.

I have over 200 clients in the GTA Ontario area and i live right here as well. I can honestly say 99.9% of them never have problems with the service. I have 1 person who had some trouble getting setup but that was because they were using a system that we informed them wouldnt work very well.

The best part about working for Federated is the residual income. I havent been with them for 8 months now but still receive a direct deposit every month for just over $3800. they split the monthly revenue on the accounts i signed with them 50-50. i couldn't be happier as this income is going to be there for a long time.

Bottom line, Federated is a great place to work and make a TON OF MONEY!

Hope this helps,

Tim P. - GTA

The Real Truth!

AUTHOR: New York - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 26, 2008

Here is the real story,

Jeff **** came to work for Federated Payments while still working for Aflac selling additional insurance benefits to company employees. Mr. **** had told me he needed to clean up some deals that were ready to sign with him at Aflac and wanted to work a part time schedule. I approved this as we normally work fulltime employees.

Jeff sold a few deals including his family's optical shop and some additional friends and related business. Jeff told me after a month he had been offered a group of deals a former district manager for Aflac had left on the table and it was too much money to walk away from. He asked for 3 weeks off to close these deals and would return to Federated.

After over a month and many calls to Jeff he finally answered my call. I asked him if he was ready to come back to work, as it was actually over 6 weeks since he had been working for us. He made several comments that lead me to believe he would be back on board with us soon so I extended his residual payments.

Note, Jeff signed a bold residual payment addendum as all sales associates do. This agreement clearly states the criteria to maintain residuals with Federated.

Jeff led me on for another 3 to 4 months and we did pay him residuals in this timeframe. After about the 5th or 6th month we stopped his residuals and he started to call and complain. He stated he crossed off the criteria on his contract regarding residuals and wanted to get paid and maintain this small monthly income, that was coming primarily from his family and friends business. I reviewed his contract to see if I made an error but that was not the case. I believe I even faxed the agreement to Jeff and he became more upset and started threatening legal action. I let Jeff know that he start working again for us I would reactivate his residuals. He refused and made a statement that I would be sorry.

Jeff **-** simply did not uphold his contract with Federated and is stating lies and on the verge of slander and facing legal action if this is not corrected. If there was any validly to his claim he would have retained an attorney pursued action.

If you're an employer and this man interviews with you, beware! He may start trouble and create more deception and fabricate the real truth.
