DANGER IF YOU BANK AT FIFTH THIRD CONSIDER READING THIS!

FIFTH THIRD NEVER ADVISED THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT THEIR COMPUTERS WERE HACKED INTO AND OVER 40 MILLION CUSTOMER'S CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT INFORMATION HAS BEEN STOLEN!

Last Thursday, I received a courtesy phone call from my bank, Fifth Third Bank in Brecksville, Ohio telling me that my account was overdrawn by over $262.00. The teller said that she called, because this was unusual for me to be overdrawn. I grabbed my calculator and started to calculate my figures along with hers and told her that even if I was overdrawn, I had overdraft protection in the form of a Master Card for $500 which I had NEVER touched in two years. This card remained in my drawer and the bank confirmed no activity was on it since 2005.

The teller told me that someone had made four telephone purchases to Telecom Italia SPA (cell phone and communications company) in Torinoipa Italy on January 14/15, 2007 at 8:29-8:36 pm. which amounted to over $700.

I denied those charges and had to file a fraud report with the bank, Brecksville Police, and the three credit card agencies.

My checks (including my mortgage) was returned and I got penalized so far for $100 in fees and am spending days and endless hours trying to report this and get this taken care of.

My bank, 5/3 will not refund my losses--only the charges they charged me for NSF fees. I am told this will take 30 days for the fraud department to investigate!

In November, 2006 I was contacted by 5/3 Bank saying they wanted to give me a home (equity) loan I denied, but then said okay in case I would ever need this in the future. I received a Fair & Accurate Credit Transaction Disclosure of Credit Scores in the mail, but not only did I receive one for myself, I received one for another person who lives in Mentor! Behind that was 5/3 privacy statement telling me how 5/3 protects their customer's privacy rights! I called this person to find out that this person DOES NOT BANK WITH FIFTH THIRD, NOR DID THEY EVER APPLY FOR A HOME LOAN!

Fifth Third did run a credit check on me in November.

I was shocked to have looked online to find out that 5/3 had their computers hacked into and 40 million credit cards are at risk now!

FIFTH THIRD AT LEAST OWED THEIR CUSTOMERS A WARNING TELLING US THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED, BUT THEY CHOSE TO REMAIN SILENT ENDANGERING MILLIONS OF CUSTOMERS! THEY SHOULD HAVE CHANGED OUR CREDIT CARD NUMBERS, BUT INSTEAD THEY LET US BE LIKE SITTING DUCKS WAITING TO BE SHOT AT! Now, we must take the losses.

As I researched online, I found that this was a terrorist act and that terrorists stole credit card numbers to purchase cell phones (just as they did with my credit card). The terrorists not only use the cell phones to communicate with, but use the batteries to produce bombs! They also use the cell phones for the purpose of setting the bombs!

Fifth Third must not have cared about this terrorist activity, or they would have made an attempt to stop this terrorism by notifying all of their customers of this computer hacking and immediately changed all of our credit cards.

Makes one think about who is participating in terrorist activity.

So whose computers that hasn't been hacked?

AUTHOR: Unknown - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 19, 2009

I live in the tri state area of Cincinnati, Kentucy and Indiana and never ever heard of this hacking taken place..As a customer of other comapnies, several has been hacked by kids that has too much time on their hands..After reading what the original writer had to say, I laughed myself silly on this one..I believe that you should get your records straight before publishing anything so ridiculous. I know that this story is over a year old now, but none of us ever heard of this hacking..What about DSW Shoes, Citibank, and several other companies that had been hacked..Was you on here complaining them too? Walmart several years ago was hacked, did ya know about that one? So ," Who hasn't been hacked?" and st, awwwww geesh, get real..then that makes every company out there fall into the same catagory..I don't think anyone on here believed this original story, at least I didn't..

REPORT FIFTH-THRID BANK TO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION AND OFFICE OF THRIFT SUPERVISION

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 16, 2009

While on the FTC website - read about YOUR RIGHTS!
Look at the Fair Credit Billing Act
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre16.shtm

And Identity Theft http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menus/consumer/data/idt.shtm

Educate yourself on your rights and then you have a leg to stand on.

MOST PEOPLE DO NOT EVEN LOOK FOR HELP in the right places.

They come to complaint boards and post the complaint, but never ever look for help from the governement regulartory agencies.

5th Third Gallup I'm the guy From Gallup!

AUTHOR: Perry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 15, 2009

I worked for the Gallup Poll in Omaha Nebraska for about three years. It is a great place to work.
I am Perry Carnes who called the lady and gave her the toll free number to Gallup.
I now work for the Federal Government, and left Gallup in good standing.
The purpose of the Gallup survey that they do for Wachovia, Wells Fargo and 5th Third Banks is to measure customer satisfaction for customers on
their most recent banking visit.

At no time do we say we know exactly when you were at the bank and we want to know why? I nor any Gallup employee has ever said that.
Most of the surveys state that we are following up on a most recent bank visit
in the last week or so.

I appologize if she felt I was trying to rip her off. If she would have just looked up the toll free number on the Internet or the Gallup Organization, or simply called the number she could have found out it was a legitimate call.
The survey is a relatively mundane affair asking such questions as were you happy with the length of wait in line, were you greeted with a friendly smile, and rating
the different aspects on either a scale of 1 through 5 or 1 through seven.
It's sad that people have become so paranoid that they don't know who to trust anymore.

It's hilarious that I ran accross this website because I randomly did a Yahoo search
on my first and last name and saw my name featured on the title page of this website totally by chance!

I miss my fellow employees at Gallup, a company that has been doing Political and
Consumer surveys since the 1930's, but I don't miss all of the people who claimed
I said this or that, and treated me like I was trying to rip them off.

Fifth Third employees are not aware of problems in their own bank

AUTHOR: Peggy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 09, 2007

In January 2007, the New York Times published an article "Data Breach Could Affect Millions". When I originally wrote this article, I placed a URL address; whereby, anyone could view the article that was written. However, this address was removed by the site before my article was submitted. Anyone doing a Google search will be able to find it.

This is even posted in Wikipedia's site. The fact of the matter is, that every employee I mentioned this to at the bank did not know anything about this.

I NEVER received a letter mentioning anything about a warning regarding any merchants and in reference to anything having to do with a reissuing of my credit card, nor did anyone else I know receive anything pertaining to this hacking problem.I was never given an opportunity to obtain a new credit card. As I mentioned previously, the card that was used NEVER SAW DAYLIGHT.

This card remained in my drawer. Not only did no one care about the Gallup situation, but no one cared about the Privacy Information and me getting someone else's credit score, etc as well as the situation with the loan. My story stands and every bit of it is truthful.

I have written documentation to proof it is truth. Also, I have the hassles of my credit which still remains to this day of Fifth Third's failure to correct this error. In addition to this story, even after I closed my account that was hacked into, I received additional costs. Costs that the manager said I would no longer receive, because the account was closed.

Although I ended up being credited afterwards, it took months to correct this problem and many many people who could not give me any answers as to why this happened in the first place.

#2 UPDATE Employee

Current Employee

AUTHOR: Brianna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 08, 2007

I am an employee of 5/3 Bank and would like to set a few things straight. First, Fifth Third's computers were not hacked nor were there 40 MILLION customers of 5/3 affected. Several retail merchants had THEIR credit card systems hacked and MULTIPLE banks were affected by this. 5/3 did send letters to all customers that had used their cards at these merchants letting them know that their card was being closed and a new one would be issued.

Second, you stated that you received a call from Gallup stating that they knew exactly when you were at the bank and when you mentioned it to 5/3 they wouldn't do anything about it. I have a very hard time believing that, considering 5/3 has hired Gallup to conduct customer service surveys. So if you had mentioned Gallup to an employee at 5/3, they would have known why you were being contacted.

March 16th and still begging them to settle this Fraud issue

AUTHOR: Peggy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 16, 2007

Today is March 16, 2007 once more I was in the bank today trying to settle this fraud since this has not been completely settled.

Up to date, some one at the bank has taken it upon themselves to change my address to another branch address, report me to the credit bureau for the credit fraud in spite of giving me partial credit, charge me a late fee for not paying for the fraud and then reversing the charge, and for the first time today I find out now that $15.00 was supposedly transferred to my account months ago and I now owe this $15.00. No one could tell me why a balance of under $30 has been in my account for the longest time until today.

Today I received a call shortly after I left the bank from a gentleman who said his name was Perry Carnes from Gallup Poll at 1-888-237-8999. This gentleman knew I was at the bank not only today, but a couple of weeks ago and wanted to know why! I reported this to my local police. Fifth Third said they are not interested in investigating who did this, because they said it was not worth their time! My local police had to drop this, because it was an international transaction.

Each time I visit the bank, I hear other people complaining about fraud in their accounts as well, but the tellers and managers keep trying to tell them that it was the customer's fault. I know something strange is going on at Fifth Third.
